jak wyglądają studia w anglii

IP: 212.182.68.* 12.11.08, 13:20
etc.) i życie studenckie(Hull uni).

well, still same problem with language.. cool.

Our mate call "przyszly student", thats mean "future student". He want to study
in Britain and have few question about it.
My suggestion is to find this information on google with specific phrase like
      "study in uk".

      and my answer in Polish:
spróbuj pogooglać. hasło "studiowanie w anglii" wypluwa 422 tysiące stron,
powinieneś znaleźć tam stosowne informacje, przykładowa strona jaka otworzyłem
      to www.gostudyuk.eu/.
btw, jak chcesz studiować w uk nie znajac języka??

Check at their webpage, go to FAQ section as well:

      www.hull.ac.uk/undergraduate/index.html
I've been told is always better if U have at least Bachelor Degree or Masster
Degree. I doubt that anyone would take one year study in Poland into
consideration. But you can also start with exchange programms like Sokrates-
Erasmus, check first if your Alma Mater has an agreement with the university you
desire for studies (or any other university; quite popular is University of
London)or if there is any other possibility of participating in a foreign
scholarship. Half a year of Erasmus can be your "mock" period, it's possible to
prolonge it for the next six months or even stay till graduation. But the whole
procedure must be "fixed" far in advance.
      Good luck!

I was not asking about how to apply for a place at uk uni, or is it how to look for a scholarship. I am looking for information about how average englísh students day looks like especially 1st year student. What is the diffrence between leceures, seminars and tutorials.etc.
I know that google page is a good place for looking answers to my questions, but as someone mentioned there are thousands results, and I can add that 99% of them are useless.
      • jonathan.oakley Re: jak wyglądają studia w anglii 26.11.08, 19:03
It seems to me you have wasted our time by originally asking the
question in Polish-then complaining in English when it has been
misinterpreted despite polite efforts to help you. I think that is
very poor etiquette. As with most things in life, there is a certain
way to go about things and your way isn't one of them.
        • Gość: Przyszły student Re: jak wyglądają studia w anglii IP: *.mobile.project4.pl 26.11.08, 20:35
Oh I hate, that I wrote my question on polish page, and that all users had to spend long hours on looking for answer or translateing my question. But I wonder to know, how it is possible that users werd able to translate my post and in the same time they gave me answers to questions I didnt ask?
          Isnt it strange?
          • jonathan.oakley Re: jak wyglądają studia w anglii 26.11.08, 20:53
Wow..the only thing strange is your attitude...full stop.

          • gardenersdog Re: jak wyglądają studia w anglii 01.12.08, 00:03
If you were intrested in a students' life at Hull university and Hull university
itself (its faculties, curriculum, common rules) you should have directed your
question to an appropriate TARGET i.e. STUDENTS COMMUNITY OF HULL UNIVERSITY,
theirs local pages, forums, blog, etc. The path you chose( missing the target of
your post)raises the question if there is any point in studying in your case?
            Think on it.
          • Gość: Iwona Re: jak wyglądają studia w anglii IP: 91.143.186.* 04.12.08, 15:48
masz powazny problem kolego. Studiowanie w tym kraju to nie tylko
znajomosc jezyka (ktorej nie posiadasz), ale tez podstawy kultury
(tez brak). Ludzie traca czas, zeby ci pomoc, a ty zamiast
            podziekowac, to chamsko odpisujesz.
        • ingeborg Re: jak wyglądają studia w anglii 23.12.08, 18:11
oh, c'mon, he just wrote, that he needed other kind of information,
and in my opinion it wasn't impolite. He didn't complain, he
specified his question - you can find in google al information about
applying, forms, degrees and universities, but it's difficult to
find any information about the university reality.

          And - I'm sorry to say - well-behaved person doesn't make comments
          about other people's bad manners.
          • jonathan.oakley Re: jak wyglądają studia w anglii 23.12.08, 19:19
He originally asked the question in Polish-this then got lost in
translation so he told us in good English but rather rudely that he
was really looking for something else. It seems to me that he was
more than capable of making his orginal request in English..what a
complete waste of out time...! If someone used up your time
needlessly would you say something? I think it will provide him with
            definition for the future.

Could you please tell me why you're such an arrogant asshole? He
simply asked you a question and made the mistake of asking it in
Polish (which is quite normal, since this is a Polish website). Then
suddently some idiot (with broken English) told him to google it. He
answered, that he will not google it, since he wants first hand
information. Then again, everyone (including you) started bashing
him, god knows why. How is he "wasting your time"? I assume that you
already know the question and can easily answer, but simply choose
not too, since you have no idea how studying in the UK looks like
(because you've never been to university). And you're here to answer
OUR questions, and by not doing so you are wasting OUR time. So
answer his question and stop being such a punk.

First up I do this forum on a voluntary basıs-I do not receive a fee. The forum
ideal ıs that this is a place to practice English. İ try to respond to all
questions that are asked in English. İf I feel someone is being abusive or
misusing the forum then İ will say so-though İ would hope that the Gazeta
moderator would moderate accordingly. There are plenty of other forums on the
net where people can be abusive to one another. İ have been to the Chinese
University and to Exeter University. What you say is important-but how you say
                it is even more important.

'przyszly student': there are many different ways of studying in UK and every
university offers something different so first it is up to you to decide where
do you want to study: London or Luton, Oxford or Birmingham? Then what are you
able to afford: full time study in Oxford for 8k per year or Birkbeck for 1.5k
per year? Then what do you study- you havent mentioned so far- and what is the
system of studying that yours univeristy follows? In England ( I might be wrong)
most of the univeristies use CATS points what makes it extremelly easy to change
universities throughtout the whole period of study. cheers and good luck.

I'm doing 3rd year, full time, BSc, at Northampton University. I've
never had more than 15 hours a week, plus lots of off- study weeks,
long holidays. Studying is deadly easy, comparing to Polish uni
English one is more like an elementary school:
      1. Lectures look like classes in average high school; tutor
makes some presentation, some group work, researches on laptop…
      2. Assignments are set up every few weeks, are usually short
(up to 2000 words, so about 4 pages, often less ), often you have
class time for completing each piece of work, tutor can help you on
      every step
      3. There are only few exams and during revision sessions you
get much of the info required, if not exact questions. The biggest
shock was ‘seen paper exam’- week before I’ve got questions, last
time I did it in 1st class elementary school…
      4. The challenge was presentations, numbers of assignments are
10-20 min presentations, I haven’t done them at two courses at
Polish uni, but they are good in terms of further employment.
      5. Although my English is not perfect I didn’t have any
problems so far, and if I’m not sure of sth in my work there is The
Academic Practice Centre always happy to help.
      6. You spend 15h /week at uni, the rest is fun, so you can
imagine how students life looks like
      Good Luck

And what about studying 2 courses at different unis in the same time? One part- time, one full time? Is it difficult or impossible? Unis are not far away one from the other one.
