jeszcze 30 lat temu częściej się słyszało. teraz skrót i've pozostał głównie w
utartych zwrotach, niczym o'clock ;-)))

I was taught that if the verb is an auxiliary, you can use the shortened form.
If it isn't and carries a lexical, not a grammatical meaning, you cannot.

In this case the verb doesn't inform us about grammar but about posession,
therefore I'd advise you not to use this shortened form in such a context.

a book" are all possible (although the last two are VERY non-standard :)).

There is no "I've a book" version mentioned above, mind you.

W angielskim można spotkac się z wyrażeniem "I've no idea" - nie słyszałem i
nie widziałem nigdy w innej konfiguracji użycia samego "'ve"

pharse "I've nowhere to sleep" - so one may conclude that in negative sentences
such a pharse is much more common.
