Ks. Zbigniew B. - były kapelan arcybiskupa gdańskiego Tadeusza Gocłowskiego,
do lata ub.r. szef wydawnictwa Stella Maris, proboszcz parafii św. Bernarda w

wyprowadzony do spółki z ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością - mówi
informator "Gazety", wierzyciel Stella Maris.

Dotarliśmy do aktu notarialnego, z którego wynika, że 10 maja 2002 r.
reprezentujący archidiecezję wikariusz generalny arcybiskupa metropolity
gdańskiego, administrator archidiecezji ksiądz Wiesław Lauer przekazał
Wydawnictwo Diecezji Gdańskiej Stella Maris - w formie darowizny - spółce z
ograniczoną odpowiedzialnością o nazwie... Wydawnictwo Archidiecezji
Gdańskiej Stella Maris. Sprawdziliśmy w Krajowym Rejestrze Sądowym - ta
spółka jest w całości własnością... parafii katolickiej pw. św. Bernarda w

Bernarda w Sopocie.

After authorities charged Christian Longo with murdering his wife and three
children, he told detectives that his faith taught him his family would have
      resurrected lives after death.
Robert Bryant killed his family and himself amid a series of troubles,
including the severing of long-held religious ties.
Edward Morris, a fugitive from charges that he killed his wife and children in
a Tillamook County forest, was an active church member and is thought to be
driving a van that displays evangelical Christian stickers.
All three men had or have ties to religious faiths that consider the Bible to
be the infallible word of God, the family to be sacred, and the husband to be a
      key provider.
Yet the Bible offers no justification for taking an innocent life, even if one
believes the dead go to a better place, scholars and ministers say.
"Such a reading is antithetical to what the Bible said. It's not our job to
murder people. It is God's job to decide who lives and who dies," said Amy-Jill
Levine, Carpenter Professor of New Testament Studies at Vanderbilt University.
Many Christians trace their belief in eternal life to Jesus' words in John
11:26, "whoever lives and believes in me will never die."
"If I die physically, I am in a better place because God has given to me
eternal life . . . but that is not for my control. I am not to take that into
my hands for anyone else or for myself," said the Rev. Bard Marshall of Bethel
      Baptist Church in McMinnville.
Bryant and Longo were Jehovah's Witnesses who were shunned by their
congregations. Jehovah's Witnesses are a Christian sect that differs in many
ways from traditional Christianity but shares the belief with most evangelical
Protestants that the Bible is the word of God.
Morris has been a member of St. Johns Wesleyan Church, part of an evangelical
Protestant denomination. His wife, Renee Morris, was an active volunteer in
church activities, while her husband was described by the pastor as having
a "support role" at the church.
Police say Morris may be driving the family's van, which displays a sticker for
Promise Keepers, a Christian men's movement that encourages men to claim
      spiritual leadership of their households.
Any kind of violence against one's family is the opposite of the Promise
Keepers credo, said Levine, who has studied the group.
"What Promise Keepers teach is for the man, as head of the household, to be
fully caring and loving and attentive to his wife, in the same way that Christ
is fully loving and caring and attentive to the church," she said.
Longo, who has pleaded not guilty to murder charges, told investigators Jan.
15 "when my family died that they would be chosen to be resurrected to a new
      life in the future."
Not all claims of religious motivation are genuine, said Gregg McCrary, a
consultant and former FBI criminal profiler.
"Sometimes what you find with psychopaths is they feign their religious
beliefs," McCrary said. "They pretend they're working for the greater good."
Rodney Stark, a University of Washington professor of sociology and comparative
religions, said searching for religious connections to apparently irrational
      acts is beside the point.
"We could just as well blame it on the fact that people can't pump their own
gas in Oregon," Stark said. "It doesn't make any sense." Steve Woodward of the
Oregonian staff contributed to this report.

      Governor leaves state in crisis

      01/04/03

Regarding "A promise kept" (Dec. 29), while the state of Oregon burns, "Dr. No"
fiddles in the great outdoors. A look at some other issues important to
      Oregonians:

Oregon has one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation, businesses are
leaving the state because of government regulation and high income-tax rates,
and the Public Employees Retirement System is bankrupting the state, paying
benefits that are completely out of line with private retirement plans.

Gov. John Kitzhaber's only solution is to take more of my and my fellow
      Oregonians' hard-earned paychecks.

Kitzhaber's liberal elite attitude that he knows best has left his beloved
state of Oregon in financial crisis.

The following describes Portland's 23 homicides in 2002 and the status of the
investigations. Police consider a case solved if they have made an arrest or
identified a suspect, regardless of whether there has been a conviction.

      1. Glenn Alva Wilcher Jr., 39. Stabbed three times in the back about 12:05 a.m.
Jan. 1 outside the Pier Park Apartments, in the 8600 block of North Columbia
Boulevard. Jeffrey Scott Reed, 19, another tenant who lived in a different
unit, was charged with murder. Reed told police he stabbed Wilcher with a
kitchen knife to help his brother, who was fighting with Wilcher. Reed pleaded
no contest to criminal negligent homicide. Sentencing scheduled Tuesday.

      2. Jack Harvey Jones, 65. Died from blows to his head. Found dead in his
apartment Jan. 22 in the 3700 block of Southeast Division Street, a unit above
a storefront. Friends became concerned when he didn't answer his phone or
knocks on his door in the apartment that he occupied for about 22 years. Jones,
who mostly lived alone, was a well-known figure in the neighborhood. UNSOLVED.

      3. Byron Clay Hammick Jr., 26. Shot by police early Feb. 22, at Motel 6, in the
3100 block of Southeast Powell Boulevard. Died of gunshot wounds to the head
and chest. Officers Stephen W. Mosier, 54, a 32-year Portland Police Bureau
veteran, and Christopher J. Gilbert, 38, a 41/2-year bureau member, confronted
Hammick after answering a security guard's report that a man who might be armed
was assaulting a child in a motel room and breaking windows. The officers
witnessed Hammick assaulting the child, ordered him to stop and then fired,
police said. A Multnomah County grand jury ruled the shooting justified.

      4. Rick James Ballantine, 42. Died from gunshots to chest, lower back and left
leg in a brazen, midday shooting in downtown Portland March 11. Robert Erick
Heinz, who turned 34 that day, was taken into custody the next night in
California, driving the getaway car, a 1996 Ford Taurus. Witnesses said the
gunman walked up to Ballantine on Southwest Broadway, just north of Pioneer
Courthouse Square, demanded his prescription anti-anxiety Xanax pills, fired
three shots and then stood over Ballantine, who had collapsed in the street,
and fired three more times. The gunman, witnesses said, calmly walked north on
Broadway, reloaded his handgun and tried to slip into a storefront before he
dashed into a car. Witnesses ran after the gunman and got the car's license
plate number. Ballantine and Heinz had both frequented the Hope methadone
clinic in Southeast Portland. Heinz, who told police he sold "pills" in
downtown Portland, has alerted the court he intends to rely on a mental
disease/defect or partial or diminished responsibility defense.

      5. Anthony Cleo Wilson, 47. Stabbed in the upper body in an apartment building
March 21 in the 330 block of Southwest Oak Street. Police found Wilson dead in
a fourth-floor hallway at the Oak Apartments shortly after 8:30 p.m. Police
arrested Joshua Robert Brown, 21, on accusations of murder. Police suspect the
      killing was drug-related.

      6. Anthony Utah-Zona Beck, 29. Shot by Portland police Officer Christopher
Kenagy on April 14 on the porch of a home in the 1900 block of Southeast 21st
Avenue. The homeowner, who had taken a walk with his two young daughters,
returned home to find blood smeared on the wall of his garage and on an
interior garage door. He heard a man inside yell, "Don't come in or I'll shoot
you." Beck stabbed himself several times before he was shot by police when he
came out the front door holding what looked like a gun in one hand and a knife
in the other. The gun turned out to be an air pistol. He died of gunshot wounds
to his chest and abdomen in the first Portland police shooting in which an
officer used a Colt AR-15 rifle. Beck's mother blamed her son's behavior on
      drugs.

      7. Vanessa Neubarth, 8. Stabbed multiple times with a kitchen knife in her
Southeast Lydia Court home April 24. Her- half brother, Aaron Van Neubarth, 33,
was indicted on aggravated murder, attempted aggravated murder and second-
degree assault charges. Police said Vanessa was stabbed when she tried to
intervene in a fight between her half brother and her father, Van Alvin
Neubarth. Police suspect the two men were fighting over car parts. The father,
who suffers from colon cancer and is undergoing chemotherapy, told family he
was too weak to stop Aaron Neubarth.

      8. Michael Forsman, 36. Died from crushing head injuries when he was run over
May 5 in the intersection of Southeast 56th Avenue and Foster Road. Police said
Forsman was assaulted after leaving a bar and was knocked into the street.
Police are investigating the death as a homicide and are working to identify
the man who beat Forsman and knocked him into the street. They arrested
motorist Richard A. Haggard, 35, on driving under the influence of intoxicants
but have not charged anyone with the killing. Haggard has pleaded not guilty to
      the DUII charge. UNSOLVED.

      9. Jerri Lee Williams, 35. Manually strangled May 25 in a Southeast Portland
home in the 7800 block of Southeast Flavel Street and then dumped in Kelley
Point Park. Lisa Marie Roberts, 37, her live-in lover, was indicted on a murder
charge, accused of killing her partner in an unusual female-on-female domestic
violence homicide. A park visitor discovered Williams' body near the park's
north parking lot on May 25 and waved down a police officer. Roberts, a full-
time member of the Oregon Army National Guard, had an on-again, off-again
relationship with Williams during the past two years and had become involved
      with another woman.

      10. Juliet S. Miller, 36. Found strangled with a ligature June 28 on a couch in
her apartment in the 9100 block of Southeast Crystal Springs Boulevard. Police
found a blue spark plug cable on the living room floor. Police had been to the
apartment around noon, called there by neighbors who reported Miller outside
damaging her car. She was home with her husband, and neither wanted to press
charges, police said. At 3:30 p.m., police called back, and Miller was dead.
Her husband, 34-year-old Thomas Christian Miller, was arrested several days
later on an accusation of murder. His mother testified at a bail hearing that
he admitted to her that he put his hands around his wife's neck after
she "flipped out" during an argument. In a police interview, Miller said that
there had been a lot of stress in his marriage over money and his lack of
employment and that his wife "had a short fuse."

      11. Erick "Juan" R. Suarez, 22. Died of a stab wound to the chest July 21.
Found lying on second base of a baseball diamond at Northgate Park in the 5700
block of North Fessenden Street. Police arrested three men in the gang-related
stabbing that appears to have occurred during a fight between two rival Latino
gangs. Police said Ignacio Perez-Sandoval, 20, of North Portland was among
three men who kicked Suarez repeatedly, struck him in the head with a golf club
and then stabbed him, according to a court affidavit. Suarez had arrived at the
park with three other men. The two groups of men argued, and then one of Perez-
Sandoval's friends swung a baseball bat at Suarez, witnesses told police.
Suarez deflected the blow with his own bat, a court affidavit said. Perez-
Sandoval's friends surrounded Suarez and were seen punching and kicking him.
Charged with murder are Perez-Sandoval, Juan Telles-Marin, 19, and Mere Colin-
      Soto, 24.

      12. Patricia Compton, 55. Shot in the head by her husband, Larry Compton, 57,
who then took his own life in their first-floor apartment of The Regency
Apartments North, at Northeast 31st Avenue and Killingsworth Street. Tenants
alerted the landlord about a strong odor, and a Capital Property Management
      Inc. work

Inc. worker found the couple dead in their bedroom about 11 a.m. Aug. 9. Larry
Compton shot his wife with a large-caliber handgun and then shot himself a few
hours later. Police think the two had been dead for at least five days. The two
were being evicted from their home and had medical ailments.

        13. Sharayiah Leanhart, 15-month-old girl. Arrived at Legacy Emanuel Hospital &
Health Center about 1 a.m. Aug. 11, dead from blunt force trauma to the
abdomen. Her mother's boyfriend, Moses Malone James, 21, was arrested six days
later and charged with felony murder, first-degree manslaughter and two counts
of first-degree criminal mistreatment. Police said James was taking care of the
girl that day in her home in the 2600 block of Northeast 7th Avenue when he
punched her in the stomach and failed to get her "necessary and adequate
        medical attention."

        14. John Pleasant Honaker, 31. Found dead along the west bank of the Willamette
River, just south of the Marquam Bridge, Aug. 30. A passer-by alerted an
employee at The Residence Inn early that morning. Honaker, a transient, died
from blunt force trauma to the head. Ten days earlier, Honaker reported to
police he was the victim of a bicycle theft. Born in New Mexico, Honaker had
ties to Alaska and family in Washington. UNSOLVED.

        15. Forrest Richard Paul, 26. Found shot Sept. 5 in his apartment. He was lying
face-down on the floor of his living room, his hands and feet bound with duct
tape. His landlord found him about 3:30 p.m. in his second-floor apartment of a
duplex in the 4900 block of Southeast 79th Avenue. The location had been the
subject of numerous drug-related complaints. UNSOLVED.

        16. Anthony D. Brown , 25. Shot about 3 a.m. Sept. 8 in the 200 block of
Northeast Russell Street. Six to eight shots were fired during a large party
that spilled onto the street outside the Doris Cafe. The 25-year-old was shot
in the middle of the crowd as police tried to clear the street. Brown, who was
released from prison in March and was studying at Portland Community College,
was a known Blood gang member, but police are uncertain why he was killed.
        UNSOLVED.

        17. Wallace Russ, 37. Stabbed in the abdomen and left arm Sept. 12 at West
Burnside Street and Northwest Sixth Avenue. The stabbing stemmed from an
argument over a woman. Eric Timothy Turner, 43, known as "ET," and Ray Shawn
Smith, 45, called "Red," are charged with murder. Turner is accused of
supplying Smith with the weapon, a folding buck knife. Witnesses said Russ
threatened Smith with a U-shaped bicycle lock. Turner rode by on a bicycle,
handed Smith a knife and told him, "Take care of your business," witnesses told
        police.

        18. William Henry Carlstrom Jr., 74. Killed Oct. 5 after a fight with his son
in his home in the 7700 block of Northeast Prescott Street. The son struck his
father with a two-by-four, and Carlstrom died from a combination of blunt force
trauma and a heart attack, police said. After bringing the case before a
Multnomah County grand jury, prosecutors dismissed a first-degree manslaughter
charge against the son, William Henry Carlstrom III, 50, concluding he acted in
        self-defense.

        19. Deaustin V. Duckett, 20. Found dead about 8:15 a.m. Nov. 15 in the front
passenger seat of a four-door Honda Accord, parked behind a duplex in the 500
block of Northeast Graham Street. Police say he was shot multiple times and may
have been killed at least two days earlier. No sign of robbery. Police suspect
the shooting may have been drug-related. UNSOLVED.

        20. Demingo Gonzales, 25. Shot multiple times Nov. 17 outside an after-hours
club at Northeast 22nd Avenue and Lombard Street. Gonzales, a -member of the
local Rolling 60 Crips gang, had been released from prison in March after
spending five years in prison for a 1996 assault. UNSOLVED.

        21. Asia Renee Bell, 24. Fatally shot on the front porch of her home in the
5700 block of North Mississippi Avenue about 10 p.m. Nov. 20. Her husband,
Tyrone James, who turned 26 on the day of the shooting, was shot in the head
and hip as someone walked up to the house and sprayed it with at least 17
bullets. A third person, Robert Milstone, was shot in the arm. Bell's four
young children were inside the house at the time of the shooting and were
unharmed. Police suspect the shooting was gang-related, but Bell was not the
        intended target. UNSOLVED.

        22. David Mendoza-Navarro, 24. Died from a single gunshot wound to the chest
Dec. 8. A resident found him lying in the middle of the street at Northeast
136th Avenue and Shaver Street about 4 a.m. Mendoza was a nursery worker who
had lived in the Portland area since at least December 1997, when he first
applied for an Oregon identification card. He lived with relatives in the 600
block of Northeast 162nd Avenue. Police were working to determine whether
Mendoza was shot where his body was found or whether he was dumped there.
Mendoza's pickup, which had been missing, was found a day or two later at a
Southeast Portland hotel in the 300 block of 99th Avenue. UNSOLVED.

        23. Marcus Allen Moultrie, 20. Shot Dec. 13 about 4:30 p.m. near Southeast
Reedway Street and 66th Avenue outside a vacant house that had been a source of
neighborhood complaints about drug activity. Police had a description of a
suspect vehicle, a 1980s maroon-and-silver Dodge Colt hatchback with body
damage and possibly a cracked windshield. Moultrie, had worked at Reed College
and YouthBuilders, a Southeast Portland alternative high school offering
vocational training and leadership development. UNSOLVED.

Crack-cocaine deal called reason behind first 2003 homicide

      01/07/03

      MAXINE BERNSTEIN

A crack-cocaine deal gone bad led to the city's first homicide of the year
      Saturday, court papers show.

Lonzall Tatum, 33, was arraigned in Multnomah County court Monday, accused of
murder in the death of Ronald "Buck" Spencer, 33. He was being held without
      bail.

Tatum called 9-1-1 about 3:30 p.m. Saturday, alerting dispatchers that he had
just shot someone in his apartment. Police found Spencer in the kitchen of
Tatum's apartment in the 1000 block of North Beech Street, dead of gunshot
      wounds.

Tatum told police that Spencer had "fronted" him several thousand dollars worth
of crack cocaine, and he had failed to repay it. Spencer was shot when he came
to Tatum's apartment to recover the debt, according to a probable-cause
      affidavit filed in court Monday.

Tatum's initial account to police was that he shot Spencer in self-defense
after Spencer "took a swing" at him, pushed him to the floor and advanced
toward him in a threatening manner. But evidence showed otherwise, police said.

Detectives John Brooks and John Weatherroy found seven spent 9 mm shell casings
in the apartment. Three were recovered near the apartment's front door, and
another two were found at the entry to the kitchen from the living room. They
found a large pool of blood on the kitchen floor, but no blood in the living
room area where Tatum contends he took his first shot at Spencer, the court
      affidavit says.

An autopsy found Spencer was shot in the front and back of his upper torso, and
two of the wounds were entry wounds to the back. That indicates Spencer "had
been turned away, or retreating, from the shooter when the shots were fired,"
wrote Mark McDonnell, a Multnomah County deputy district attorney, in the
      affidavit.

Tatum, when reinterviewed and confronted with the physical evidence, admitted
to detectives that he shot Spencer in anger.

The case will be presented to a Multnomah County grand jury within a week.

Co-plaintiffs sue archdiocese, allege sex abuse from priests

      01/08/03

      ASHBEL S. GREEN

A man and a woman have sued the Archdiocese of Portland, accusing priests of
molesting them when they were children.

The co-plaintiffs, using the initials S.E. and T.B., each are seeking $3.1
      million in compensatory damages.

The suit was filed Monday in Multnomah County Circuit Court.

S.E. says she was molested when she was 4 to 7 years old between 1969 and 1971
by a "Father Deis" at Sacred Heart Church.

Bud Bunce, a spokesman for the Portland Archdiocese, says the Rev. Nicholas
Deis was assigned from 1972 to 1973 to Sacred Heart Church in Newport. From
1969 to 1972, he was in Junction City.

      (...)

Millerze i Michniku. O jednym moge cie zapewnic, jezeli u Rydzyka by byly
chodzby najmniejsze nieprawidlowosci to by juz dawno siedzial a Radio Maryja i
Nasz Dziennik by byly juz dawno zamkniete. Prokuratura to organ typowo
polityczny, ktorej szefem jest Minister Sprawiedliwosci (czytaj SLD). Gdyby

(a teraz tez pewnie o widzow) probuje sie wszelkimi sposobami "zgasic" ten ruch
        Wyborczych) i im pokrewnych.

Czyżby ? Kilka lat temu była słynna sprawa gdy
          młody człowiek zabił redompteryste mieszkającego
w Toruniu w koszarach Rydzyka i obsługującego RM.
Chłopiec był szantażowany przez zabitego zakonnika.
To też było pedofilstwo. Nie można było chłopca
skazać na więzienie, no to zamknięto dzieciaka
          w zakładzie psychiatrycznym. Oczywiście tutaj
          też należało by ścigać prokuratorów.
