How was Poland in 70s and 80s

So you'll be pleased to know that most of these places haven't actually
changed, although they have painted the dinosaurs in Chorzów zoo and presumably
the woman in Świnoujście doesn't look so good in a bikini any more.

I used to live in Poland in the 70s and early 80s. I haven't been in most of the
places shown on the postcards except for Warsaw and Mielno.. not to mention that
I was never attracted to Slask. So I will discuss places that I knew before and
after.
I remember visiting for the first time my Trojmiasto (Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia)
with my husband (not Polish). I was so ashamed when we landed at the old airport
Rebiechowo in Gdansk. As a man of high class and culture he didn't say a word of
criticism. But I was burning inside. The next visit and a big surprise: a new
airport. This time he expressed his positive disbelief. In Trojmiasto changes
are so humongous that sometimes I have difficulties to recognize certain places.
Sopot looks like a new city. Renovations in Gdynia and Gdansk are enourmos.
There is nothing left on Swietojanska street in Gdynia what reminds me of 70s.
The same goes for Warsaw in recent years.. Even small Mielno where I used to
spend my every vacation in my youth is not recognizable to me any more.

As for the woman in a bikini I agree that she doesn't look the same right now.
I was on a cover page of a students' itd magazine in the 70s. Coincidentally in
bikini and on the Baltic beach. I have no illusions that photo reporters would
be interested in my person nowadays.
My conclusion is that the cities in present Poland change in the opposite way to
the women. Sadly not for the benefit of the latter.

not a patch on the old buildings... though i do like the AGORA building.
and the Biurowiec Rodan is interesting, reminiscent in some way of my old
uni campus... and the Osiedle Eko-Park is actually great, better than
anything i've seen, anywhere else really... and the Netherlands' Embassy's
kinda cool too...
