It is interesting to note that in the scheme attached to the article Lithuania
and Latvia are actually mixed up, as Vilnius but not Riga have closed 17
positions. This shows not only the level of "Wyborcza" journalists, but the
general attitude of Poland, which still hold myths that Baltic countries are
lagging behing on the path of reforms, on adapting new values.
I think that the decisiveness/political will, dynamism and staff efficiency of
countries like Estonia,Lithuania and maybe also Slovakia will help these
countries benefit from reforms caused by need to transform their laws and
economies for new era. Whereas Poland... well well... the "first wave"
and "second wave" of enlargement are already history.

I beg your pardon, Mr. Rytas (from the name of Forum redactors, if they allow)
Of course, they really have done a slight mistake during translation of the
scheme (the transposition, you have mentioned).
But in the text of article they used proper figures.
We are very proud of the Baltic countries progress toward the way to EU
and in general on the path of reforms.
But we, people of Poland, are not - in general - so sure about benefits from
      OUR unconditional entry into EU.
Your country is far away from Germany and it is not so in the case of Poland.
We really afraid that Germans get our lands and we will not be able to do
anything against this, after accession. That is why we need at least 18 years
for preparing our economy to compete with theirs at this particular field.
The pressure of public opinion in our country is now so hard, that our
negotiators are forced to take this into account quite seriously.
If they do not, we rather don't agree to get into EU at the "first wave".
For us it is not any form of sport competition, now.
God bless you and your country on this way, but we will - most probably - wait
      few years more.

Bravo Lithuania. in the arena of agreeing to every EU demand, you are indeed the
leaders. But Poland you see, is not so ready yet to get on our knees and accept
like good children everything EU demands of us.
