Israir leases two A310 Airbuses to replace Boeing 757s routes to Europe

The American aircraft manufacturer Boeing's monopoly in supplying planes to
Israel has come to an end. Israir Airlines' first Airbus A310 landed in
Israel last Friday and is set to make its maiden flight to Paris Sunday.
The aircraft is the first of two aircraft of this type leased by Israir until
2010, when it will receive the aircraft it purchased. The aircraft features
180 seats and is a medium to long-range widebody airliner. It was the second
model to be introduced by Airbus after the A300.
Israir has long been searching to replace its Boeing 757s, which it used for
international flights. At first it tried to acquire Boeing 737-800s, but was
not successful.
Israir will operate the Airbus A310 aircraft on all the company's routes to
Europe instead of the Boeing 757s used until now.
