Canadian warning to dual Polish-Canadian citizens

22.05.03, 17:48
www.voyage.gc.ca/dest/report-en.asp?country=241000
Dual nationality is not officially recognized. This may limit the ability of
Canadian officials to provide consular services. However, Polish nationals
are permitted to be citizens of another country. Polish law requires dual
nationals to enter and exit Poland on a Polish passport. A Polish citizen
may be permitted to enter Poland on an expired Polish passport or a Polish
passport that will expire while in Poland. In such cases, those affected
will not be allowed to leave Poland until a new Polish passport has been
obtained

in Poland. Polish border guards may keep you there till you comply with their
      demands.

grafiti, i went through about similar shock on learning about the new
requirements for poles living abroad wishing to visit their old country. i must
tell you that i am somehow cured of that paranoia, after i visited poland last
summer. the country is not the same it was in communist times, when soldiers
with bagonets were the first to 'welcome' you on the okecie runway...
today, it seems to me, the customs proceedure at the okecie airport is no
diffrent from that of Heathrow, JFK, YVR, or LAX.
and, here is a bonus, in a year or so, with the polish passport you may seek
work or residence in any of the eu countries.
so, take heart, and just relax, expecting to have a pleasant holiday in poland -
      - just as you would anywhere else around the world, if you are a law abiding
      citizen...
      ;)

Why don't they change their laws to reflect their supposed "civilized" status?
Why do they make it so difficult to renounce Polish citizenship. Just look to
other civilized countries just to the west of Poland to see what types of laws
they have. They do not try to force them to be their citizen. They do allow
travel in and out of their countries on other countries passports. There is
still a lot to be changed in Poland before it will deserve a "civilized
        country" status.

i don't see your point, grafiti. if you don't like your birth-country, you
          adopt another one
