While Scotland was too busy doing something else to qualify for the World
Cup, assorted ex-pats, gastarbeiters and immigrants all over our fair land
will spend the next few weeks samba-ing, fiesta-ing or lying down and
saying "kurwa" after their second beer.

Now I'm off to Siwy's house to sit and drink beer in front of the telly.

Interesting fact:
More of the players in this year's Mundial play in the Scottish league than
in the Polish (although most of them are Trinidadian or Polish).

I think that Janas chappie has his days numbered.

England play Sweden in this round of course, and I am reminded of a sketch by
Dead Ringers when Sven Goren Eriksson was in charge at one other (less vital)
Sweden vs England match. The spoof Eriksson said "either England will lose, and
then my pride wil be utterly destroyed or Sweden will lose, and then my soul
will be utterly destroyed. Whatever happens, I will lose." Or words to that
effect. That was a piece of humour of course, but it would be interesting to
know just what does go on inside his head at such games.

I liked the quotes about Polish commentators being more sarcastic than British
ones. This must be some new version of sarcasm. Also the guy who said he
thought Carlisle would be the best place to watch England vs Paraguay (1-0 heh
heh) was very amusing.

PZPN is said to be a criminal organization, that includes Janas and his
unpredictable squad. Kaz Gorski must be turning in his grave. And Janas's gone
missing refusing to comment on anything. How pathetic is that!

Poland is now defeated by Germany, but after a much better display than they
showed against Sancho Panchez a few days ago.

I wonder what will happen to Janas, after this? If the Costa Rica game is
impressive, maybe he will stay in place, but if not - and I fear that the team
will be despondent and not do its best - then I think he will be retraining as
a lorry driver or something before too long.

That was a good game, Dave. They got so many breaks and when the ball started
hitting the post one after another, I thought they definitely had angels on
their shoulders. They sure needed them after that one guy got kicked out. I
can't believe the last goal!!! Perhaps they thought the win was already a given
and they just let that one slip in the last seconds of the game. Nooooooo!!!

The Polish team, as with many football teams, is apt to become complacent when
they think somethings in the bag, and the goal that then comes is like the
thief in the night. There was nothing more they could do in that last minute,
and they are lucky the Germans didn't take advantage of their psychological low
ebb and make it 2-0.

I think that Sobolewski should have been substituted out after the first yellow
card, especially as he appeared tired. It is really the fault of Janas that
Poland were playing with ten players at the end of that game.
