Callan Method (in English) from Native Speaker

This was in response to a posting on another group site. I am an
American teacher with experience and I have been teaching the Callan
method for a few months now (see my posting below):

Hi,
I've gone thru the Callan training, but I refused to become a Callan teacher,
cuz I don't think it works. I may be wrong tho.

Primarily, I'd like to hear from people who were taught only by means of this
method and managed to get to the FC level and passed the exam, which,
according to Callan method advertizing is possible.

Secondly, there may be a reason for which this method in Poland grows into
popularity. Callan advertizing camapaign claims that they teach how to speak.
Many different schools put to much emphasis on grammar and on developing
receptive skills. In first stages people are too little encouraged to speak.
And Poles do need ecouragement. They must be forced to speak. They're not
gonna do it out of free will.
Unfortunately, modern methodology stresses the importance of enabling the
student to decide, to make their own choices. In Poland people are too modest
and shy to overcome this fear to speak in a different language, and this is
the cause of Callan's succes.
They make people repeat phrases, making them think it's speaking.
