More than 200 juicy pork shish kebabs sizzled on a massive grill outside
Astoria Restaurant at the corner of Danforth Ave. and Chester St. A lineup
snaked down the street and five staff in stained white aprons served them
faster than they could replace them on the grill.

"We've made 10,000 sticks already," said William Sciouris, part-owner and
operator of Astoria, as he wiped the sheen from his brow.

From last night to tomorrow, North America's largest Greek festival takes over
the Danforth between Broadview and Donlands subway stations. About 100
restaurants will offer a taste of their best for $5 or less.
