Hi. Am looking for a couple of opinions of the expats from Scandinavia
working in Poland. How do you like the country? What was the most difficult
thing to get through with here? What would you advise to the ones who want to
come here, to work and live for a couple of years?

don't drink the water.
wear a condom and a fixed smile at all times.
bring soap, lots of shiny, glittery things to distribute to women you meet in
the streets, and lots of alcohol and things to smoke for the men.
the natives will be amused if you goosestep and scream German sounding words.
use a Russian phrase-book for shopping and for social contact.
pidgeon hunting is a popular city sport. I suggest that you bring with you from
Denmark an assortment of implements and weapons that will make you an effective
pidgeon hunter. when visiting native homes carry bundles of dead pidgeons to
present to the hostess.

no sane person brings vodka to Poland. Pidgeon shooting? Sounds like pre-
partition Poland. I know, I know... It was funny. Anyway, does the silence here
indicate the figures, you think?
I worked with Danes in London few years ago and I found them very nice, bit
shy, introvert... Not loud, in any case.

IT IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE FOR ME!!! To get know how the expats are doing in
POland, how they adapted (or not adapted) to Polish culture, habits, etc.

So, if you are an expat, working in Poland, could you please share your
opinions how oyu are doing here? What was the most difficult thing to deal with
in Poland, what was a nice surprise? Are you happy living in Poland?

it should have, but it failed. listen maku, "seriously". I was trying to convey
to you that your enquiry was misplaced. Poland is a few minutes away from
Denmark and you can learn all you need to know about its condition, customs,
from numerous sources here on the WWW or at your local library. otherwise the
people in Poland are kind of like the people in Denmark, or like people
anywhere. thinking that you need Danish ex-pats to give you insights into the
Polish condition is some kind of extreme racist crap.

the Danish ex-pats I have met roaming the world were people needing to escape
the stifling restrictions of Denmark, who were open to exploring and
interacting in the societies they were living in.

and now name me ten famous Danes (Hamlet and the Little Mermaid don't count,
and King Knut was mostly Polish anyway.)

Am not Danish... Actually, am Polish, and am looking for a couple of opinions
of the ones who are expats working in Poland. Why? For my very good friend
considers coming to PL to work for a couple of years, and am just curious how
other people of her culture react to Polish reality. As am Polish, I really
cannot be objective to Poland ;-) That's why the question was formulated. And
that's why I need the opinions of expats, NOT the knowledge about POland. I
have a decent opinion of Poland, as I used to live here for my entire 24
years ;-) Got that?

BTW, I guess you're wrong about the similarities between PL and DK - or any
other Western country. The people are more less the same - that's obvious. But
culture differs tremendously!!! Have been studying in Denmark for a while, and
I know that perfectly well...

So, my question concerns more the culture shocks the Scandinavians (or other
Western nations) came across here, in our beautiful country :-) And they were
numerous (shocks, I mean), to be frank.
