      Prawie cala RFN jest pokryta.
      W Berlinie/Brandenburgii rowniez telewizja
      nadawana jest w systemie DVB-T.
Wielu programow juz nie ma w "starym"
      systemie analogowej emisji,
wiec trzeba bylo sobie kupic set-top-box
z niewielka antenka typu 1/4 falowy precik,
      ktory stoi na parapecie okna.

W Polsce byly jakies proby, ale aktualny stan
      jest mi nieznany.

(DAB? to przeciez juz w smierci klinicznej lezy)

Glowna przyczyna - kosmicznie drogie (i do niedawna wielkie rozmiarem)
odbiorniki - brak popytu na techze - nieopadajace ceny - brak popytu etc ad

"Pierwszy odbiornik w jednym pudelku" i cena 539 EUR.
Tam niestety nie pisze, ze z powodu nakladu srodkow na DAB jakosc reszty
urzadzenia nijak do ceny nie pasuje.

Poszukaj sobie, jak przebiega dabyzacja republiki. I dlaczego tak wolno. I
dlaczego zaopatrzenie od dawna stagnuje np. na polnocy.

      Australia
(05/02/2003) In December 2001 the Australian Broadcasting Authority (ABA)
agreed to support the application of the Commercial Radio Industry to commence
      digital radio trials in Sydney.

The Government’s response is supportive of the industry’s position, that a
development phase which establishes the business case for digital radio and
which tests technologies, which will allow coverage of both urban and sparsely
populated regional areas of the continent. Several receiver manufacturers have
expressed interest in participating in this development phase to help test the
      technology and consumer response.

Eureka 147 trials have been conducted since June 1999 by the DR2000 group, a
consortium of commercial and public broadcasters. The trials comprise a two-
transmitter SFN located in Sydney. The network carries content from five
networks: Austereo, ARN, 2KY, Racing Radio and the ABC.

The industry is establishing a digital radio development bureau and continues
to monitor digital radio developments throughout the world.

The ABA Board's decision to issue a temporary licence to access VHF for the
period of the trials demonstrates a commitment to ensure Australians have
access to the latest media innovations world-wide.

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Austria
(23/01/2003) There is currently one multiplex operating with three transmitters
in Vienna, covering the whole city (Channel 12D), approximately 1.5 million
people. The Vienna multiplex features the channels Ö1 (classical music), Radio
Wien (local station), Ö3 (pop music) and FM4. An estimated 19% of Austria's
      population receives DAB coverage.

Austrian public broadcaster ORF, were awarded a DAB trial licence for the
Federal States of Tyrol. They have now set up 2 DAB transmitters in Tyrol,
covering the Inn valley between Kufstein and the Brenner mountain (Channel
12C). This means that there is continuous coverage between South Germany and
Northern Italy. Ö1, the regional station, Ö3 and FM4 are on the multiplex.
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Belgium
(24/01/2003) Digital Radio launched in Belgium in September 1997 with a
multiplex then operated by the Flemish public broadcaster VRT. Today, VRT has a
multiplex covering 98% of the Flemish Community (expected to rise to 100% this
year) and French public broadcaster, the RTBF, has a multiplex covering 98% of
      the French Community.

The VRT carries eight audio stations, RTBF carries five audio stations, with
most being simulcasts of existing analogue stations, among them is BRF in
German . VRT offers two channels unique to DAB : Digital Radio, DABklassiek
playing classical music and 927Live, a sports programme

The RTBF multiplex retains several slots for commercial radio, but these have
      not yet been allocated.

Data services are expected to be trialled over the coming year.
      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

      Brunei
(04/02/2003) - Radio Television Brunei (RTB) started Digital Audio Broadcasting
(DAB-T) trial transmission on the 30th September 2000. The trial transmission
was radiated from Bukit Subok Transmitting Station, which is located about 3
kilometers to the north of Bandar Seri Begawan. Currently, the service consists
of five radio channels where one of the channels also includes a very short
      data service.

Hirschmann Asia-Pacific was contracted to supply, install and commission a 300W
DAB-T transmitter which was tuned to 12B. With DAB-T antenna installed within
the aperture of the existing analogue FM antenna, the DAB-T trial transmissions
were able to provide an estimated coverage area of 20km. However, based on the
recent field-strength surveys, the signal was able to be received at some
locations 60km away from the transmitter.
As part of RTB’s effort to create awareness on DAB-T, a training/seminar was
arranged in collaboration with Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Technical
Advisory Service (TAS) in the middle of March 2002. The training/seminar was
conducted by Mr. Gavin Fisher and Mr. Glenn Doyle from National
Transcommunication Limited (NTL) which was targeted to three different groups
      of people:

      Senior and middle RTB management
Technical staff mainly those who are dealing with transmissions.
Non-technical staff such as DJs and radio producers.
At present, there is no plan yet to expand the trial to a full state-wide
transmission. However, RTB is still monitoring the progress and development of
DAB-T in this region as well as continuing every effort to provide awareness of
      the technology to the public.

      Canada
(28/01/2003) Regulatory approval was received late in 2002 for 15 DAB stations
in Ottawa (11 commercial and 4 public). Service should start during 2003 adding
      another 1 million potential listeners.

This brings the total to 72 licensed Digital Audio Broadcast DAB stations in
Canada. In addition to the Ottawa stations 24 are in Toronto (20 commercial and
      4 public) 15 in Vancouver (11 commercial and 4 public), 12 in Montreal (8
commercial and 4 public) and 6 in Windsor (2 commercial and 4 public). The
Stations operating in these four cities provide service to some 10 million
potential listeners or about 35% of the population.

Halifax, Nova Scotia. Planning is also underway for 11 DAB stations (7
commercial and 4 public) with start of service during 2003.

A major engineering study by D.E.M. Allen and Associates for the engineering
planning for new DAB stations to serve the major population corridors in Canada
was completed in 2002. Covered by the new services will be all markets between
Toronto - Windsor, Toronto - Ottawa, Toronto - Montreal, Montreal - Quebec
City, Calgary - Edmonton, and Vancouver - Greater Fraser Valley. A report
commissioned by DRRI with Price Waterhouse Coopers on the revenue opportunities
of DAB was also completed during 2002. The results of these studies will permit
the broadcasters to carry out the detailed business planning for the DAB
facilities required. The population covered by the corridor stations would be
      approximately 15 Million.

In the fall of 2002 RadioShack Canada Ltd. became the first retail chain in
Canada to carry a line of DAB products for the home and portable markets. DAB
products will be available in approximately 250 Radio Shack stores. While the
initial receivers are handheld portable devices (with and without MP3
capability) additional products include boomboxes, other hand-held portable
      devices, and DAB computer attachments.

The marketing activity is continuing with a presence at various consumer
events, on-air promotions, articles in various press, etc. 'DAB' is used in all
the marketing material, from the consumer handout material to the 'On-Air'
promotional spots. The Canadian website www.digitalradio.ca continues to draw
      an increasing number of hits.

The Canadian DAB platform organisation is 'Digital Radio Roll-Out (DRRI) Inc.'
with mandate to manage the marketing of DAB following the launch of the service.
