The Vernal Equinox

As the newly reborn sun races across the sky, the days become longer, the air
warmer and, once again, life begins to return to the land. Twice a year, day and
night become equal in length.

To the elders of the Olde Way, these times, equinoxes, were markers in which
seeds would be planted and then harvested. The first of these, the Spring or
Vernal Equinox occurs on or about March 21st.

The ancient goddess, Eostre, a Saxon deity who marked not only the passage of
time but also symbolized new life and fertility, was the key symbol of this
celebration which was also known as Ostara. Legend has it that the goddess was
saved by a bird
whose wings had become frozen by the cold of winter.

This process turned the bird into a hare. Yet this was no ordinary cottontail;
this long-eared rabbit could also lay eggs!

The main symbols for Easter are the egg, for new life or beginnings, and the
rabbit/hare, for fertility.

The Iranian festival of Norouz is celebrated on the vernal equinox, as is the
Neopagan Sabbat of Ostara (or Eostar).

Also, in Japan Vernal Equinox Day (春分の日 is an official national holiday and

Earth Day has been celebrated on the vernal equinox each year since the first
Earth Day on 21 March 1970.

Tamil New Year is celebrated after the vernal equinox. This is celebrated in the

hehe to byla rozmowa na temat tego sodium. a w jednym z tych 2 postow jest taki
swietny obrazek z rybkami, a gosc na tym forum to opisywal opisywal jako duza
ilisc szklanych tafli. Nawet jest kawalek, ze cedrefs nie moze uciec, bo mu sie
droga wydluza, hihi. Moim zdaniem to lepsza przenosnia niz te tafle szkla, a w
ogole obrazek z rybkami jest lepszy, bo jak ludzie slysza o taflach szkla, to
kojarza z prostopadloscianami, a to sa bardziej rybki. hihi Tylko jeszcze nie
doszli do Zawadzkiego ktory w srodku siedzi i mu trzeba dac po ryju zeby uciec.

Z doktorem to dopiero zaszaleje. Na razie w pojedynke, bo we Wroclawiu juz jest
wiosna. No ale jest tez nasluch calodobowy nad komunikatami
przeciwpowodziowymi... Bardzo gwaltowne ocieplenie.
