Słoniowa arka Noego - wielka operacja przenosze...

26.08.05, 17:17
W latach 80.
dziesiątki tysięcy słoni padło ofiarą kłusowników" - dziesiatki tysiecy? Tzn.
ile? Dwadziescia tysiecy?

u licha ,transportują 400 słoni za 3 200 000 $. Czyli kazdy słoń ma bilet za
8 000 $. Jeszcze fajniej wychodzi koszt za kilometr takiej podróży -to prawie
23$ za kilometr. To do takiego Radomia słoń pojechałby za 2300$ ,czyli 7500 zł.
I to w biednym afrykańskim kraju!! Nie mówię oczywiście o Radomiu

In as much as I am against the idea of transporting elephants from my beloved
country... I am shocked by the inacuracy of this article as well as the shallow-
mindess of the commments made here of the 'cost of an elephant' calculated in
        Dollars.

first of all, African Animals, Elephants, lions, Zebras are not only a heritage
of the African people, but of mankind, thus, we cannot hold captive to an
inheritance that goes way beyond the borders of Africa... having said that, to
        some facts...

There are only 175 animals proposed to be transported to Thailand... Per
savannah experts, this won't have a shread of effect to the ecosystem of Tsavo
or the Savanna... hell, the Animals that are killed every year under the 'game
shooting' are well over 10,000 and still the ecosystem remains intact, this is
a renewable resource... Kenya offers this license to hunt for fun for about
17,000USD... renewable every year... for those who can afford...

Next fact, Thailand's tropical climate is very close to Kenya's, unlike what I
see in Zoos in Poland where you place African animals under 0 degrees in
Winters!!! You should give up all those Tropical Animals back to Africa... and
coming to think of it... where the heavens did you get them from... I wouldn't
be surprised to have come from Kenya....

Thirdly, Kenya is building economic bridges with Asia and these are some of
the 'gifts' that our 2 leaders exchange for courtesy's sake... and if you have
a bone on that... consider this... Kenya has transported more than 10,000
African Elephants, countless zebras and other exotic animals to the US, UK and
other countries... why is it, that this time, the political card is being
played? Might this be a disgruntled ripple of reaction of the West, seeing
Kenya and Africa moving east for better economic deals?

And last but not least, this is an economic booster, but not as my proponents
put it in this thread... Has it occurred to you that this may actually increase
revenues? Thais who see these animals in the zoo may actually want to come see
them in the wild in Kenya. It works like free advertisement or free product
        samples that companies hand out.

Seriously wildlife is a resource that Kenya has and we should be able to export
it so long as it does not violate our laws or international treaties that we
signed and apparently this deal is clean on both fronts. I'm all for expanded
trade and the animals will reproduce themselves they are a renewable resource.

        Pozdrawiam
