Tax law vs accounting law. There is no such thing as "prawo bilansowe", the
author is referring to the requirements of the entity's reporting framework, be
that the Ustawa o Rachunkowosci (Act on Accounting) or the IFRS.

Acha. Probujesz wyliczyc rezerwe na podatek odroczony?
We would talk about the difference between the book value (or carrying value)
and the tax value of (please note) _tangible_ fixed assets ("fixed assets"
to "majatek trwaly" a nie "srodki trwale")

It wouldn't. You need to talk to an accountant. Like me.

      De nada.

You are a dear:)) Thanks a lot.
The term "bilansowa" appears also in another context, i.e. "wycena i
amortyzacja bilansowa vs. wycena i amortyzacja podatkowa". What would be the
right translation- "accounting valuation and depreciation of tangible fixed
assets" vs. tax valuation and depreciation...'
or maybe "tax law-based valuation... and accounting law-based valuation"
These question must seem silly to an export like you but I have to help my
friend to translate an abstract of her master's thesis even though I am an
amateur when it comes to economics.

Probably from the context you would say "gross value and accumulated
depreciation of the TFAs as per the financial statements vis-a-vis their tax
          value and accumulated tax-allowable depreciation."

In the UK, we say "writing-down allowances" for "tax-allowable depreciation"
but it is best to use the latter, as otherwise people mightthink it worked the
same way as the UK system, but ther are significant differences.

          > or maybe "tax law-based valuation... and accounting law-based valuation"

The problem with that is that the accounting valuations may just as easily come
from the entity's internal accounting policies, and not from the Act on
Accounting. The Act requires the TFAs to be depreciated on an acceptable basis
over their expected useful lives, but it doesn't tell the Board of the Company
what that is - that is their subjective opinion in accountancy. As long as they
can get it past the auditors, who are not usually specialists in the branch and
have to trust the Board's nose on it anyway, although there are analytical ways
of checking it in the accounts of more mature companies.

Even if you were highly educated in economics, you would not be asking a silly
qusetion here. The treatment of fixed assets and their wearing out in financial
reporting and for corporate income tax, and the reconciliation of the
difference and its disclosure is a field that has engaged the brains of the
greatest accountants in the world, and they are not finished standard setting
in that area yet, you can be sure of it.
