Wiem, że w wielu przypadkach ludzie sami są sobie winni, tylko zastanawia
mnie dlaczego tylko turystów nie ginie w innych, równie popularnych miejscach
wakacyjnych np. w Hiszpanii, na Dominikanie, na Mauritiusie, w Grecji, na
Majorce, na Wyspach Kanaryjskich itp... - gdzie też wino i wiagra sa tańsze,
gdzie słońce też świeci mocniej, a klimat jest inny od naszego... itd...

Wygląda na to, że Tajlandia to cudowne miejsce na to aby odwalić kitę...

+ setki innych narodowości, choć w mniejszych ilościach na narodowość...

Tajska policja oficjalnie przyznaje się tylko do 119 martwych turystów.
Zastanawiające jest to, że większość z turystów stanowią biali ludzie, a więc
globtroterzy - cieszcie się Tajlandią, bo warto, ale uważajcie...
Obejrzyjcie Bangkok Hilton i Brokedown Palace i nie dajcie się złapać z
prochami policji!!

BANGKOK: A volatile mix of Viagra, alcohol and reckless motorbike riding
takes a heavy toll on Thailand's tourists, and every year hundreds fail to
survive their holiday in the kingdom.

"The tourist death toll amounts to more than two Bali bomb attacks every year
just from recklessness," said Steven Martin, co-author of the Lonely Planet
Thailand guide book.

"At home people wouldn't dream of having a few margaritas, renting a
motorcycle without a license and then riding around in a bikini and no
helmet, it's the holiday mind-frame," he said.

Of some 9.7 million tourists who came to Thailand last year, British citizens
recorded the highest number of deaths with 148, while there were 137 from the
United States, 120 from Germany and 73 from Japan.

Thailand's tourist police recorded only 119 tourist deaths last year, but 10
embassies representing just under half the foreign nationals visiting the
kingdom in 2003 reported at least 595 fatalities.

Wróciłam 2 tyg. temu z Tajlandii. Faktycznie masz rację. Z nieoficjalnych
danych ginie tam rocznie ok 12 tys. (!) turystów.
Znajomy Polak który tam mieszka od jakiegoś czasu potwierdził to.
Najśmieszniejsze jest to, że w Tajlandii jest np. najwięcej na świecie węży
cobra, od których to ukąszenia ginie rocznie tylko 6 osób.

Nie wiem skąd taka ilość turystów ginie, ale miałam okazję jeździć samochodem,
to gorzej jest chyba tylko w Egipcie jeździ się jak chce, gdzie chce itp....
Poza tym alkohol, wakacje, beztroska, wiem jak to jest, ale trzeba siebie i
jeśli trzeba, to innych pilnować.

Ja jestem tym szczęśliwcem, który od lat do Tajlandii jeździ średnio raz do
roku i bardzo lubię ten kraj i znam go bardzo dobrze i polecam.
Gdybym nie lubił, to bym nie jeździł. Ale dzięki tej znajomości kraju po prostu
wiem o nim więcej niż taki chłopaczek/dziewczynka? jak ty...
W czasie pierwszej wizyty tam też wszystko było piekne, kolorowe i uśmiechnięte
(tak samo było za każdym pierwszym razem czy to była Brazylia, Islandia,
Grecja, Tunezja, Portugalia, Turcja czy Indonezja... to normalne - koleżanka z
Tajlandii tez była zachwycona Polską, koleżanka z Japonii też była zachwycona
Polską, znajoma z Finalndii będzie tu w lipcu, więc zobaczymy...).

Ale twoje słowa wskazują na fakt, że po prostu nie znasz tego kraju,
mentalności ludzi itp. Ciemnych stron jest tam sporo, ale skoro mało czytasz,
mało myślisz, mało się dowiadujesz, po prostu mało wiesz - to jesteś
zaskoczony, gdy ktoś to zbierze do kupy i zaprezentuje w formie prostego
artykułu.
Tak samo wszyscy byli zaskoczeni ilością pedofili we Francji, Beligii itp gdy
ktoś sie tym zajął i te liczby wyszły na jaw.


Co do walizek - podróżuję sporo, ale tylko raz próbowano mi ukraść walizkę, a
właściwie plecak - parę lat temu - paradoksalnie nie na jakimś zadupiu na
dzikim końcu świata, ale
na naszym polskim dworcu centralnym w Warszawie :-( ... Ale dogoniłem gościa i
odzyskałem co moje... hehe....

Thai militants warn tourists

THAILAND is bracing for increased terror attacks, including on foreigners, as
senior government members admit that trouble in the country's south is being
fuelled by separatist militants rather than drug-addicted bandits.

Australia and New Zealand joined other countries in warning against visiting
southern Thailand yesterday, a day after a militant group posted an internet
warning for tourists covering the popular tourist destinations of Phuket and
Krabi as well as the area closer to Malaysia where 108 militants, many of them
teenagers, were shot dead in battles with Thai authorities on Wednesday.

The warning came as a man arrested for leading the 11 simultaneous attacks on
police and military posts declared those who had died were fighting for a
separate Muslim state.

Many of the villagers who rushed to bury their dead did so without giving the
bodies a ritual Muslim cleansing - a sign the families believed they died
religious martyrs.

The Thai military had prior warning of Wednesday's pre-dawn attacks by the
militants, and the resulting bloodbath, which included the storming of a
historic mosque and the killing of 30 men who had earlier attempted to attack a
police post, has rocked Thailand and led to questions about the leadership of
Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

While Mr Thaksin was insisting as late as Thursday that the attack was the work
of bandits, he was being contradicted by his most senior deputy, General
Chavalit Youngchaiyudh.

"The Muslim militants in Thailand have demonstrated they are moving into a new
phase of terrorism. Escalating violence has been anticipated," General Chavalit
said.

BANGKOK - At least 200 students watched as a suspected Muslim rebels rode a
motorbike into an Islamic school in southern Thailand and shot to death a
Buddhist teacher, police said on Monday.

The gunmen shot Mr Jai Intarapo, 50, five times as he stepped out of a
classroom during a lunch break at Sannana Ponoh school in Pattani province,
said Major-General Manoj Kraiwong, the chief of the regional police.

He said Intarapo taught the Thai language at the school, whose students are all
Muslims.

Intarapo is the latest Buddhist civilian victim in the growing violence in the
south that has recently begun to take sectarian overtones. Last month, a
Buddhist rubber tapper was beheaded and earlier this month a Buddhist shrine
was ransacked.

In the past, the militants usually targeted policemen and village headmen for
siding with the government. At least 283 people have been killed in the
violence in the south this year.

Guard's throat slashed, another bomb in Thailand's restive south

BANGKOK : Violence flared in Thailand's Muslim south overnight as attackers
slashed the throat of a volunteer security guard and another bomb rattled the
restive region, police said.

Abdulnasea Katoorae was critically wounded when he was attacked by six armed
men who stormed a Pattani province school Thursday night and stole weapons from
him and other guards.

"The victim was hospitalised in Yala provincial hospital and his condition is
critical," Sub-lieutenant Suchoke Phoomeechokechai told AFP.

Thai authorities have trained volunteer civil guards in weapons use and
supplied them with guns to help counter a wave of violence by suspected Islamic
separatists in the southernmost provinces which has left nearly 200 people dead
this year.

The attack on the guard came hours after a home-made bomb exploded outside the
home of the chief of Yala's Sungai Kolok district. No one was injured in the
blast, police said.

"This bomb was aimed at intimidating authorities and not meant to take anyone's
life," a district policeman said.

Three other small bombs exploded in Yala on Wednesday without causing
casualties. Authorities believe they are aimed at sewing fear and communal
tensions in the region.

Two of the bombs reportedly exploded within 15 minutes and 100 metres (yards)
of each other in Yala's Than To district.

In Bangkok, Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra called a meeting of his top
security officials to try to hash out new methods to quell the unrest in the
south.

"I have to listen to their information and find out their opinions, but our
government officials must take a more offensive and strategic approach," he
told reporters.

Thailand's south has endured decades of separatist violence. After a period of
relative peace, trouble flared at the start of this year with bombings and
murders targeting officials, security forces and Buddhist monks.

The violence reached a peak on April 28 when 108 suspected Muslim rebels were
killed when they launched raids on police posts and checkpoints.

Three Buddhist temples were bombed in mid-May and an elderly Buddhist man was
decapitated last month.

On Wednesday thousands of teachers in the south held a rally demanding the
government provide better security after one of their colleagues was shot dead.

Government has vowed to crack down on Islamic separatists.

The three separate incidents, which came as an economic ministerial delegation
was touring the region, were the latest in a spate of violence against state
officials, including teachers, that has claimed more than 200 lives since
January.

A gunman riding pillion on a motorcycle shot and killed the Muslim chief clerk
of a village administrative body in Narathiwat province, police said.

"He was shot in front of his office while he was about to start his morning
work," an officer at the Rangae district police station told Reuters.

In nearby Pattani province, one of two men on a motorcycle shot a 54-year-old
Muslim former policeman in the face while he was riding with his wife on a
motorcycle, police said.

The man, the second retired officer to be ambushed by gunmen in two days, was
in a stable condition.

Gunmen have also killed a Buddhist former police sergeant as he rode a
motorcycle home from a fishing expedition.

Police said both shootings might have been related to the unrest in the deep
south of the predominantly Buddhist country.

The third victim was a 25-year-old female aid worker shot by two gunmen at her
rural development office in Yala province, police said.

Israeli parents blame Thai police for covering up son's murder

The relatives of Ron Rezin, a 27-year-old businessman from Netanya who was
recently killed in Bangkok, Thailand, said Thursday that Thai police concealed
his body and covered up the fact he was murdered.

Army Radio reported Thursday that Rezin arrived in Thailand on March 22 for a
trip and disappeared three days later.

His family has been searching for him since his disappearance. Only after a
month and a half of searching did they discover his body was being held in the
Bangkok pathological institute.

The Rezin family said they were never informed their son's body was in the
institute.

According to the radio, Bangkok police claimed Rezin was killed after falling
off a building, but upon examining a film that documented the finding his body
his family said they suspect he was robbed and murdered.

They accuse Thai police of hiding the body to cover up the circumstances of
their son's death, and noted that police provided conflicting testimonies
regarding his death.

niemal zawsze gdy jest jakieś doniesienie o śmierci turysty w Bangkoku, policja
jako przyczynę śmierci podaje: "wypadł z budynku" albo jakiś inny rodzaj
samobójstwa.

Przypomina mi się jedna z wielu spraw z zeszłego roku, gdy wypadł z okna jeden
Brytyjczyk.
Dziennikarze z Nation prześledzili te sprawę: facet zaprosił na kolację jakąś
dziewczynę, rano ona wyszła po zakupy, on zaś ubrał się, nakrył do stołu, po
czym nie czekając na dziewuszkę z zakupami "wg policji wyskoczył z okna i
popełnił samobójstwo." Sprawa zamknięta.

Niestety bardzo często tak właśnie się kończą wszelkie dochdzenia w sprawie
śmierci obcokrajowców.
Tak jak gazety stosują autocenzurę, aby chronić wizerunek kraju, tak i policja
trzyma się wlasnego prikazu, aby w miarę możliwości tuszować takie sprawy. W
efekcie niemal każdy obcokrajowiec w Tajlandii "nie ginie", tylko "popełnia
samobójstwo".

Po prostu trzeba uważać. Warto pojechać do Tajlandii - dopóki wszystko jest OK,
dopóty wszystko jest OK (tak jak wszędzie), ale warto też wiedzieć, że w
przypadku jakichkolwiek problemów, obcokrajowiec jest traktowany gorzej od
Taja, a ci też nie są traktowani przez policję najlepiej. To wszystko.

Two Chinese salesmen gunned down in Thailand's restive south

BANGKOK : Two Chinese travelling salesmen have been gunned down in southern Thailand as part of separatist violence which has claimed more than 275 lives since the start of the year, officials said.

So Si-Huang, 42, and Huang Giang-ju, 19, were rushed to hospital after being shot in the legs by four men on two motorbikes Sunday as they sold blankets to villagers in Narathiwat province, said police.

"It was not robbery as the gunmen did not taken any money," a police spokesman told AFP, adding the attacks were most likely aimed at stirring up further trouble in the majority-Muslim Thai south.

Alleged separatists also torched a school in the same province Sunday and district official from neighbouring Yala province was arrested with dynamite and ammunition during a raid by security forces, police said.

The raid as well as gun and arson attacks followed the deaths of a policeman and a soldier Saturday, who were also gunned down by men on motorbikes. 11 religious students were arrested over the death of the policeman. - AFP

Teraz znajdujesz jakąś notkę prasową o tym, że na południu kraju paru
bandziorów zastrzeliło dwóch Chińczyków. Co to ma wspólnego z Twoim własnym

zdecydowana. Zlodzieje, mordercy, zboczency itd. zyja wszedzie i trzeba duzo
zlej woli zeby akurat Tajlandie opisywac jako niebezpieczny kraj. Bywaja
niestety biali, ktorym po wlaniu w siebie 10 piw marki Singha, wydaje sie, ze
sa z rasy panow. Takich kretynow sam bym zdzielil po pysku.

dlatego podwyzszaja statystyke... Ja tam bylam ponad rok i jakos nie
zauwazylam, by bylo tam niebezpiecznie. Zwiedzilam juz wiele krajow i

Five killed in Thailand

Oct 8: Separatist militants killed five people and injured five more in a series of gun attacks days after a Thai cabinet reshuffle prompted by the failure to stem violence in the Muslim-majority south.

Militants launched 11 separate attacks overnight in three southern provinces worst-hit by an insurgency that has left more than 320 dead this year, according to officials. The dead were a 36-year-old policeman shot six times Friday by a pair of attackers on motorbike, a soldier and three civilians, according to reports compiled by police. The 11 attacks marked a sharp increase on the regular level of violence which has continued almost daily with ambushes and occasional bomb attacks since a resurgence in decades-old strife in January.

Thai policeman surrenders amid investigation into tourists' deaths

A Thai policeman suspected of shooting dead two British tourists gave himself up and confessed yesterday after nearly a month on the run, police said.

Sergeant Somchai Visetsing, 39, fled into Myanmar after the shootings and surrendered to Thai officials at the border accompanied by his lawyer, they said.

Vanessa Arscott, 24, and her boyfriend Adam Lloyd, 25, were shot and killed on September 9 at Kanchanaburi in western Thailand - close to the famous Bridge on the River Kwai - after a row with the off-duty officer at a restaurant he part-owned.

"The suspect has already confessed and in the afternoon we will conduct a re-enactment of the crime," regional police commander Lieutenant Colonel Chaiyant Maklamthong told Thai television network iTV.

"He told us he had been attacked first by the victim and he couldn't fight back so he used his gun to shoot them," he said.

Police told AFP the suspect surrendered at the Three Pagoda Pass on the Thai-Myanmar border at 6:00 a.m. (local time) and was being held in Kanchanaburi.

Somchai became the key suspect for the killings after he was seen arguing with the Britons in the early hours of the morning in the quiet tourist town.

Somchai fought with Lloyd and allegedly shot him several times after leaving the restaurant where the couple had been drinking, according to police.

After Lloyd was shot, police allege Somchai followed Arscott in his car, ran her down and shot her twice. Police said the motive for the attack was unclear.

Police searched his car and found bloodstains and a bullet similar to those used in the killings.

His wife drove him to a hospital near the scene of the killings hours after the shooting because of injuries to his face but he was not seen for weeks afterwards.

Co do GOA nie zgadzam się - przecież większość tych ćpaczy to właśnie zblazowani biali turyści, którzy spóźnili się na legendę i nie mają dość inteligencji i energii, aby stworzyć swoją własną legendę, więc jeżdżą na GOA aby się naćpać, nachlać, narżnąć i opowiadać: "Wiesz, byłem w Indiach, było cool... Co do Hindusek za 5 dolców, są tam nie tylko hinduski i nie tylko za 5 dolców... Niestety w temat nie wnikałem, więc dokładniejszych info na temat zależności cen od rasy, wieku i zdrowia lokalnych prostytutek ci nie udzielę, bo nie wiem i nie chcę wiedzieć. Ale będąc tam czasem trzeba sie niemal kopniakami opędzać od młodych azjatyckich kurewek, takiego ich mrowia nie widziałem nigdzie indziej, może w Tajlandii...

W Indiach faktycznie jest sporo dziczy, ale przecież to po prostu inny świat. Naprawdę nie wiesz jak wielką barierą w poznaniu prawdziwych Indii jest twoja biała skóra i brak znajomości lokalnych języków. Ale ta dzicz w Indiach to faktycznie pewien fragment tylko, spory bo spory, ale fragment.

Co do tajskiej policji, niestety jest to instytucja której lepiej unikać, już sporo ludzi opowiadało historie o haraczach i wymuszeniach na białych naiwnych turystach.
To nie jest jednostkowe zjawisko, natomiast ten biedaczek Brytyjczyk to oczywiście miał pecha - być może nie chciał zapłacić, choć za co miałby płacic - nie wiem.
Warto zauważyć, że tajski policjant po zabiciu młodego chłopaka wsiadł spokojnie do samochodu ruszył w pościg za uciekającą 24-letnią turystką, dogonił ją po czym z zimna krwią dokonał na niej egzekucji.

Właściwie nie ma się co dziwić - jeszcze nie tak dawno tajska policja wymordowała prawie 3000 osób, często kobiet, matek w biały dzień w ramach wojny on drugs. Po prostu inna mentalność. Jak wszędzie.

Czy nie wydaje Ci sie że uogólniasz i to mocno??? Byłem na Goa-3 dni i tam
naprawde jest mozliwośc odpoczynku bez seksu,dragów i hektolitrów wódy. Masz

nie musiałem odpedzać sie od prostytutek, nie wciskali mi na każdym kroku

wrażen ludzie.
Inna mentalnosc piszesz-uszanuj ja a nie potepiaj w czambuł. Cywilizacja
azjatycka jest INNA niz nasza co nie znaczy ze gorsza.
Nparawde jest wiele mniej ciekawych miejsc na swiecie-RPA, Brazylia...
Przejezdzając Tajlandie wszerz i wzdłóz byłem kontrol jakos zyje ,nie siedze w
więzieniu. W kazdym hostelu spotykałem ludzi którzy tez nie mówili o
krwiozerczych bestiach w mundurach, tylko własnie o bardzo ciepłym podejsciu do
nas,turystów.Co do wojny z dragami-ich prawo ich problem.

Coż mam swoje opinie. Trudno mi uznawać barbarzyństwo za równorzędną inność cywilizacyjną. Tu równości nie ma. Jeśli ktoś wyznaje kulturę w której zabijanie jest akceptowane, nie ważne zły czy dobry, to trudno uznać to za kulturę równorzędną tylko inną. To po prostu gorsza kultura, a właściwie jej brak.
III Rzesza też miała wspaniała kulturę - nie złą, po prostu inną (można by rzec).

No ale nic to, lubie konfrontować przeciwieństwa i porównywać ten głupawy naiwny wizerunek Tajlandii (wynikający nota bene z tajskiej cenzury w mediach) z reczywistością.

Podobny wizerunek np. stworzyły sobie Chiny gdzie rokrocznie morduje się dziesiątki, o ile nie setki, tysięcy ludzi (wliczając "chińska prowincje Tybet").

Przypomina mi się wtedy czytana w gdańskim archiwum gazeta niemiecka z 1942 roku - jakaś tam niemiecka prasa gdańska, nie pamiętam tytułu, bo już z 10 lat temu to było - więc mamy rok 1942, niedaleko Stutthof, trochę dalej Oświęcim, a w gazecie reklamy biur turystycznych, uśmiechnięte twarze, eleganccy panowie, ładne panie, zaproszenia na bale noworoczne, na wycieczki itp...

Wielu ludzi za granicą tak widziało wówczas te okolice Polski, jak my widzimy dziś niektóre okolice w Azji.


Co do policjanta, ciągle zastanawia mnie to, że gdy zabił już chłopaka, wyszedł, wsiadł do samochodu, ruszył w pościg za bogu ducha winną dziewczyną, dogonił ją po czym dokonał na niej egzekucji z zimna krwią. Tak sie nie zachowuje normalny człowiek, a już zwłaszcza ktoś kto nosi mundur. Chyba, że to różnica cywilizacyjna, no to wtedy muszę jechać do Tajlandii po raz 5 aby nadal poznawać ten piękny kraj, bo kraj (jako miejsce na ziemi) jest faktycznie piekny, byle daleko od miast i kurortów.

Aha, przypomniałem sobie przygodę znajomych co poszli w Cha Am do jakiejś knajpy napić się piwa, zamówili parę drinków, stracili przytomność, obudzili się bez kasy gdzieś w krzakach, poszli na policję, ta ich z niechęcią wysłuchała i tak sie to skończyło. Ich szczęście, że zostawili karty w hotelu i że mieli troche gotówki w kieszeni. Byli też potem u lekarza - stwierdzono zatrucie narkotykami.

Przypomniała mi sie też inna historia Turka z Pattaya (gość prowadzi hotel), który jechał mopedem z kolegą, na ulicę wyskoczyła Tajka, Turek skręcił co by jej nie przejechać, wywrócili sie, Tajka poturbowana ale cała, kolega turka uraz czaszki, nieprzytomny, turek wzywa pogotowie, pogotowie przyjeżdża, wówczas pojawia się tajka z mamusią i z policją, a policja każe turkowi płacić Tajce karę już nawet nie pamiętam jaką. Pogotowie chce zabrać rannego, policja mówi, że nie pusci, póki Turek nie zapłaci. Ranny umierający, Turek pędzi gdzieś do bankomatu po kasę, przybiega po 15 minutach, pogotowie dalej nie może jechać, policja bierze kasę (to było jakieś kilkanaście tysięcy ichniejszych bahtów), daje częśc pieniędzy dziewczynie, pogotowie może w końcu jechać o szpitala, ranny zdechł. To jedna z wielu sytuacji które codziennie zachodzą.

Jeszcze inna historia o turystce z Niemiec (dziewczyna, 20 kilka lat) znalezionej na plaży w Pattaya - kilkadziesiąt ciosów nożem...


Z żałością wspominam pierwszy wyjazd do Tajlandii przed laty, gdy zupełnie nic nie wiedziałem o tym kraju, nie czytałem, bo była to fascynacja od pierwszego wejrzenia. Na nieszczęście lubię czytać o miejscach w których byłem, do których się wybieram... A im więcej się wie o jakimś kraju tym więcej realizmu. Co za szkoda.

Nasza cywilizacja też daje przyzwolenie na zabijanie-USA, do niedawna kraje
europejskie. Jest to jedna z cech WSZYSTKICH kultur- Zycie wbrew pozorom nie
jest święte;)
Hmmm,nie porównuj III Rzeszy z cywilizacja azjatycka, gdyz to oznacza że jej
nie znasz. Czym innym jest założenie że inni nie są ludzmi (III Rzesza) a co
innego brutalna metoda walki z przestępczością.
Ludzie chorzy w mundurach zdarzają się także w Polsce- pamiętasz żołnierza,
który zastrzelił 4 swoich kolegów z warty? Tylko w Azji? To mi wygląfda
klapkami na oczach.
Jak się przypatrzysz swoim postom to nie zauważysz tam realizmu tylko ziejącą
nienawiśc do innych. Realizm jednak wskazuje ze przytłaczająca większość ludzi
wraca, jest zadowolona i chce tam wrócic. Nie jesteś jedyna osoba która ma
dostęp do artykułów "'ocenzurowanych". Gdybym zaczął analizować doniesienia ze
świata to praktycznie nigdzie nie mógłbym pojechać, bo "dzicz", przemoc,
oszustwo- może w Suomi byłby spokój;)
Mniejsza dawka zacietrzewienia jest wskazana gdy człowiek wydaje oceny względem
innych. I tego życzę.

The two victims were shot as they stopped to buy fruit at a market in Narathiwat province, police said.

More than 350 people have died so far this year, in violence blamed on Muslim separatists.

Symbols of the mainly Buddhist Thai state, such as major buildings and security personnel, are often targets.

Of the two men killed on Wednesday, one was a policeman and the other a retired police officer.

Thailand to tackle kingdom's supernatural obsession after occult killing The Thai government announced plans on Wednesday to tackle the kingdom's obsession with the supernatural following the brutal slaying of a young girl by her family in an occult ritual.

The government said it would launch a public awareness campaign to rid the nation of non-traditional supernatural beliefs, and would require all people working as psychics or mystical healers to report to local officials.

The crackdown was sparked by the horrific murder of a 12-year-old Thai girl last week who allegedly had her throat repeatedly slashed by her mother, grandmother and two aunts in a ritual to rid her of an evil spirit.

Police found Prapasorn Jiamcharoen dead in a pool of blood with multiple slash wounds to her neck as the women chanted upstairs to a Hindu goddess they had built a cult around.

"We will not force people to change their beliefs by law but we will educate them that some beliefs, like killing people, are a crime and it is not the right think to do," Thaweesin Wisanuyothin of the Thai Department of Mental Health told AFP.

"There are some groups of people who are just criminals and they want to take advantage of people by providing false beliefs," he said.

Interior ministry officials were set to begin investigating psychics linked to illegal activities such as fraud, while the culture ministry and department of mental health would focus on education, according to the Bangkok Post.

About 95 percent of Thais are Buddhist but a strong animist tradition remains, with "spirit doctors" across the country who say they can help rid people of curses and ghosts.

Thaweesin said the campaign would only target non-traditional beliefs deemed to be dangerous or detrimental to people.

"Most beliefs are good because this means people are solving their own mental problems," said Thaweesin.

Death toll explodes to 84 after Thai protests

At least 84 people were killed in clashes with Thai security forces during
protests in Thailand's strife-hit Muslim-majority south yesterday, Thai
officials said.

Most of the victims died from suffocation after being taken into detention,
officials told reporters, and six were confirmed dead from the clashes in the
southern province of Narathiwat.

"After we brought people who were arrested into detention, we found that
another 78 people were dead," Manit Suthaporn, deputy permanent secretary from
the Thai Justice Ministry, said.

"According to the investigation of the dead bodies, they died because of
suffocation."

Officials said the 78 dead were in addition to the six demonstrators who died
yesterday after police broke up a protest outside a police station with tear
gas and water cannon.

"We found no wound from guns or bullets on their bodies. We found only the
wounds from the clash. We can confirmed that they all died from suffocation,"
Mr Manit said.

"The bodies of people who were arrested were weak because of fasting. It caused
them to be fatigued and when they came into crowded cars there was no air to
breathe," the official said.

Forensic scientist Pornthip Rojansunan told the press conference in Pattani
confirmed the 78 were in addition to the six yesterday and were from those who
were arrested.

The Thai government earlier said more than 1,000 people were arrested over the
clashes.

"Eighty per cent of them died because they could not breathe," Ms Rojansun
said.

Two bombs rocked southern Thailand yesterday, wounding at least 20 people, as Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra vowed there would be no cover up of the deaths of 87 Muslim detainees in the volatile region.

Yesterday's coordinated bombings followed a blast late on Thursday that left two people dead and about 20 wounded after a separatist group vowed revenge for the detainees who died in the custody of Thai security forces.

Thailand's Muslim-dominated south is in the grips of a violent separatist insurgency that surged to life early this year and has since left at least 417 people dead. It has rattled Thaksin's administration, which has come under fire for its handling of the unrest.

"In my national TV address [scheduled for later yesterday], there won't be anything covered up," Thaksin vowed amid domestic and international concern over allegations of excessive use of force in the predominantly Buddhist kingdom.

The latest bombings happened in the southern town of Yala during morning rush hour. Eight people were wounded, including three police, when the first bomb went off beside the road near a tea shop and kindergarten, police and hospital officials said.

Another device exploded less than 90 minutes later at the same location, wounding 12 police, including forensics experts investigating the first bombing, police said. Local television showed officers carrying away their wounded colleagues who appeared to be screaming in pain.

It was the third bombing in just over 12 hours in the south.

A Malaysian man and a Thai bar worker died on Thursday night in the border town of Sungai Kolok when a bomb exploded outside a beer bar, officials said. About 20 others were wounded.

The blast came shortly after Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak was quoted as saying Malaysians should avoid southern Thailand because it is "not peaceful and unstable."

An outlawed separatist group had vowed revenge over the deaths of 87 Thai Muslims after a protest on Monday in Narathiwat province.

Six were shot dead at the demonstration and another 78 were crushed to death or suffocated after they were arrested and crammed onto military transport trucks.

Three more drowned in a river near the protest site, the foreign ministry said.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Louise Arbour called on Thailand "to conduct a swift and independent investigation into each death, to refrain from excessive use of force and from the use of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment."

Thaksin has launched an inquiry by government officials but stopped short of an apology. He defended the actions of his officers, blaming fasting during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and drug use among protesters for Monday's high death toll.

Most of the dead suffocated when 1,300 people were arrested and stuffed into vehicles for at least six hours, after police and troops had used water cannon, gunfire and tear gas to break up the demonstration.

Detainees, however, told a visiting senators' delegation that they had been beaten by police and troops and stacked five-deep in trucks, where many fellow protesters suffocated or were crushed to death.

"They said they were beaten up before they were put on the trucks," where they were "laid as high as five people deep," Senator Kraisak Choonhavan said on Thursday after meeting dozens of the detainees.

Suspected Islamic rebels behead Buddhist in Thailand

BANGKOK, Thailand - Suspected Islamic militants beheaded a Buddhist man in Thailand's tumultuous south, the second such killing in retaliation for the deaths of 85 Muslims at the hands of security forces last month, police said Tuesday.

The decapitated body of a 60-year-old laborer was found Tuesday in a hut at the rubber plantation where he worked in the village of Changpeuk in Narathiwat province, said police Lt. Boonserm Klaewatee. Officials said the man's last name was Kaew; his first name was not available.

Kaew's head, found nearby, had been slashed repeatedly, apparently by a machete, he said.

Police found four handwritten letters with the body, all of which said: "This is not enough. More will be killed in revenge for the innocents that were killed in the Tak Bai massacre."

At least 85 Muslims died on Oct. 25 when security forces cracked down on a violent protest outside a police station in Narathiwat's Tak Bai district. Most of the victims suffocated or were crushed after being stacked in trucks and taken to an army camp.

Kaew is the third Buddhist man to be beheaded by suspected Muslim insurgents in southern Thailand this year, and the second in retaliation for the Tak Bai incident. The head of an assistant village leader was found last week with a similar letter.

Earlier Tuesday, masked men stormed houses in Pattani province and stole 10 shotguns, said police Maj. Gen. Thanachareon Suwanno. The government has distributed hundreds of shotguns to villages in southern Thailand, and officials fear many of the weapons may have fallen into the hands of insurgents.

"They will use these stolen guns to kill the innocent people," Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra told reporters Tuesday. "At least four or five innocent people have been killed every day. The lives of innocent people are in serious danger."

More than 500 guns, rocket-propelled grenades and tons of dynamite and fertilizer used for bombs have been stolen from military facilities and private companies since January.

More than 500 people have been killed this year in attacks blamed mostly on Muslim insurgents. The unrest is part of a revived Islamic insurgency that began to emerge in recent years, officials say.

przestępczością. Kraj jest w zasadzie bezpieczny dla turystów, ale dość często
(zwłaszcza w hotelach) zdarzają się kradzieże pieniędzy, sprzętu
fotograficznego i dokumentów oraz próby naciągania turystów na wyższe opłaty.
Nie należy zawierać znajomości z przypadkowo poznanymi osobami ani też
korzystać z poczęstunku np. cukierkami, papierosami lub napojami, szczególnie w
nocnych lokalach, pubach itp.

BEZPIECZEŃSTWO W KRAJU . Sytuacja w Iraku i generalnie niestabilne
uwarunkowania procesu bliskowschodniego wywierają pośrednio negatywny wpływ na
bezpieczeństwo całego regionu, w tym i Egiptu. Wszystkie wycieczki autokarowe w
czasie podróży po Egipcie eskortowane są przez policję, a utrzymywanie przez
władze szczególnych środków ostrożności jest następstwem zamachów
terrorystycznych, jakie miały miejsce w latach 90. Mimo iż ostatni z nich
zdarzył się w 1997 r. w Luksorze (zginęło wówczas 58 turystów), to jednak nie

W Egipcie byłem po raz 2. Jest super-bezpieczny dla Turystów. Być może gdyby
się szukało problemów to by się je znalazło.
Z opisu MSZ wynika, że Tajlandia powinna byc o wiele bezpieczniejsza.
Oczywiście T to także stolica swiatowa prostytucji, dodając narkotyki, więc i
gangi, mafię itp. nie można oczekiwać by tam ludzie nie gineli.

Polecam Tajlandie-naprawe bezpiecznie, poruszałem sie zarówno po stolicy jak i
po zapadłych wioskach i nie miałem ani jednej sytuacji niebezpiecznej. Tak samo
było w Malezji. Jedyne zagrożenie to aktualnie południowe prowincje Tajlandii-
separatysci muzułmańscy sie burzą, więc tam trzeba ostrozność zachowac. Ogólnie
jast jak w każdym kraju-szukasz kłopotów to znajdziesz.
Bilet? Aeroflot,Aerosvit i Lauda maja najtansze oferty. Leciałem Lauda do BKK i
wracałem z SIN i w sezonie naszym-czerwiec/lipiec zapłaciłem 2800zł. W zimie
może być sporo taniej.

BRITISH MAN KILLED IN THAI TOURIST TOWN


A British man has been stabbed to death in southern Thailand.

Richard Mark Collins, 35, from Hereford, was killed on Tuesday night in the
tourist town of Krabi.


Police have arrested a 29-year-old Thai taxi driver on murder-related charges.

Uthen Duangnoi told police he stabbed Mr Collins out of anger after he made
sexual advances toward his girlfriend.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Jakra Sawakol said Mr Collins was stabbed twice and
rushed to a hospital, where he later died.

Mr Collins was reportedly in Thailand working for Thai Heritage, one of several
companies building a new international airport on the outskirts of Bangkok.

He lived in Bangkok with girlfriend, Panida Meedi, 24, and was reportedly
friends with his assailant and his girlfriend.

"Richard went to their house, and I was informed that he was stabbed," Panida
said. "I don't now how it happened."
