Book of Kohelet- 3, 1-9

04.11.02, 10:56
(1) To every [thing there is] a season, and a time to every purpose under the
heaven: (2) A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time
to pluck up [that which is] planted; (3) A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to break down, and a time to build up; (4) A time to weep, and a time
to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; (5) A time to cast away
stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time
to refrain from embracing; (6) A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to
keep, and a time to cast away; (7) A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time
to keep silence, and a time to speak; (8) A time to love, and a time to hate;
a time of war, and a time of peace. (9) What profit hath he that worketh in
that wherein he laboureth?

      John Donne,
      well done. Could you reveal a little bit more? About yourself/ves, too.

      So, Mr. Donne's Ghost, what's Kohelet's real name? Ghosts
      know things. No more Solomon stuff, please. I want the
      true name and occupation.

        Ecclesiastes, the prophet of Israel

          Is the Ghost confused? So was Donne. I mean the guy, not
          the Book. Was he Greek? What did he do for a living? No
          more kings, please. Those positions have been taken already.

      No man is an Iland, intire of it selfe; every man is a peece of the Continent,
      a part of the maine; if a Clod bee washed away by the Sea, Europe is the lesse,
      as well as if a Promontorie were, as well as if a Mannor of thy friends or of
      thine owne were; any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in
      Mankinde; And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls
      for thee.

        Wow! We are all impressed! Now, let me break this circle of mutual admiration.
        Put some effort into it, try to create something of your own, something
        original, something that would spark an enriching discussion. You see, all of
        us can go around the internet writing down things we consider "cool," and pray,
        heavens forbid, someone doesn't verify their authenticity and accuracy.

      Here, hear. W.Blake at your disposal. Shall we rhyme? Play mystic for me. In
      the best possible taste, of course. Now, I can talk nonsense too, so there!
