Student looking for accomodation in Warsaw

17.05.04, 20:40
Hello...

Firstly: Sorry, I know that there is a tourist forum as well, but
unfortunately i am not able to write in polish language :-(

So now: I will come to discover Warsaw on the 7th of June for five days.
Therefore I would be very thankful if anybody could give me some tips about
how to find cheap accomodation there. Due to I am a student my budget has
some restrictions... and therefore I would appreciate your help very much!!!!

And there is another thing that I want to ask you: Could maybe somebody give
me some tips on how to spend a day in "real Warsaw". Actually I am not keen
on just seing the famous tourist attractions in this town. I would rather
like to discover the real Warsaw - to get an impression of the local people's
view on their town and to discover some real and honest places.

Or maybe you could recommend me another forum where I could request or find
some tips??? This would really be nice!!!!

I also would be pleased if you could give me any tips concerning the
alternative art/culture/music scene in warsaw. well, I know that there is a
lot of "jazz-spirit" in your town... if you could tell me some of the hot
spots or art/concert-venues this would really be great!!!

Thank you very much for your tips in advance!!!!

Many greetings from Salzburg (Austria),

Jürgen

this is a site with youth hostels. I think it's the cheapest form of
      accomodation in Warsaw.
I think that you could visit "stadion XX-lecia"- a famous polish bazar with
hundreds of stands where people from different (mainly eastern) parts of the
world sell different (legal and less legal:) items. if you go there, go there in
the early morning, and be careful so as not to be robbed! (I mean it) it's in
the eastern part of the city, near the river, close to MOST PONIATOWSKIEGO
      (Poniatowski's bridge).
You could see our university- it's in KRAKOWSKIE PRZEDMIESCIE, just go around
and see the place where polish (and not only) people study; or you can visit
SGH- Warsaw School of Economics- it's in AL. NIEPODLEGLOSCI- it's also a famous
      school.
What else- I don't know exactly what is happening in Warsaw in June:(
But I think that the best way to experience "real life" is to get acquainted
with a local person and spend for example a day with him/her (I liked this idea,
when I visited my fiend in London, we went to a party in the evening, and I
found out that she was in a way different than when she visited me in Poland).
      So, Have fun!!!
by the way- why are you coming to Warsaw?
