lone parent) was higher rate of child benefitwhich used to be paid for the
eldest child of lone parents. it was withdrawn for new lone parents from 5
july 1998. But if you get child benefit for a child you have been bringing uo
on your own since then, you may still be able to get in.
To get child benefit ( lone parent) you must
- have been getting child benefit continuouslysince 5 july 1998
- have been single, divorced, permanently separated , a widower or a widow
continuously since 5 july 1998 and
- apply for child benefit ( lone parent) within one calendar month of coming
off Income Support, income - based Jobseeker's Allowance or a specified
benefit.
You must also satify one of the following rules. You must have
- come off Income support or income-based Jobseeker's Allowance on or after
6 july 1998 to start paid work and have been getting a lone parent rate of
family premium when your Income support or income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
stoped, or
- come off Income support or income-based Jobseeker/s Allowance to strat
paid work and were getting a pensioner premium or disability premium at 5
april 1998 and when Income Support or income-based Jobseeker's Allowanced
stopped,or
- been getting a specified benefit before 6 july 1998 and this must have
stopped on or after 6 july 1998.
