Only few days left

26.05.06, 13:07
Before a big massacre of the english football fans on the streets in Germany.
It is estimated 250 000 Polish patriotic fans will be in Germany to meet
and "welcome" them.
I can hardly wait.
REMEMBER YALTA - NEVER FORGET, NEVER FORGIVE.

        Yalta?
        Greetings?
I don't think the Polish hools are THAT good at history...
And I don't think a massacre will happen. If anything, the Brits will massacre
themselves if they try to beat our fans at drinking vodkasmile)

Honestly? For the real fans I think it will all be fantastic, and I'm really
jelaous I didn't get a chance to get a ticket to any match. And I'm sure the
germans are well prepared for it. And I wish I was in Berlin to see it all.

I heard the Polish fans were planning to bore the English to death with
historical lectures, anecdotes about the pope, moaning about how poor Poland is
and asking them if they can say "chrząszcz brzmi w trzcinie".

The Scots can counter such contempt by consuming a bit of Fasolka po Britonsku,

I think that was the plan, but we didn't qualify, so Scots fans will spend the
tournament in front the telly drinking beer and looking for examples of biased
pro-English refereeing decisions that they can complain about for the next four
          years smile

I pity them if they cross our lads, I really do.

Remember that the English fight for fun, and not just to steal money, which may
be more what you are familiar with. If the Polish fans want to provoke conflict
with UK fans, they will discover that it will not be sufficient to make penguin
impersonations and drop rocks on cars off of bridges where no-one can get them
back, they will actually have to become acquiainted with the steel of the
British botherboy's toe cap, his finely honed knuckles, his teeth, and his well-
      practised and precision executed nut.

Believe you me, the soccer hooligans can fight a lot more convincingly than
          Hugh Grant and Colin Firth.

It's not accountants and lawyers out there fighting, it's brickies and
          chippies.

I saw a highly amusing scene in the Folk Gospoda shortly before Christmas.
There was the Sheraton hotel employees' Christmas party, and they started a
fight amongst themselves, and they were blotto, and it looked really pathetic.
They fought like women - not a single bottle was broken and drawn across
          someone's face.

Then the police arrived and questioned them for the rest of the evening. They
were so pathetic they didn't even manage to run away from the pigs.

I could have done better at the age of 15.

If you think you could get through a comprehensive school education without
getting into scraps in seventies Britain, you are looking at our reality with
              rose tinted spectacles.

I may not have gone to football, but that was not the only place you could get
your head kicked in in my town.

I remember in 80s Lech Poznan playing with Liverpool, shortly after Heysel. The
English hools were practically decimated when they faced Poznan fans.

Whatever you have seen at hotel's employees party it's not representative. You

I don't expect the Polish fans will start any trouble, and if they do I don't
think it will be against English people when so many Germans are there for the

They are not interested in trying the England fans. If they do, then there

If any REAL trouble starts, it will all be happening at those. Both sides, ANY
sides take part in it because they want to and then thay have beer afterwards
            unless the police come along.

btw. most fights are started by inderage 'fans' as they are least likely to be
sentenced or caught for that matter. I can't see many of them going off
            abroad...

btw2. a trip to Germany is quite expenisve. A trip to a Legia or Lech match is
            not.

None of the England fans were even born at the time of Yalta, and most of their
      grandparents voted against Churchill.
If you have to live in the past, try to live in your own past - it's slightly
less pathetic than living in someone else's.

Besides there was not much Churchill could have done to help Poland.
The country ws already occupied by the Soviets. The UK was the junior partner in
the coalition. The Americans - under the influence of a Soviet infiltrated State
Department - was definitely against the London Poles and against the English as
well. And very blissfully ignorant of what happened in Poland in 1945.
Short of starting a war against the Soviet Union (and nobody in Western Europe
would have accepted that) nothing could be done by Churchill.

Basically most folk in Europe, East and West, had had enough of war.
Some may have seen Yalta as a sell-out that they were prepared to accept (a
lesser evil), some just wanted peace at any cost, a few people then still
believed in communism, some saw it as a temporary measure.
Most of the Poles stationed in Scotland in WW2 (70,000 stayed after the war
ended) believed the situation was temporary, and that they'd be going home
soon, it was only a couple of years later that there were falsified elections
in Eastern Europe and it became clear (to people in the west) that it might be
          permanent.

Basically Europe was f**ked, America wasn't and the average American didn't
          care too much about Europe.

Personally, I'm not a fan of Churchill. He was an arrogant Tory who wasn't
                  particularly liked before the war.
However, he was an excellent orator, and it's generally accepted that he was an
inspiring and respected wartime leader, even (albeit grudgingly) by those who
disliked his character or politics. My grandparents and other relatives that
lived through those times rarely had a bad word to say about Churchill's role
in the war, even though they had the same instinctive hatred for all Tories
that most people have in the West of Scotland.
