Hi,
I just wanted to chime in and tell you about the experience of my best
friend four years ago. This was her third pregnancy, second set of twins and
a UC. She had lovely contractions for about three weeks on and off with nice
endorphin rushes afterwards, but they would always peter out. Her DH checked
her and she sat at 5cm for over 2 weeks. She was so thankful she wasn't
having medical care, as she would have been sectioned. When she started to
feel really frustrated, she did some housekeeping both mental and physical.
She swept all of the negative energy out of her house then sat on her porch
(with a little round her between her legs, as she was about 7 cms at this
point) with her journal, and wrote about everything she was feeling. She
then had a wise woman friend come and check her. They felt the fontanelles
of the presenting baby and found that he was sitting occiput transverse. So
she went to work spinning the baby. She slept that night on her left side
with a pillow between her legs. Spent all day in the tub on the left side,
on her hands and knees and doing stairs and lunges. Her water broke, and she
was at a ten. She had mild ctx all day. Went to bed that night in a really
akward position, on the left side really rolled over (almost laying on the
belly) with many pillows between the legs. Woke at about four thirty am and
had baby 1 by 5 and baby 2 25 minutes later! Dad was happy to catch them
both.

All this to say that babies do not always follow the friedman curve, as we
know!
Good Luck,
Lee-Ann
