A Japan Airlines jet made an emergency landing at Osaka Airport Monday after
it was struck by lightning that cracked a cockpit window.
The Mainichi Daily News reported none of the 214 passengers and crewmembers
on Flight 1720, en route from Fukuoka Airport to Tokyo's Haneda Airport, was
injured.
The JAL Boeing 777-300 was struck by lightning at approximately 12,000 feet,
causing a 24-inch crack on one of the cockpit's windows, officials said.
Passengers were transferred to another aircraft.
