ixtlilto Re: three-part phrasal words 21.05.05, 19:02 Na tych stronkach już byłam i nadal brakuje mi kilku... Sorry... ;) I've seen this pages, but didn't find three-part phrasal verbs for example with "move" or "miss". I've three boxex with 10 words each. I hawe to match them and as a result I should have phrasal verbs to replase such expresions: * very excited about (look forward to) * have a friendly relation ship with (get along with) * neet * accept * start siscussong (get on with??) * finally * fail to take advantage * adopt * reducing (cut back on) BOX1: +cut, live, go, come, miss, ++get (x3), +look, move BOX2: over, along, +forward, out, round, +back, down, in, on, +up BOX3: on (x2), for, with (x2), to (x5) Do You have any idea how to match them? :/ I can't get on with it Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś

ms.jones Re: three-part phrasal words 21.05.05, 21:47 BOX1: +cut, live, go, come, miss, ++get (x3), +look, move BOX2: over, along, +forward, out, round, +back, down, in, on, +up BOX3: on (x2), for, with (x2), to (x5) * very excited about = look forward to * have a friendly relation ship with = get along with * meet = live up to (expectations) * accept = go in with * start discussing = get on to * finally = get down to * fail to take advantage = miss out on * adopt = come round to * reducing = cut back on * receive = jedyne co zostaje to 'move over for' co nie ma wielkiego sensu!

I) The company will *adopt* the new accounting procedures at the end of the year. J) If the situation does not improve, the company will have to consider *reducing* personnel.

Bo jak wrzuciłam to do "analizatora tesktu" zrozumiałosc tekstu wyszła 55%, troszkę mało :( ==+== Hi, as you know my name is Ixtlilto. I’m going to make introduction to unit 15, so for the next 10 minutes you will hear something about business media, get to know some new words and create three-part phrasal verbs. Let’s begin by telling what business media are. It’s kind of media which provides financial news and data to company and organizations. That information could be presented in printed media but also on TV, radio and (through?) internet. I’m sure you know some titles of business magazines and newspapers (Business Week, Warsaw Business Journal, Businessman...) If you go to shop, you can find at least 10 titles... so it was easy! And what about business TV channels? (bbc, tvn24, bloomberg...) Have you ever heard about bloomberg TV? Once I had seen that channel... At the same time on the screen you can see interview with some financial expert, latest news from the various stock markets and at the bottom some “running lines” where you can find the rest of financial information. At the unit 15 we will read text about Micheal Bloomberg, who create not only bloomberg television. Because that text isn’t short and easy, today I’ll explain such words as: (...) I think now it will be easier to understand whole text about Micheal Bloomberg. The last part of my presentation is game. I have for you some puzzles, on every piece you can find some word, try to match them and from 30 pieces create ten three-part phrasal verbs. (...) Here I have explanations. Please check your puzzles and save them because you will need them on the next lesson. Thank you; I hope my introduction will help you to understand unit 15 and you will faster make some exercises from book. ==-== Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś
deadeasy Re: three-part phrasal words 22.05.05, 21:49 tekst jest nieco chaotyczny...hmmm... na przyklad: "I’m going to make introduction to unit 15, so for the next 10 minutes you will hear something about business media,..." lepiej by bylo: "Hi, my name is X. Today I introduce you to Unit 15 which is about Michael Bloomberg, the creator of Bloomberg television. First, I will briefly explain what business media is. Then, I will explain some words that appear in Unit 15 that might pose a problem. Finally, we will play a game to help us all memorise new vocabulary." :) Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś

ixtlilto and now...? 24.05.05, 21:46 Poprawiłam... Jak to teraz brzmi? Hi, my name is Ixtlilto. Today I’m going to introduce you to Unit 15 which is about business media and Michael Bloomberg, the creator of “information machine”. First, I will briefly explain what business media is. Then, I will explain some words that appear in Unit 15 that might pose a problem. Finally, we will play a game to help us all memorize new vocabulary. Of course do feel free to interrupt me if you have any questions. Business media is such kind of media which provides news, information and data for business community. This information could be supplied in written form (through press), audio (through radio channels) or audio-visual (television stations). This programmes (or broadcasts) are covering the main events and developments in business. I’m sure you are able to list some titles of business press. For example Business Week, Warsaw Business Journal... do you know another? You also should know business television stations such as TVN24, CNBC, BBC, CNN. And have you ever heard about bloomberg channel? It’s really for people who needs up to date information. At the same time on the screen you can see the latest stock exchange quotations from different stocks and for various sectors. In next week we will read text about Michael Bloomberg founder of Bloomberg company. In this story we can find troublesome words like: ubiquity, backing, or state-of-the-art. Now I’d try to explain this words: UBIQUITY: (noun) presence everywhere or in many places /wszechobecnosc/ A DATABASE: computer program that is used to record and list data A SUBSCRIBER: person who pays regularly for a service A PERK: benefit for an employee in addition salary STATE-OF-THE-ART: newest and most sophisticated DEPRECIATION: the fall in the value of something as it becomes older PREMISES: the building where a company is located I hope this definitions will help us to make exercise 1 from page 147 Now I’d like to play with you in game “how to complicate simple things”. I mean: one word we will replace by three others! That “three others” are called “three-part phrasal verbs”. We will change words: “excited”, “received”, “meet”, “accept”, “finally”, “adopt”, reduce” and expressions: “have friendly relationship with”, “start discussing” and “fail to take advantage of”. I had prepared for you puzzles with phrasal verbs and its meanings. /ma ktos jakis pomysl jak można uatrakcyjnic tlumaczenie znaczen phrasal verbs?/ That’s all I have to say about unit 15. I hope you enjoyed and understood my presentation and in next week you will make out the text about Michael Bloomberg. Thank you! Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś
