Internet in Poland question

Hello. My colleague asks me about the matters connected withe the internet
in Poland - but I do not know much about it. Maybe someone can answer:


"I intend getting broadband internet when I will stay in Poland. The thing is
do you know if I need to then get a telephone(and line)
installed too, and do they supply you with the modem or router and cables? Do
you know what speed
it is, like 512kb for example and the installation costs? I am sorry to be
asking you this, as I do
not even know if you know what I am talking about. I went on chat but the
people I asked did not
really know. They told me there is a new TV cable modem on promotion or
something.

I remember when we got our ADSL they had to come and check the lines, then
they gave us an ADSL
modem, which is then plugged into the LAN(network) card. I also heard that in
Poland the people
share their LAN connections or something."

Sharing the internet acces is not allowed.People do so that one person buys the
acces and then share the band with others in order to lower the costs, but you
come on slow and pure quality acces.You can install either a dial-up and the
like connection or a radio one.For the first solution you have to have a
telephone line and an adsl modem which is you given by IP provider.For a radio
acces you have to pay installation costs and of course the the telefon is not
necessary.The monthly payment for an adsl acces vary from 60-150 PLN which is
about 15-35 US dollars.The radio one is cheaper but the installation costs
about 350-700 PLN.For a common purpose the 128 kb/sec. option is good enought
and it costs 59 PLN /month without installation costs.(now on sale in TPsa.)ou
need a telephone line for it, but it is easy to get nowdays.
