Daniel! If the discussions in this thread are to be only in English why on
earth you have written the topic in Polish?? :-)

Too bad that I don't have much time these days and I won't be able to take
active part in the discussions :-(, but maybe I will do my best to improve the
situation??. It will be a good practice before my exam...

My optimism had left me, lately :(
Things are not happening like they could. I'm losing faith for better tommorow.
Fear had swept over me today. I had a strange headache but not like usually. I
felt it even in my throat, and I can feel it a little, still. Probably nothing
serious. But it made me to start thinking.

              dark - ciemny, ponury, ukryty

    • wojciasf Re: Wątek angielsko-angielski. 11.09.04, 00:37
it's the title of Iron Maiden song and I haven't made it up. We can only assume
what the author wanted to say. Maybe we could think together how to translate
      it nicely?
    • kubatka Re: Wątek angielsko-angielski. 13.09.04, 01:08
It's high time I started writing in English in order no to lose fluency in
writing in English. I've got an exam in two days' time and I will have to write
      an essay then...wrrrrr...

As I became aware of the difficulties that lay ahead, my morale dropped :(

      Hello Danway and Friends,
I am back here - with greetings from forum Roztocze!

English Only - what a great idea :-)
I have something a little poem for you today. Enjoy:

      Teach Me

Teach me the value of good
When I have only the capacity for evil.
Teach me the value of love
When I have only the capacity for hate.

Teach me the value of knowledge
When I lack the opportunity to use it.
Teach me the value of opinion
When I am not permitted to voice it.

Teach me the value of honesty
When there is so little of it around me.
Teach me the value of reason
When there is so little of it used.

Teach me the value of trust
When in myself I have little.
Teach me the value of these virtues
When I am ignorant of their meaning.

Soooooo, you have dared to write here! Excellent. I gather that you enjoyed
          learning what "capacity" was...
Arwen, I am convinced that you have the capacity for all the things beautiful!

Now about this "daring" business: Little kids often play the game "truth or
dare"... Do you know how to play it? It's a fun game, even older kids (I mean
those over 20 and even 30) like to play it sometimes :-))

You know that according to our frieds I'm a small kid. And I love every fun
games. I don't know how to play this game "truth or dare" :-(

              Hello Arwen,
Of course I can, but it's complicated. The best way to learn is to practice it!
As with everything, "practice makes perfect". :-))) Hopefuly we can do it

        Murder in the Bathtub

        About to take a bath
I spied a spider in the tub
        Eight legs worked
        trying to climb
        the unscalable thirty feet
        of slippery pink enamel
        Poor thing -

        What could I do?
We didn't like his webs in the house
and out in the snow he would freeze
        or starve

        I picked up a jar
        and crushed him
        quickly

I shrugged off that nasty guilt
        After all
People kill spiders all the time

I'm about to write an essay on topic: 'does generation gap really exist in your
society?' and I have no idea how to write it and what to write in it :D. I like
writing essays but not on such stupid topics Something tells me that I will
write it tomorrow morning just before classes :D

        Hi Hello
It was a big brake for me in this thread.
Armitage I have a question for you. Would you like to continue our convesations
in english ? Since our last talk, I haven't use it at all.
        What do you think ?
        • armitage3 Re: Wątek angielsko-angielski. 26.04.05, 16:25
I would be glad to do so.

So what would be the subject of our conversation??

          • jatotylko Re: Wątek angielsko-angielski. 26.04.05, 22:46
Is it the only place where we could talk ?
            That is only a question.
            • armitage3 Re: Wątek angielsko-angielski. 27.04.05, 00:16
Aahhh i know what You mean. But yes this is the only place ......... for now.
This is because i use my PC only at night, and i haven't much time to do so.
So for now this will have to do.

I think that telling here anything else is not necessary, till next - you know

      Hi Daniel and Friends,
After your encouragement (given on "Roztocze" I decided to pay you a little visit...
What have you been up to lately?
Don't worry about the silence here - exams are soon over (most of you are
students, I presume...) - and you WILL get your lives back!
      Cheers,
      B.

Look what I was just reading:
          ---
Our language has wisely sensed the two sides of being alone.
It has created the word "loneliness" to express the pain of being alone.
And it has created the word "solitude" to express the glory of being alone.

Dear Blotniarka, please, can you tell me how long must I wait for my fluent
English... I have lived in english country for 5 months and...
            wrrrr... I mean...
I wanna cry... I wanna speak Polish!
            • blotniarka.stawowa Re: Wątek angielsko-angielski. 27.05.05, 23:13
              Dear Arwen,
              There are no rules here...
I know it sounds cruel, but try to isolate yourself from Polish speaking people,
and talk to everyone in English only. You’ll find that at the beginning it’s
easier to understand others than to express yourself, which can be frustrating
              at times... But don’t worry!
My advice: open your mouth in the morning and talk, talk, talk – to everybody
that is willing to listen (your neighbour, bus driver, store clerk, co-workers,
              etc.)- all day long!!!

Good luck Arwen - I KNOW you can do it! :))
              • arwen.a Re: Wątek angielsko-angielski. 27.05.05, 23:39
                Thank :) I will!!!
But is one small problem - my friends here are Polish people.
                Hmmm...
We can speak English each other...
Now I can understand (at least) Irish people. That's true - I'm verrrrry,
werrrry angry when I can't express myself...
OK, we'll try talk, talk, talk :)

                (really can I do it?)

That’s a good start! It’s easier to talk and understand major accents
                  (American=NAm, English English=EE, Australian=AusE, New Zealand=NZE) than
distinguish Irish from Scotisch, Welsh etc. You are doing well already!

                  > (really can I do it?)
I have no doubts about that :) We have not met in person, but I've conversed
with you on the net - you are smart, determined and ambitious.
                  Best wishes, Arwen :))
