      For what purpose? Learning English?
My favourite is The Beatles' "In My Life" - very easy to listen to and figure
out the text, and a great text too.

I have a really nice song, in english version of course. I have tried to
learn it, but it's too difficult to remember (joke;-). If you have a sense of
humour, you will like it. Here is a
      text:

      "Blame Canada"
      (it's from South Park soundtrack)

      Time's have changed
Our kids are kids are getting worse
      They wont obey their parents
They just want to fart and curse!
      Should we blame the government?
      Or blame society?
Or should we blame the images on TV?
      No, blame Canada
      Blame Canada
With all their beady little eyes
And flappin heads so full of lies
      Blame Canada
      Blame Canada
We need to form a full assault
      It's Canadas fault!
      Don't blame me
      For my son Stan
      He saw the darn cartoon
And now he's off to join the Klan!
      And my boy Eric once
Had my picture on his shelf
But now when I see him he tells me to fuck myself!
      Well, blame Canada
      Blame Canada
It seems that everythings gone wrong
      Since Canada came along
      Blame Canada
      Blame Canada
There not even a real country anyway
My son could've been a doctor or a lawyer it's true
Instead he burned up like a piggy on a barbecue
      Should we blame the matches?
      Should we blame the fire?
Or the doctors who allowed him to expire?
      Heck no!
      Blame Canada
      Blame Canada
      With all their hockey hubbabaloo
And that bitch Anne Murray too
      Blame Canada
      Shame on Canada
      The smut we must stop
      The trash we must smash
      Laughter and fun
      must all be undone
We must blame them and cause a fuss
Before someone thinks of blaming uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuus

Hey there people I'm Bobby Brown
They say I'm the cutest boy in town
My car is fast, my teeth are shiney
I tell all the girls they can kiss my hinie
Here I am at a famous school
I'm dressin sharp and I'm actin' cool
I got a cheerleader here wants to help with my paper
Let her do all the work, maybe later I rape her

Oh god I am the American dream
I do not think I'm too extreme
      and I'm a handsome sonofabitch
I'm gonna get a good job and be real rich.

Women's liberation came creepin' across the nation
I tell you people, I was not ready
When I fucked this dyke by the name of Freddie
she made a little speech then
Aw, she tried to make me say when
She had my balls in a vice
      but she left the dick
I guess I'm still hooked on,
but now it shoots too quick

Oh god I am the American dream
but now I smell like Vasseline
      and I'm a miserable sonofabitch
      Am I a boy or a lady---I don't know which

So I went out n' bought me a leisure suit
I jingle my change, but I'm still kinda cute
got a job doin' radio promo
An' none of the jocks can even tell I'm a homo
      Eventually me n' a friend
      sort a' drifted along into S & M
I can take about an hour on the tower of power
'long as I gets a little golden shower

Oh god I am the American dream
with a spindle up my butt till it makes me scream
and I do anything to get a head
I lay awake nights sayin "thank you Fred!"
Oh god oh god I'm so fantastic,
thanks to Fred I'm a sexual spastic
and my name is Bobby Brown,
watch me now I'm goin down

        The Red Strokes
        performed by Garth Brooks

Moonlight on canvas, midnight and wine -
two shadows starting to softly combine
The picture they're painting is one of the heart
And to those who have seen it, it's a true work of art

Oh, the red strokes - passions uncaged -
        thundering moments of tenderness rage
Oh, the red strokes - tempered and strong -
burning the night like the dawn

Steam on the window, salt in a kiss
Two hearts have never pounded like this
Inspired by a vision that they can't command
Erasing the borders with each brush of a hand

Oh, the red strokes - passions uncaged -
        thundering moments of tenderness rage
Oh, the red strokes - tempered and strong -
burning the night like the dawn

Oh, the blues will be blue, and the jealousies green -
but when love picks its shade it demands to be seen

Oh, the red strokes - passions uncaged -
        thundering moments of tenderness rage
Oh, the red strokes - tempered and strong -
burning the night like the dawn

Oh, the red strokes - passions uncaged -
        thundering moments of tenderness rage
Oh, the red strokes - tempered and strong -
burning the night like the dawn

Here it goes, one of the most popular American religious songs. I proudly
      present:

      AMAZING GRACE

Amazing Grace how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me,
I once was lost, but now I’m found,
Was blind, but now I see,

It was Grace that taught my heart to fear,
      And Grace my fears relieved,
Our prayers just did the Grace appear,
      The hour I first believed,

      Amazing Grace how ........

PS. This is an excellent theme, I mean "English songs." It's just too bad one
cannot attach the mp3 files to the texts.

Nice approach, awalk, but very 'old hat'. While admittedly 'English song'
header does not exclude evesong or hymn, both are rather weired choice in
response to a request for "nice English song", especialy when
presented "proudly". Try something more realistic, like:

            The First Law of Thermodynamics
Heat is work and work is heat
Heat is work and work is heat
Very good! The second Law of Thermodynamics
Heat cannot of itself pass from one body to a hotter body
Heat cannot of itself pass from one body to a hotter body

Heat won't pass from a cooler to a hotter
Heat won't pass from a cooler to a hotter
You can try it if you like but you'd far better notter
You can try it if you like but you'd far better notter
'Cos the cold in the cooler will get hotter as a ruler
'Cos the cold in the cooler will get hotter as a ruler
'Cos the hotter body's heat will pass to the cooler
'Cos the hotter body's heat will pass to the cooler
            (...)
Heat is work and work's a curse
And all the heat in the universe
            Is gonna coooool down
            'Cos it can't increase
Then there'll be no more work
            And there'll be perfect peace
            Really?
            Yeah, that's entropy, maaan!

Ok chickenshorts, I take back "I proudly present," you are right it's not
apropriate(it would take to long to explain why I used it, so I'll skip that
part)however, what is really weird is your strong reaction to it. It might be
              stupid but it's not offensive.

Going back to songs I chose. One is a children song quite popular among
American children. And guess what, I taught it to my 11 yrs old daughter here
in Poland, and she loved it. She loved it so much that she taught it to her
friends at school, and they loved it too. So I think it may be helpful in
              teaching Englisch to Polish children.

The second song, Amazing Grace, I chose not because I am a religious person,
but because I like the melody, and I like to sing, and it is simple enough for
me to sing. This is as simple as that.

That is why I think and I will insist they are nice English songs.

As to your song, I like the text, but how about the tune? Nobody here in Poland
knows the tune, so what's the point, a text without a tune?

Just to clear up any misunderstanding: my 'both are weired' ref. to evesong
(evening singing in church) and hymn and Not to your first choice.
It was a relief to hear you are not a religious fanatic. Ignore my
                earlier 'warning' post.

I am not religiuos fanatic, I am religious protestant though, and I think
alergy on hymns is rather unfair. They can be good songs as well as songs about
fucking, or maybe it's impossible, mr. chickenshorts?

so one more hymn, I think very nice:

I the Lord of Sea and Sky (Here I am Lord)

I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard My people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin,
        My hand will save.
I who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear My light to them?
        Whom shall I send?

        Chorus:
Here I am Lord, Is it I Lord?
I have heard You calling in the night.
I will go Lord, if You lead me.
I will hold Your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of snow and rain,
I have born my peoples pain.
I have wept for love of them, They turn away.
I will break their hearts of stone,
Give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak My word to them,
        Whom shall I send?

        (Chorus)

I, the Lord of wind and flame,
I will tend the poor and lame.
I will set a feast for them,
        My hand will save
        Finest bread I will provide,
        Till their hearts be satisfied.
I will give My life to them,
        Whom shall I send?

        Here I am Lord...

have a nice day all kind of folks

          Dear mr Religious,
Isn't your thinking a bit fuzzy? Being a 'religious protestant', where
a 'protestant' would suffice, sounds a bit fanatical to me. But I am willing

      Lisa Minelli, Cabaret

What good is sitting all alone
      In your room?
      Come hear the music play.
Life is a Cabaret, old chum,
      Come to the Cabaret.

      Put down the knitting,
      The book and the broom.
      It's time for a holiday.
Life is a Cabaret, old chum,
      Come to the Cabaret.

      Come taste the wine,
      Come hear the band.
      Come blow a horn,
      Start celebrating;
      Right this way,
      Your table's waiting.

      No use permitting
      Some prophet of doom
      To wipe every smile away.
Life is a Cabaret, old chum,
      Come to the Cabaret!

I used to have a girlfriend
      Known as Elsie,
      With whom I shared
      The sordid room in Chelsea
      She wasn't what you'd call
      A blushing flower...
      As a matter of fact
      She rented by the hour.

The day she died the neighbors
      Came to snicker:
      "Well, that's what comes
From too much pills and liquor."
But when I saw her laid out like a Queen,
      She was the happiest... corpse...
      I'd ever seen.

I think of Elsie to this very day.
I remember how she'd turn to me and say:
"What good is sitting all alone
      In you room?
      Come hear the music play.
Life is a Cabaret, old chum,
      Come to the Cabaret.

      Put down the knitting,
      The book and the broom.
      It's time for a holiday.
Life is a Cabaret, old chum,
      Come to the Cabaret."

      And as for me,
I made my mind up, back in Chelsea,
When I go, I'm going like Elsie.

      Start by admitting,
      From cradle to tomb
      Isn't that a long a stay.
Life is a Cabaret, old chum,
      Only a Cabarert, old chum
      And I love a Cabaret.

Farm" from the film "This is Spinal Tap".

        Working on a sex farm
        Trying to raise some livestock
        Getting out my pitchfork
        Poking your hay

They also wrote "Big Bottom", which goes something along the lines of:

The bigger the cushion, the sweeter the pushin'
        That's what they say
The looser the waistband, the deeper the quicksand
        Or so I have read

My baby fits me lke a flesh tuxedo
I want to sink her with my pink torpedo

        Big bottom, big bottom
Talk about mud flaps, my girl's got 'em
        Big bottom, big bottom
How could I leave this behind?

It's classic 80's rock, poodle hairstyles, tight spandex trousers with
cucmbers down the front, all good quality stuff
