PART I - THE CENTRAL AND SUPERUNIVERSES
PAPER 1 - THE UNIVERSAL FATHER
THE Universal Father is the God of all creation, the First Source and Center
of all things and beings. First think of God as a creator, then as a
controller, and lastly as an infinite upholder. The truth about the Universal
Father had begun to dawn upon mankind when the prophet said: "You, God, are
alone; there is none beside you. You have created the heaven and the heaven of
heavens, with all their hosts; you preserve and control them. By the Sons of
God were the universes made. The Creator covers himself with light as with a
garment and stretches out the heavens as a curtain." Only the concept of the
Universal Father--one God in the place of many gods--enabled mortal man to
comprehend the Father as divine creator and infinite controller.

The myriads of planetary systems were all made to be eventually
inhabited by many different types of intelligent creatures, beings who could
know God, receive the divine affection, and love him in return. The universe
of universes is the work of God and the dwelling place of his diverse
creatures. "God created the heavens and formed the earth; he established the
universe and created this world not in vain; he formed it to be inhabited."

The enlightened worlds all recognize and worship the Universal
Father, the eternal maker and infinite upholder of all creation. The will
creatures of universe upon universe have embarked upon the long, long Paradise
journey, the fascinating struggle of the eternal adventure of attaining God
the Father. The transcendent goal of the children of time is to find the
eternal God, to comprehend the divine nature, to recognize the Universal
Father. God-knowing creatures have only one supreme ambition, just one
consuming desire, and that is to become, as they are in their spheres, like
him as he is in his Paradise perfection of personality and in his universal
sphere of righteous supremacy. From the Universal Father who inhabits eternity
there has gone forth the supreme mandate, "Be you perfect, even as I am
perfect." In love and mercy the messengers of Paradise have carried this
divine exhortation down through the ages and out through the universes, even
to such lowly animal-origin creatures as the human races of Urantia.

This magnificent and universal injunction to strive for the
attainment of the perfection of divinity is the first duty, and should be the
highest ambition, of all the struggling creature creation of the God of
perfection. This possibility of the attainment of divine perfection is the
final and certain destiny of all man's eternal spiritual progress.

Urantia mortals can hardly hope to be perfect in the infinite sense,
but it is entirely possible for human beings, starting out as they do on this
planet, to attain the supernal and divine goal which the infinite God has set
for mortal man; and when they do achieve this destiny, they will, in all that
pertains to self-realization and mind attainment, be just as replete in their
sphere of divine perfection as God himself is in his sphere of infinity and
eternity. Such perfection may not be universal in the material sense,
unlimited in intellectual grasp, or final in spiritual experience, but it is
final and complete in all finite aspects of divinity of will, perfection of
personality motivation, and God-consciousness.

This is the true meaning of that divine command, "Be you perfect,
even as I am perfect," which ever urges mortal man onward and beckons him
inward in that long and fascinating struggle for the attainment of higher and
higher levels of spiritual values and true universe meanings. This sublime
search for the God of universes is the supreme adventure of the inhabitants of
all the worlds of time and space.

1. THE FATHER'S NAME
Of all the names by which God the Father is known throughout the
universes, those which designate him as the First Source and the Universe
Center are most often encountered. The First Father is known by various names
in different universes and in different sectors of the same universe. The
names which the creature assigns to the Creator are much dependent on the
creature's concept of the Creator. The First Source and Universe Center has
never revealed himself by name, only by nature. If we believe that we are the
children of this Creator, it is only natural that we should eventually call
him Father. But this is the name of our own choosing, and it grows out of the
recognition of our personal relationship with the First Source and Center.

The Universal Father never imposes any form of arbitrary
recognition, formal worship, or slavish service upon the intelligent will
creatures of the universes. The evolutionary inhabitants of the worlds of time
and space must of themselves--in their own hearts--recognize, love, and
voluntarily worship him. The Creator refuses to coerce or compel the
submission of the spiritual free wills of his material creatures. The
affectionate dedication of the human will to the doing of the Father's will is
man's choicest gift to God; in fact, such a consecration of creature will
constitutes man's only possible gift of true value to the Paradise Father. In
God, man lives, moves, and has his being; there is nothing which man can give
to God except this choosing to abide by the Father's will, and such decisions,
effected by the intelligent will creatures of the universes, constitute the
reality of that true worship which is so satisfying to the love-dominated
nature of the Creator Father.

When you have once become truly God-conscious, after you really
discover the majestic Creator and begin to experience the realization of the
indwelling presence of the divine controller, then, in accordance with your
enlightenment and in accordance with the manner and method by which the divine
Sons reveal

God, you will find a name for the Universal Father which will be adequately
expressive of your concept of the First Great Source and Center. And so, on
different worlds and in various universes, the Creator becomes known by
numerous appellations, in spirit of relationship all meaning the same but, in
words and symbols, each name standing for the degree, the depth, of his
enthronement in the hearts of his creatures of any given realm.

Near the center of the universe of universes, the Universal Father
is generally known by names which may be regarded as meaning the First Source.
Farther out in the universes of space, the terms employed to designate the
Universal Father more often mean the Universal Center. Still farther out in

Founder and leader of the Nazi Party, Reich Chancellor and guiding spirit of
the Third Reich from 1933 to 1945, Head of State and Supreme Commander of the
Armed Forces, Adolf Hitler was born in Braunau am Inn, Austria, on 20 April
1889. The son of a fifty-two-year-old Austrian customs official, Alois
Schickelgruber Hitler, and his third wife, a young peasant girl, Klara Poelzl,
both from the backwoods of lower Austria, the young Hitler was a resentful,
discontented child. Moody, lazy, of unstable temperament, he was deeply hostile
towards his strict, authoritarian father and strongly attached to his
indulgent, hard-working mother, whose death from cancer in December 1908 was a
shattering blow to the adolescent Hitler.

After spending four years in the Realschule in Linz, he left school at the age
of sixteen with dreams of becoming a painter. In October 1907 the provincial,
middle-class boy left home for Vienna, where he was to remain until 1913
leading a bohemian, vagabond existence. Embittered at his rejection by the
Viennese Academy of Fine Arts, he was to spend "five years of misery and woe"
in Vienna as he later recalled, adopting a view of life which changed very
little in the ensuing years, shaped as it was by a pathological hatred of Jews
and Marxists, liberalism and the cosmopolitan Habsburg monarchy.

Existing from hand to mouth on occasional odd jobs and the hawking of sketches
in low taverns, the young Hitler compensated for the frustrations of a lonely
bachelor's life in miserable male hostels by political harangues in cheap cafes
to anyone who would listen and indulging in grandiose dreams of a Greater
Germany.

In Vienna he acquired his first education in politics by studying the demagogic
techniques of the popular Christian-social Mayor, Karl Lueger, and picked up
the stereotyped, obsessive anti-Semitism with its brutal, violent sexual
connotations and concern with the "purity of blood" that remained with him to
the end of his career. From crackpot racial theorists like the defrocked monk,
Lanz von Liebenfels, and the Austrian Pan-German leader, Georg von Schoenerer,
the young Hitler learned to discern in the "Eternal Jew" the symbol and cause
of all chaos, corruption and destruction in culture, politics and the economy.
The press, prostitution, syphilis, capitalism, Marxism, democracy and pacifism--
all were so many means which "the Jew" exploited in his conspiracy to undermine
the German nation and the purity of the creative Aryan race.

In May 1913 Hitler left Vienna for Munich and, when war broke out in August
1914, he joined the Sixteenth Bavarian Infantry Regiment, serving as a despatch
runner. Hitler proved an able, courageous soldier, receiving the Iron Cross
(First Class) for bravery, but did not rise above the rank of Lance Corporal.
Twice wounded, he was badly gassed four weeks before the end of the war and
spent three months recuperating in a hospital in Pomerania. Temporarily blinded
and driven to impotent rage by the abortive November 1918 revolution in Germany
as well as the military defeat, Hitler, once restored, was convinced that fate
had chosen him to rescue a humiliated nation from the shackles of the
Versailles Treaty, from Bolsheviks and Jews.

Assigned by the Reichswehr in the summer of 1919 to "educational" duties which
consisted largely of spying on political parties in the overheated atmosphere
of post-revolutionary Munich, Hitler was sent to investigate a small
nationalistic group of idealists, the German Workers' Party. On 16 September
1919 he entered the Party (which had approximately forty members), soon changed
its name to the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) and had
imposed himself as its Chairman by July 1921.

Hitler discovered a powerful talent for oratory as well as giving the new Party
its symbol--the swastika--and its greeting "Heil!." His hoarse, grating voice,
for all the bombastic, humourless, histrionic content of his speeches,
dominated audiences by dint of his tone of impassioned conviction and gift for
self-dramatization. By November 1921 Hitler was recognized as Fuhrer of a
movement which had 3,000 members, and boosted his personal power by organizing
strong- arm squads to keep order at his meetings and break up those of his
opponents. Out of these squads grew the storm troopers (SA) organized by
Captain Ernst Rohm and Hitler's black-shirted personal bodyguard, the
Schutzstaffel (SS).

Hitler focused his propaganda against the Versailles Treaty, the "November
criminals," the Marxists and the visible, internal enemy No. 1, the "Jew," who
was responsible for all Germany's domestic problems. In the twenty-five-point
programme of the NSDAP announced on 24 February 1920, the exclusion of the Jews
from the Volk community, the myth of Aryan race supremacy and extreme
nationalism were combined with "socialistic" ideas of profit-sharing and
nationalization inspired by ideologues like Gottfried Feder. Hitler's first
written utterance on political questions dating from this period emphasized
that what he called "the anti-Semitism of reason" must lead "to the systematic
combating and elimination of Jewish privileges. Its ultimate goal must
implacably be the total removal of the Jews."

By November 1923 Hitler was convinced that the Weimar Republic was on the verge
of collapse and, together with General Ludendorff and local nationalist groups,
sought to overthrow the Bavarian government in Munich. Bursting into a beer-
hall in Munich and firing his pistol into the ceiling, he shouted out that he
was heading a new provisional government which would carry through a revolution
against "Red Berlin." Hitler and Ludendorff then marched through Munich at the
head of 3,000 men, only to be met by police fire which left sixteen dead and
brought the attempted putsch to an ignominious end. Hitler was arrested and
tried on 26 February 1924, succeeding in turning the tables on his accusers
with a confident, propagandist speech which ended with the prophecy: "Pronounce
us guilty a thousand times over: the goddess of the eternal court of history
will smile and tear to pieces the State Prosecutor's submission and the court's
verdict for she acquits us." Sentenced to five years' imprisonment in Landsberg
fortress, Hitler was released after only nine months during which he dictated
Mein Kampf (My Struggle) to his loyal follower, Rudolf Hess. Subsequently
the "bible" of the Nazi Party, this crude, half-baked hotchpotch of primitive
Social Darwinism, racial myth, anti-Semitism and lebensraum fantasy had sold
over five million copies by 1939 and been translated into eleven languages.

The failure of the Beer-Hall putsch and his period of imprisonment transformed
Hitler from an incompetent adventurer into a shrewd political tactician, who
henceforth decided that he would never again confront the gun barrels of army
and police until they were under his command. He concluded that the road to
power lay not through force alone but through legal subversion of the Weimar
Constitution, the building of a mass movement and the combination of
parliamentary strength with extra-parliamentary street terror and intimidation.
Helped by Goering and Goebbels he began to reassemble his followers and rebuild
the movement which had disintegrated in his absence.

In January 1925 the ban on the Nazi Party was removed and Hitler regained

of the Party under Gregor Strasser, Hitler re-established himself in 1926 as
the ultimate arbiter to whom all factions appealed in an ideologically and
socially heterogeneous movement. Avoiding rigid, programmatic definitions of
National Socialism which would have undermined the charismatic nature of his
legitimacy and his claim to absolute leadership, Hitler succeeded in extending
his appeal beyond Bavaria and attracting both Right and Left to his movement.

Though the Nazi Party won only twelve seats in the 1928 elections, the onset of
the Great Depression with its devastating effects on the middle classes helped
Hitler to win over all those strata in German society who felt their economic
existence was threatened. In addition to peasants, artisans, craftsmen,
traders, small businessmen, ex-officers, students and declasse intellectuals,
the Nazis in 1929 began to win over the big industrialists, nationalist
conservatives and army circles. With the backing of the press tycoon, Alfred
Hugenberg, Hitler received a tremendous nationwide exposure just as the effects
of the world economic crisis hit Germany, producing mass unemployment, social
dissolution, fear and indignation. With demagogic virtuosity, Hitler played on
national resentments, feelings of revolt and the desire for strong leadership
using all the most modern techniques of mass persuasion to present himself as
Germany's redeemer and messianic saviour.

In the 1930 elections the Nazi vote jumped dramatically from 810,000 to
6,409,000 (18.3 percent of the total vote) and they received 107 seats in the
Reichstag. Prompted by Hjalmar Schacht and Fritz Thyssen, the great industrial
magnates began to contribute liberally to the coffers of the NSDAP, reassured
by Hitler's performance before the Industrial Club in Dusseldorf on 27 January
1932 that they had nothing to fear from the radicals in the Party. The
following month Hitler officially acquired German citizenship and decided to
run for the Presidency, receiving 13,418,011 votes in the run-off elections of
10 April 1931 as against 19,359,650 votes for the victorious von Hindenburg ,
but four times the vote for the communist candidate, Ernst Thaelmann. In the
Reichstag elections of July 1932 the Nazis emerged as the largest political
party in Germany, obtaining nearly fourteen million votes (37.3 per cent) and
230 seats. Although the NSDAP fell back in November 1932 to eleven million
votes (196 seats), Hitler was helped to power by a camarilla of conservative
politicians led by Franz von Papen, who persuaded the reluctant von Hindenburg
to nominate "the Bohemian corporal" as Reich Chancellor on 30 January 1933.

Once in the saddle, Hitler moved with great speed to outmanoeuvre his rivals,
virtually ousting the conservatives from any real participation in government
by July 1933, abolishing the free trade unions, eliminating the communists,
Social Democrats and Jews from any role in political life and sweeping
opponents into concentration camps. The Reichstag fire of 27 February 1933 had
provided him with the perfect pretext to begin consolidating the foundations of
a totalitarian one-party State, and special "enabling laws" were ramrodded
through the Reichstag to legalize the regime's intimidatory tactics.

With support from the nationalists, Hitler gained a majority at the
last "democratic" elections held in Germany on 5 March 1933 and with cynical
skill he used the whole gamut of persuasion, propaganda, terror and
intimidation to secure his hold on power. The seductive notions of "National
Awakening" and a "Legal Revolution" helped paralyse potential opposition and
disguise the reality of autocratic power behind a facade of traditional
institutions.

The destruction of the radical SA leadership under Ernst Rohm in the Blood
Purge of June 1934 confirmed Hitler as undisputed dictator of the Third Reich
and by the beginning of August, when he united the positions of Fuhrer and
Chancellor on the death of von Hindenburg, he had all the powers of State in
his hands. Avoiding any institutionalization of authority and status which
could challenge his own undisputed position as supreme arbiter, Hitler allowed
subordinates like Himmler, Goering and Goebbels to mark out their own domains
of arbitrary power while multiplying and duplicating offices to a bewildering
degree.

During the next four years Hitler enjoyed a dazzling string of domestic and
international successes, outwitting rival political leaders abroad just as he
had defeated his opposition at home. In 1935 he abandoned the Versailles Treaty
and began to build up the army by conscripting five times its permitted number.
He persuaded Great Britain to allow an increase in the naval building programme
and in March 1936 he occupied the demilitarized Rhineland without meeting
opposition. He began building up the Luftwaffe and supplied military aid to
Francoist forces in Spain, which brought about the Spanish fascist victory in
1939.

The German rearmament programme led to full employment and an unrestrained
expansion of production, which reinforced by his foreign policy successes--the
Rome-Berlin pact of 1936, the Anschluss with Austria and the "liberation" of
the Sudeten Germans in 1938--brought Hitler to the zenith of his popularity. In
February 1938 he dismissed sixteen senior generals and took personal command of
the armed forces, thus ensuring that he would be able to implement his
aggressive designs.

Hitler's saber-rattling tactics bludgeoned the British and French into the
humiliating Munich agreement of 1938 and the eventual dismantlement of the
Czechoslovakian State in March 1939. The concentration camps, the Nuremberg
racial laws against the Jews, the persecution of the churches and political
dissidents were forgotten by many Germans in the euphoria of Hitler's
territorial expansion and bloodless victories. The next designated target for
Hitler's ambitions was Poland (her independence guaranteed by Britain and
France) and, to avoid a two-front war, the Nazi dictator signed a pact of
friendship and non-aggression with Soviet Russia. On 1 September 1939 German
armies invaded Poland and henceforth his main energies were devoted to the
conduct of a war he had unleashed to dominate Europe and secure
Germany's "living space."

The first phase of World War II was dominated by German Blitzkrieg tactics:
sudden shock attacks against airfields, communications, military installations,
using fast mobile armor and infantry to follow up on the first wave of bomber
and fighter aircraft. Poland was overrun in less than one month, Denmark and
Norway in two months, Holland, Belgium, Luxemburg and France in six weeks.
After the fall of France in June 1940 only Great Britain stood firm.

The Battle of Britain, in which the Royal Air Force prevented the Luftwaffe
from securing aerial control over the English Channel, was Hitler's first
setback, causing the planned invasion of the British Isles to be postponed.
Hitler turned to the Balkans and North Africa where his Italian allies had
suffered defeats, his armies rapidly overrunning Greece, Yugoslavia, the island
of Crete and driving the British from Cyrenaica.

The crucial decision of his career, the invasion of Soviet Russia on 22 June
1941, was rationalized by the idea that its destruction would prevent Great
Britain from continuing the war with any prospect of success. He was convinced
that once he kicked the door in, as he told Jodl (q.v.), "the whole rotten
edifice [of communist rule] will come tumbling down" and the campaign would be

over in six weeks. The war against Russia was to be an anti-Bolshivek crusade,
a war of annihilation in which the fate of European Jewry would finally be
sealed. At the end of January 1939 Hitler had prophesied that "if the
international financial Jewry within and outside Europe should succeed once
more in dragging the nations into a war, the result will be, not the
Bolshevization of the world and thereby the victory of Jewry, but the
annihilation of the Jewish race in Europe."

On 29 April 1945 he married his mistress Eva Braun and dictated his final
political testament, concluding with the same monotonous, obsessive fixation
that had guided his career from the beginning: "Above all I charge the leaders
of the nation and those under them to scrupulous observance of the laws of race
and to merciless opposition to the universal poisoner of all peoples,
international Jewry."

The following day Hitler committed suicide, shooting himself through the mouth
with a pistol. His body was carried into the garden of the Reich Chancellery by
aides, covered with petrol and burned along with that of Eva Braun. This final,
macabre act of self-destruction appropriately symbolized the career of a
political leader whose main legacy to Europe was the ruin of its civilization
and the senseless sacrifice of human life for the sake of power and his own
commitment to the bestial nonsense of National Socialist race mythology. With
his death nothing was left of the "Greater Germanic Reich," of the tyrannical
power structure and ideological system which had devastated Europe during the
twelve years of his totalitarian rule.

They are hard working. There is no such thing as easy money. Success takes
hard work and people who are willing to do it. They are honest. Those who are
successful long-term are the honest ones. Dishonest people may get the first
sale, but honest people will get all the rest! They persevere. How many
success stories will go untold because they never happened? And all because
someone quit. Successful people outlast everybody else. They are friendly.
Have you noticed that most successful people are friendly and people oriented?
This endears them to others and enables them to lead others to accomplish the
task. They are lifelong learners. Successful people are people who stretch
themselves and grow continually, learning from all areas of life, including
from their mistakes. They over-deliver. The old statement of under-promise and
over-deliver became famous because it made a lot of people successful,
including the richest man in the world - Bill Gates They seek solutions in the
face of problems. Problems are opportunities to do the impossible, not just

WORDS ARE JUST WORDS!!

YOU'VE PROBABLY HEARD it said that a picture is worth a thousand words.
Well, a word may just be worth a thousand pictures, or MORE!! SINCE NLP(tm) IS
ABOUT how the brain works and language, it's been one of my hobbies, since I
was knee-high-to-a-grasshopper, to listen to various people and "how" they
express themselves. I've learned a lot since then and am still amazed at how
much there is to learn from the many rich resources out there. THERE ARE GURUS
ON TOP OF GURUS ( now there's a funny picture) in the area of marketing that
will tell you "Sell the Sizzle, not the Steak". Mmmmm, I gotta go and eat now,
ooops!! Sorry, I'll do that later. (It was the sizzle thing). They'll tell you
to use vivid examples, but they don't exactly tell you *how* to do "vivid".
It's just that some people don't really understand how language really works,
and the precise sequencing of words in sentences, syntax and all. FOR
STARTERS, to make something more "vivid", just to use that word, they must use
well-placed adjectives. Now, that in itself ought to be enough to understand,
but when they use voluptuous, colorful, and passionate adjectives, they'll
make their point more succinctly, if you see what I mean. And adjectives can
be overdone (like steak) and then they'll be tough to swallow (argh). Think of
adjectives as spices: too much and the dish is ruined, well, not actually the
dish, but the food that's on the dish. Use them sparingly and in just the
right amounts to bring out the full flavor in your messages!! THERE ARE MANY
DIFFERENT WORDS here to describe a very simple point. Some of the words make
up idioms, generalized phrases that become attached to a specific meaning.
Some words will have you searching through your brain for which meanings they
could apply to and others that won't hunt so far or deep into those neuro-
synaptic pathways. So, if you don't want to be crying over the water under the
bridge, then learn how structuring language is useful for constructingnew,
deep reaching ideas. The ideas are where it all starts. The words are already
inside your head, it's just a matter of getting them into the right sequence
(for whatever it is you want to accomplish) and then out of your busy brain
and out your mouth. Examples: puppies vs playful puppies, or playful and cute
puppies profit vs. enormous profit savings vs. real savings or incredible
savings IT'S ALSO A GOOD and somewhat obvious (for those who have some NLP(tm)
experience), idea to use the representational system predicates (visual,
auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory and gustatory) in your communicating. The
sweet smell of success is very appealing to people, not to mention the precise
attention you'll pay to their accounts if you're their accountant. COMING UP
with just that right combination of adjectives that will enhance those ever
essential nouns will make all the difference in the minds of your already
cherished customers, and even potential customers. SUBTLETY IS such a
wonderful way to make dramatic difference each and every day. NOW SOMEONE will
probably think of asking, "Well, John, when would I use this?" and I'll
say, "When do you use words structured into sentences? That's when!!" YOU CAN
FIND lot of information about the structure of language in the oldies, but
best of the goodies of books, The Structure of Magic I and II, not to mention
the numerous resources in the bibliographies. REMEMBER: WORDS ARE JUST WORDS
SO DO JUSTICE TO YOUR WORDS!!

Naukowcy ze szpitala uniwersyteckiego w Lund w Szwecji pod kierunkiem dr.
Andreasa Arvidssona odkryli, ze po przebytym udarze mozgu komorki nerwowe
zaczynaja sie dzielic, by zrekompensowac zniszczenie tkanki mozgowej.

Udar mozgu polega na naglym zniszczeniu tkanki nerwowej w danym miejscu mozgu
pod wplywem zmian naczyniowych, np. krwotoku, zatoru lub zakrzepu naczyn
krwionosnych mozgu. Niedotlenione komorki nerwowe bardzo szybko obumieraja.
Nastepstwem udaru moze byc utrata mowy, utrata widzenia, czucia w dolnej
polowie ciala lub po jednej stronie twarzy, porazenie konczyn.
Badania prowadzone na szczurzym modelu wykazaly jednak, ze zniszczona w wyniku
udaru tkanka nerwowa zostaje czesciowo zastapiona przez zdrowe komorki
nerwowe. Okazalo sie, ze nowe komorki nerwowe powstaja w zupelnie innym
miejscu mozgu, w tzw. obszarze podkomorowym, i migruja do miejsca uszkodzenia,
gdzie nabieraja cech neuronow, ktore ulegly zniszczeniu.
Niestety, regeneracji ulega tylko 0,2 proc. zniszczonej tkanki, co zupelnie
nie wystarcza, by chory mogl chocby w niewielkim stopniu odzyskac utracona
sprawnosc.
Wedlug autorow, wyniki ich badan dowodza jednak, ze istnieje mozliwosc
stymulowania naturalnej zdolnosci mozgu do regeneracji. Dzieki temu mozliwe
bedzie przynajmniej czesciowe odzyskanie sprawnosci przez ludzi po udarach.

Profesor filozofii stanął przed swymi studentami i położył przed sobą kilka
przedmiotów. Kiedy zaczęły się zajęcia, wziął spory słoik po majonezie i
wypełnił go po brzeg dużymi kamieniami. Potem zapytał studentów, czy ich
zdaniem slój
jest pełny, oni zaś potwierdzili. Wtedy profesor wziął pudełko żwiru, wsypał
do słoika i lekko potrząsnął.
Żwir oczywiście stoczył się w wolna przestrzeń miedzy kamieniami. Profesor
ponownie zapytał studentów, czy słoik jest pełny, a oni ze śmiechem
przytaknęli. Profesor wziął pudełko piasku i wsypał go, potrząsając słojem. W
ten
sposób piasek wypełnił pozostałą jeszcze wolna przestrzeń.
Profesor powiedział: "Chciałbym, byście wiedzieli, ze ten słój jest jak
Wasze życie. Kamienie - to ważne rzeczy w życiu: Wasza rodzina, Wasz partner,
Wasze dzieci, Wasze zdrowie. Gdyby nie było wszystkiego innego,
Wasze życie i tak byłoby wypełnione. Żwir - to inne, mniej ważne rzeczy:
Wasza praca, Wasze mieszkanie, Wasz dom albo Wasze auto. Piasek symbolizuje
całkiem drobne rzeczy w życiu. Jeżeli najpierw napełnicie słój piaskiem, nie
będzie już miejsca na żwir, a tym bardziej na kamienie. Tak jest tez w życiu:
Jeśli poświęcicie cala Wasza energie na drobne rzeczy, nie będziecie jej mieli
na rzeczy istotne. Dlatego dbajcie o rzeczy istotne -

Zostanie Wam jeszcze dość czasu na prace, dom, zabawę itd.
Zważajcie przede wszystkim na duże kamienie - one są tym, co się naprawdę

Po zajęciach jeden ze studentów wziął słój, wypełniony po brzeg kamieniami,
żwirem
i piaskiem. Nawet sam profesor zgodził się, ze słój jest pełny. Student bez
problemu wlał do słoja butelkę piwa. Piwo wypełniło resztę przestrzeni -
teraz słój był naprawdę pełen.

Morał z tej historii - nieważne, jak bardzo jest wypełnione Wasze życie,
zawsze jest jeszcze miejsce na jedno piwo...

University Student Elections
Nablus' Al-Najah University: The Breeding Ground of Suicide Bombers
Al-Najah University in Nablus is not a typical academic institution. Its
students set the university's unique tone. The vast majority of the students
support Palestinian terrorist organizations and favor uncompromising armed
struggle against Israel, including suicide attacks.

The Al-Najah student council has traditionally been controlled by the Hamas
movement, which has been labeled by Israel, the United States and the European
Union as a terrorist organization.

The following table shows the results of the last student council elections,
held in 2001:



Hamas and Islamic Jihad's triumph in the elections marks a strengthening of
their political power at Al-Najah University, increasing their representation
by 14%, at the expense of Fatah. This trend reflects the increasing strength
of extremist Islamic movements among the Palestinian population.

Hamas has taken advantage of its traditional control over the student council
to transform the university campus into a base for recruiting, directing,
indoctrinating and operating terror cells. Hamas operations at Al-Najah are
characterized by:

Preaching in favor of suicide attacks against Israel - The Hamas-led student
council runs a systematic propaganda campaign in favor of Jihad (holy war
against infidels) among the university's students. The aim is to have the
message of Jihad spread throughout the broader Palestinian population. The
campaign praises armed struggle against Israel and suicide attacks.

The student council frequently organizes rallies and conventions on the
university campus, in which suicide attacks are praised as the highest form of
Jihad. The conventions usually feature a telephone address by a Hamas or
Islamic Jihad leader. On 13 November 2001, Abdallah Shalah, the leader of
Islamic Jihad, addressed the students via telephone, cajoling them: "Youth of
Palestine � Yesterday's student council elections were a vote in favor of the
Intifada, a vote in favor of the Jihad and the struggle, a vote in favor of
the blood of the fallen heroes, ... a vote in favor of the heroic suicide
bombers of the Iz Adin al-Qassam battalions and the Jerusalem squads. This is
the righteous choice; this is the true referendum � a test the students of Al-
Najah passed with flying colors. They proved their high level of awareness and
faith, and proved the depth of their connection to Islam, to Palestine and to
Jihad."

Encouraging murder of Israelis - Al-Najah University serves Palestinian terror
organizations as a stage for promoting their beliefs regarding the armed
struggle. Rallies by Palestinian terror organizations on the campus, which
have attracted media coverage, have shown operatives armed with various types
of weapons, including anti-tank missile launchers, marching and shouting
slogans praising the armed struggle. A variety of "plays" demonstrate to the
students how to murder Israelis and blow up Israeli passenger buses. In
addition, the Hamas held an exhibition on the campus in 2001, proudly re-
creating suicide attacks carried out by Hamas operatives earlier that year.
The entrance to the exhibition was designed to resemble the Sbarro restaurant
in Jerusalem, scene of a suicide attack carried out in August 2001 by Iz Adin
al-Masri, a Hamas operative from Jenin.

Recruitment of activists to the Hamas terrorist wing - Al-Najah University
serves as a recruitment center for the various Palestinian terror
organizations, but first and foremost for the Hamas. The Hamas student council
invests great effort and funds in building a support system for new students.
Every student receives a letter offering academic guidance counseling and
assistance in obtaining financial aid. Combined with regular student meetings,
this strengthens the students' link and commitment to Hamas and creating a
natural transition to their becoming active members in the terrorist wing. The
Hamas terror infrastructure in Nablus and its environs was formed and
developed at Al-Najah University. Many of Hamas' leaders in Nablus, including
leaders of the Iz Adin al-Qassam terrorist wing, began their involvement in
the movement while students or professors at the university. The Hamas terror
infrastructure that sprouted at Al-Najah was behind suicide attacks in
Jerusalem in July and September 1997.

The more notorious Hamas terrorists who attended Al-Najah University include:

- Kays Adwan - Former head of the student council nominated by Hamas. Was head
of the Hamas terrorist wing in northern Samaria. Considered to be
the "engineer" who prepared suicide bombers and equipped them with explosive
belts. Responsible for coordinating many suicide attacks (Jerusalem, Haifa,
Nahariya and elsewhere). Involved in manufacturing weapons, explosives and
Kassam rockets.

- Ali Hadairy - Attended the engineering faculty. Among the senior operatives
of the Hamas terrorist wing in Nablus and Tul-Karem.

- Taher Jarara - Attended the science faculty. Succeeded Mahmud Abu-Hanud as
head of the Hamas terrorist group in Nablus after Abu-Hanud was killed by
Israel.

- Yusuf Surkaji - Masters degree graduate of Al-Najah. Among the senior

Three Arabs held in Jerusalem cafe poisoning plot

Police have arrested three Jerusalem Arabs with links to Hamas who allegedly
planned to carry out a mass poisoning of patrons of Cafe Rimon, just off the
capital's Rehov Ben-Yehuda pedestrian mall.

It was the second time in as many weeks that the alleged direct involvement of
Jerusalem Arabs in acts of terrorism has been made public.

The three suspects, who were arrested three weeks ago based on intelligence
information provided by the Shin Bet, have confessed, police said.

One of the three, Othman Kiania, 22, from the Silwan neighborhood, worked as a
chef at the restaurant for the last three years. According to police, he had
planned to lace pitchers of drinks with toxic quantities of a muscle relaxant.

The two others were identified as ringleader Sufian Abdo, 23, of Jebl Mukaber,
who planned to provide Kiania with the drug, and Mussa Nasser, 22, of Ras el-
Amud, who worked with Abdo. They were indicted yesterday afternoon in
Jerusalem District Court on charges of belonging to a terror organization and
supporting the enemy during wartime.

Kiania, who was the last of the three to be arrested, is expected to be
charged later in the week.

A gag order which had been in place was lifted yesterday.

According to the indictment, Abdo had contacted various members of Hamas via e-
mail early this year, expressing his willingness to take part in terrorist
activities. For the next eight months, he and Nasser kept in contact with
Hamas officials, by providing them with the name of an Egyptian engineer who
could help them develop Kassem rockets and raise funds for Hamas.

In July, Abdo told them he wanted to carry out a suicide bombing to avenge the
death of Salah Shehadeh. They suggested he carry out a mass poisoning at a
large Jerusalem cafe, and he agreed.

He then tuned to Kiania, whom he knew from working together part time at a
laundromat at the Hebrew University. Abdo then went to a pharmacy and
purchased Delaxin tablets, assuming a large dose would cause the diners to
have heart attacks after they left the cafe.

To ensure the potency of the tablets, Kiania suggested that they try them out
on stray cats. However, before they could do so, they were arrested.

Nasser proposed that he attack a group of right-wingers who were holding a
march in the Old City on August 8, but never received permission from Hamas.

"There is no doubt the terrorist organizations, which are encountering
difficulty in getting suicide bombers into Israel, are making a supreme effort
as a last resort to use Arabs who already live and work in the country,"
Jerusalem Mayor Ehud Olmert told The Jerusalem Post yesterday.

"It is true that I had hoped that Jerusalem residents would not become
involved in terrorist activities, and I am deeply disappointed that they
have," he said. "But it is hard to say that it is beyond comprehension, if you
take into account the reality we live in." Asked if he envisioned further
attacks by Jerusalem Arabs, Olmert, who last night paid a solidarity visit to
the cafe, said that he has "no illusions."

Ronen Rimon, the owner of the cafe, said he had no warning that his chef was
planning on poisoning his clientele.

"We were rather alert over the last two years and we tried to close all
possible doors [to terror], but we never considered this way," he said. "No
one ever told us that this worker was dangerous."
Rimon pointed out that Kiania, who is married and the father of a child, was
a "very good worker" and that he had met with him last week to discuss an
increase in his salary.

"I have just had the shock of my life," said co-owner Yosef Rimon.

Some 220,000 Arabs live in Jerusalem, most of whom have kept a low profile
since the current conflict erupted nearly two years ago, focusing instead on
supporting their families.

While all Jerusalem Arabs may apply for citizenship, only about 10,000 are
citizens. The rest have chosen to retain the Jordanian passports they used
before 1967, but carry permanent resident ID cards. They receive social
benefits, such as national insurance and health coverage, but cannot
participate in national elections.

Han avslöjar judehatets rötter
Om några veckor får Magnus Zetterholm Cliopriset. Han är filosofie doktor i
Nya testamentets exegetik - inte teologie. Det är han nöjd med. Hans
kontroversiella avhandling om kristendomens avskiljande från det judiska
stamträdet är religionsvetenskap - inte teologi.

Man ska tänka New York, säger Magnus Zetterholm när jag ber honom om en
religiös lägesrapport från Antiokia för bortåt två tusen år sedan
- Tänk dig New York, då kommer man nära. Den religiösa mångfalden var stor,
antalet sekter många. Så länge man iakttog de grundläggande reglerna var den
religiösa toleransen mycket stor. Om man kom till exempel från Kreta till
Antiokia och hade med sig några lokala gudar, gick man bara till borgmästaren
och bad om lov: Är det okej att vi sätter upp de här kisarna på väggen och
vördar dem? Absolut, bara ni också tillber de grekisk-romerska gudarna - och
kejsaren förstås - visst, inga problem.

Det är i stort sett bara en viljeakts avstånd mellan det rätt massiva
lunchsorlet på klassiska Grand i Lund och myllret i Antiokia den gången. Med
en bra guide vid sin sida går det att forcera en ansenlig damklubbs ljudstarka
gemenskap kring klirrande glas och ta sig in i världsstadens pulserande liv;
Magnus Zetterholm har så att säga varit där.
Och tala om tätort; trängseln där mer än 300 000, kanske uppått 400 000 -
syrier, egyptier, lyder, perser, judar, fenicier, kretensare, atenare - samsas
på några kvadratkilometer. Dofterna. Ljuden av allehanda sysslor. Köpmän,
bönder, hantverkare, fiskare, tvätterskor, ämbetsmän, legionärer, hövitsmän...
Ropen och skriken kring handel och vandel. Surret av språk - grekiska, latin,
assyriska, arameiska, pars
Där har vi en glimt av den verklighet ur vilken kristendomen inte bara lösgör
sig som en egen religion utan som en icke-judisk religion. Vad var det som
hände efter det första århundradets koherens; varför kom det till en
separation mellan judendom och kristendom?
Det är för sin doktorsavhandling om detta dramatiska och för all framtid
betydelsefulla och ödesmättade historiska skeende Magnus Zetterholm nu får
Cliopriset. (Synagogue and Separation ges ut av Routledge, London. i mars
2003.) Som få tillförne gör han begripligt - och i högsta grad tänkbart -
mycket i den komplicerade och ganska snabba process som redan i början av det
andra århundradet ändade i att företrädare för kyrkan inte bara såg
kristendomen som oförenlig med judendom utan också blev antijudisk.

- Den här transformationen är ett av de mest egendomliga fenomenen i
västerlandets historia, konstaterar Magnus Zetterholm. Det är här vi hittar
ursprunget till den kristna antisemitismen. Utan den antijudiska tradition som
utvecklades så tidigt och så pass abrupt - man ska komma ihåg att det första
århundradets kristendom var en del av judendomen - hade aldrig det ideologiska
klimat kunnat uppstå mot 1800-talets slut som ledde till Förintelsen.
Medan perspektivet på den tidiga kristendomen brukar vara teologiskt har
Magnus Zetterholm i sin forskning utgått från uttalat samhällsvetenskapliga
frågeställningar; sociologiska och ideologiska aspekter har varit väsentliga
inom den tolkningsram han upprättade. Paulus spelar en av huvudrollerna i
dramat, den apostel som judendomen ser som en förrädare, han som bryter med
det gamla genom att befria kristendomen från dess
judiska arv.
- Men tänk om Paulus brev bara är riktade till hedningarna?! Att vara kristen
upphäver den judiska lagen, skriver han - han tycks ha ägnat mycket tid och
kraft åt att förhindra folk att lägga sig till med judiska seder eller rent av
bli judar. Men om han nu menade att detta bara gällde hedningarna, de
hednakristna, inte de judekristna!?

Magnus Zetterholm minns känslan av intellektuell befrielse när han började
ställa de frågor han ville för att pröva alla som helst plausibla tolkningar.
I övermod hände det att han tänkte: Paulus var kanske tokig - eller skitfull
när han skrev det där...!
- Så får man enligt vedertagen praxis inte tänka. Paulus kan inte vara tokig -
han är apostel. Bibeln är ju sann! Exegeter har oftast svårt att se den som en
rak vetenskaplig text som måste prövas hermeneutiskt. Den kristna
intellektuella traditionen har inte gynnat en mångfald av tolkningar medan
judiska exegeter tror att alla tänkbara tolkningar redan från början är
nedlagda i texten av Gud. Jag har
också, mycket riktigt, fått positiva reaktioner på avhandlingen från judiskt
håll. För mig har det varit av yttersta vikt att inte blanda ihop konfession
och vetenskap. Avhandlingen måste vara kommunicerbar i hela det vetenskapliga
samhället.

Magnus Zetterholms teori går i korthet ut på omständigheter som har med det
judiska upproret mot Rom år 66-70 att göra. Judendomen hade som monoteistisk
religion haft privilegiet att undantas från plikten att delta i den officiella
kulten eller av anbefalld dyrkan av kejsaren. I mitten av det första
århundradet hade de hednakristna, det vill säga icke-judar som trodde att
Jesus var Messias, kunnat leva i synagogans skydd genom att utge sig för att
vara judar.
- Samtidigt legitimerade ideologin deras plats i rörelsen som icke-judar.
Upproret mot Rom ökade de antijudiska strömningarna. Judar förföljdes och
dödades, ekonomiska repressalier beordrades. I det läget, i politisk
turbulens, hamnade de hednakristna i skarpa konflikter; de kunde inte
återvända till sina
gamla liv, som hednakristna hade de varit illojala mot gudarna och tillika
haft samröre med fienden: judarna. För att undkomma förföljelse måste nu den
hednakristna rörelsen separera från judendomen. En mängd socio-politiska
moment finns i bilden när de kristna strävar efter att bli en egen tillåten
icke-judisk religion - vilket skulle dröja ytterligare några århundraden.

Man skulle kunna säga, även om han själv inte uttrycker det så, att Magnus
Zetterholms avhandling avtecknar sig mot det drama han på ett personligt plan
genomlevt. En livskris någon gång i 90-talets mitt inledde en process som
kulminerade i att han personligen tog avstånd från kristendomen. Han kommer
från ett sekulariserat tjänstemannahem men blev kristen och gick in i
Missionsförbundet i 20-årsåldern.
- Som kristen förstod jag inte kristendomen, jag förstod aldrig hur det
dogmatiska systemet hängde ihop. Men som agnostiker förstår jag den tidiga
kristendomen. Om jag saknar tron? Nej. Visst finns det möjligheter att
inkorporera det
vetenskapliga med konfession, det går att få ihop det och jag har stor respekt
för dem som lyckas. Jag gör det inte.
Han berättar om sina grundskoleår som en lyckosam tid utan flit och plugg. När
han kom till gymnasiet visste han inte hur man gjorde när man studerade, han
blev vilsen "och gjorde inte flaska".

- Jag fick en lidnersk knäpp i 18-årsåldern efter att ha hört en otrolig
gitarrist spela. Tio år försent, åtminstone rent motoriskt, började jag
studera gitarr vid Malmö musikhögskola för Per-Olof Johnson, en fantastisk
professor. Men jag blev förbannat trött på det subjektiva.
- Jag minns en gång när jag spelade en fuga av Bach och gjorde den i två olika
versioner... så kan man inte göra, sa Per-Olof. Men jag hade ju just gjort
det! Det var en hermeneutisk iaktagelse av vikt jag gjorde där. Jo! Man

På Judiska Museets utställning i Stockholm,"Andy Warhol – Ten Portraits of Jews
of the Twentieth Century", visades i höstas ett porträtt av bröderna Marx. Det
är det enda i serien där en grupp människor avbildas tillsammans. Kafka och
Buber, Freud och Bernhardt står för sig själva. En rad judiska ansikten med
bakomliggande historier. Välkända öden. Men så har vi de tre komiska bröderna.
På Warhols porträtt dessutom i tredubbel uppsättning.

Kafka och Freud är otvetydiga subjekt, singulära enheter i en västerländsk
modernitet. Bland bröderna däremot råder splittring. Här ställs frågan om
porträttet på sin spets. För vilken Harpo är den "riktige"? Vilka är kopior? Är
alla kopior av en kopia? Det moderna meningsskapande subjektet tycks här ha
ersatts av ett gränslöst varande, ett subjekt i förvandling. De tycks
förkroppsliga postmodernismens idé om subjektets död.

Marx film "Animal Crackers", där en gräslig oljemålning under ett av brödernas
upptåg byts ut mot en kopia. De byter och byter tillbaka, byter igen och till
slut vet varken de själva eller tittarna vilken som är originalet och vilken
som är kopian. Här aktualiseras frågan om postmodernismens avvisande av en fast
och odelbar identitet. Vilken tavla som är originalet spelar inte längre någon
roll: såväl originalet som kopian är produkter av språket. Vår identitet blir
vad vi gör den till.

Detta är varken nytt eller konstigt för den som vuxit upp i ett samhälle
präglat av modern psykologi och teorier om social konstruktion. En värld där
identiteten är utbytbar. Men det intressanta med bröderna Marx är att de var så
före sin tid. Deras mellankrigsfilmer förkroppsligar den teoretiska revolt som
skulle komma först ett knappt halvsekel senare. Filmerna pekar framåt, mot det
som är vårt nu. Mot det som Warhol var med och skapade – en konst och kultur
som ifrågasätter fixa positioner och Sanningar. Men hur ser då denna kultur ut?
Vilka är det som lever i den? Och hur skildrades den av bröderna Marx?

Under en föreläsning, "Fyra fräcka filosofer – bröderna Marx och det
postmoderna tillståndet", i samband med utställningen brottades
litteraturprofessorn Birgitta Holm med frågor som dessa. Genom en rad små
snuttar ur filmer från mellankrigstiden visade hon först hur bröderna
representerar splittring. De motarbetar varandra, går in i och ut ur valda
roller och konstruerar ett persongalleri fullt av förfalskade attribut. Är
Harpo verkligen stum? Är Grouchos mustasch äkta eller påklistrad? Vi börjar ana
sprickor. Identitet och mening dekonstrueras.

Men samtidigt, fortsätter Birgitta Holm, börjar de i ett visst läge
rekonstruera mening. Var och en tycks förutbestämd åt sin roll och tillsammans
bildar de en enhet. Warhol skulle aldrig kunna göra ett porträtt av bara Chico.
Det vore att avbilda en halv människa. Bara tillsammans får de mening.
Tillsammans återanknyter de till modernismens fasta identitet och kan hänga
intill Freud och Buber. Holm visar hur var och en utgör en del av det mänskliga
psyket. Harpo är fullständigt impulsstyrd, på gränsen till djurisk. Han är den
okontrollerbara libidon, det undermedvetna. Groucho representerar gruppen utåt.
Han är auktoritär och utåtriktad, kritiskt granskande och socialt begåvad.
Överjaget alltså. Chicos uppgift är att tolka och ge ord åt Harpo, verbalisera
det omedvetna.

Bröderna Marx pendlar mellan total splittring och helgjuten identitet. Ett
subjekt präglat av ambivalens. Hur kan man förklara denna dubbelhet?
Ambivalensen kanske bottnar i deras judiska identitet?

I det populärkulturella Amerika uppstod luckor för judiska
huvudrollsinnehavare, behov av deras utanförskap. Genom sin annorlundahet
erövrade de scenen. Blev en del av kollektivet, men ändå inte riktigt. Bröderna
Marx både tillhör det kollektiv Warhol porträtterat och sticker av från det.
Och de gör det så att vi, det lilla kollektivet på Judiska Museet, får oss ett
gott skratt i vintermörkret.

Abdul Tawab [Tawwab] el-Mulla Howeish [Abd al-Tawab Mullah al-Huwaysh] is
Deputy Prime Minister and Military Industrialization Minister. He heads the
Military Industrialization Commission. The Ministry of Industry and Military
Industrialisation (MIMI) was the primary agency responsible for Iraq's weapons
of mass destruction programs during the 1980s, and presumably it continues to
have primary responsibility in this field.

Abdul Tawab el-Mulla Howeish is prominently featured in many of the recent
photo-opportunity videos and photographs released by the Iraqi government. In
some photographs, he is the only person other than Saddam Hussein himself
whose face is identifiable in the photograph. In other photographs, he is
seated prominently away from the table at which the other attendees at the
meeting are seated. The singular visibility of this individual in official
Iraqi news media is not readily explained. The fact that he is probably closed
associated with Iraq's weapons of mass destruction programs, and that he is
prominently visible in Iraqi official news media, are probably not un-related.

Iraq Television reported on 4 May 2002 that Saddam Husseyn had chaired a
meeting where he listened to briefings by "joint working teams" on unspecified
scientific and technical questions. Iraqi TV broadcast the news in an
unscheduled summary. Saddam was reported to have commended the efforts of the
teams. He was quoted as saying: "My assessment of you is always 100 percent.
My assessment of you as people, commanders, and fighters, is also 100 percent.
Therefore we will defeat the enemy. This is our determination and confidence
in our battle. Rely on God." The meeting was also attended by Saddam's second
son, Qusay, described as member of the Iraq Command of the Arab Socialist
Baath Party and supervisor of the Republican Guard. Others attending were:
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Military Industrialization Abdul-Tawwab
Huwaish, Defense Minister Staff-General Sultan Hashim Ahmad, Minister of
Industry and Minerals Muyassar Raja Salah, and director of the Atomic Energy
Commission, Dr. Fadil al-Janabi. The commander of the air force, the commander
of air defense, the dean of the Military Engineering College, the vice
chairman of the Military Industrialization Organization, and "a large number
of fighters, researchers, and technicians in various specialities were also
there.

President Saddam Hussein on Wednesday August 28, 2002 met Deputy Prime
Minister, Minister of Military Industrialization Abdul Tawwab Al-Mulla
Howeish, Air Defence Commander Lieut. Gen. Mzahim Sa'b Al-Hasan and a group of
Military Industrialization researchers. At the outset of the audience, the
Military Industrialization Minister expressed "delectation" [a feeling of
extreme gratification aroused by something good or desired] to meet President
Saddam Hussein while Iraqis are going on their struggle to meet all needs of
steadfastness and capabilities to face evil aggressors. He affirmed Iraqis’
determination to thwart all enemies' plots and defend their country's
independence, dignity and sovereignty.
