DUBAI, Dec 8 (Reuters) - A joint venture of General Electric Co. (GE.N) and
United Technologies (UTX.N) unit Pratt & Whitney said on Monday they had won
a new order to supply engines for 21 Emirates airline A380 superjumbos in a
deal worth over $1.5 billion.

An official at Engine Alliance told Reuters that the venture will be
supplying the engines for all 43 of the A380s Emirates has ordered from
Airbus, as well as two A380s it plans to lease from AIG (AIG.N) unit ILSC.

Britain's Rolls-Royce (RR.L) is the only other manufacturer that supplies
engines for the A380, a 555-seat plane that will begin flying with airlines
from 2006.

Airbus has received orders from nine airlines for 121 superjumbos, each of
which is equipped with four engines.
