This hotel is very nice, food excellent, shows in the night and people who works there are very nic e...........I do not have any complains about this hotel.

“Continuously Improving”
Just got back from the Riu. Very impressed with the whole holiday. Met at the airport by First Choice coach. On the coach we were issued with our room number, room key card and towel cards which replaced the need for the lengthy checking in process usually required. We were very presently surprised as the hotel was excellent. The food was delicious with lots of variety for both breakfast, lunch and dinner. The amount of fresh fruit and vegetables was amazing.

This was my first time to Cuba and I learned a few important lessons about Cuba and about the Riu:
Bring cash! You can exchange Canadian and Cuban dollars, but if you don’t have any to begin with, there are no bank machines in Cuba and you need to go to the hotel across the street and hope their credit card terminal is working that day.

My husband, teens and I had wonderful vacation at RIU.
RIU is RIU and Cuba is Cuba.
RIU has high level of services for the money we pay for 5 star resort.

Check-in: was good and smooth, we got a room right away (we arrived at noon, but the resort was empty).

Room: quite weird for the 7mths old five stars hotel.

(*) The first room we’ve got (B20 building, room 20116) had a problem in the bathroom – two large wet cracks in two corners of the wall, behind the toilet.
(*) When I touched the wall lamp next to the bed it fall off from the wall.
(*) No separate shower cabin, the bath tub is quite high and it was a challenge for older people and young kids to get into the bath and especially to get out of it (when you are wet). I’ve heard several complaints around that people did fall while getting out of the bath.
(*) No clock in the room.
(*) TV reception is quite poor, especially when it rains.
(*) Pillow-case and bed sheets were grey from dirt and dust, and had multiple spots.
(*) Same for the room towels: grey from the dirt, with holes, some had labels ‘IBEROSTAR’ on them (I was wondering, did they buy used bed sheets and towels…. During our first week on some days we did not get bath towels at all in the room, just a face (small) towels; on multiple requests for the towels, they had promised to bring them later, but never did (though we tipped everywhere..).
(*) Furniture: not very convenient with only three small drawers to unpack clothes.

Beach Towels:

Same story as for room towels, very old, wear out, had multiple spots and holes. And it was really hard to change them (you cannot get a towel card back until check-out, you had to change a towel to a towel; towel hut is only at the pool which is far from the beach and works only very restricted hours, in our two weeks time stay we managed to change beach towels only once).
