Powiedzcie mi prosze, czym sie roznia roast potatoes od baked potatoes i
generalnie roast od bake?

A jesli mam "book with a lot of meat in it (like War and Peace)", tzn?

      In practical term there is no difference, however to roast means to cook with
      rediant heat from an open fire while to bake means to cook with dry heat.

      That being said if you go to an appliance store you will find plenty electric
      roasting ovens.

        substance, heavy reading or heavy subject.

          roast potatoes sa obrane i polane tluszczem (czasami pokrojone), w brytfannie i
          oczywiscie upieczone. Czesto piecze sie je w tej samej brutfannie i tluszczu co
          mieso.

          Baked - bierzesz calego ziemniaka (nieobranego) i wkladasz do piekarnika i
          pieczesz.

        But then we have "roast pork" and "bake ham", and never "roast ham" or "bake
        pork", both with greasy fat. And they are served with sweet potatoes ash
        roasted at the edge of a wood fire, no grease here. So what gives?

        Perhaps it's the crust formed by roasting and absent in baking.

        This made me so hungry I am going to have some poached eggs:)

          Yeah, I'm also getting hungry just by reading this ;-)

          Some are just collocations and I would leave it at that.

            Moj braciszek kupil sobie toster oven. Zanim sie z jego instruktcja zapoznam, to powiem tak.
            Posiada ona dwa grzewcze ustrojstwa.
            Jedno z gory, drogie z dolu.
            A na "pokretle" sa trzy funkcje: Toast, Bake, Roast.
            Nie mam pojecia, ale biore na logike:

            Toast: tylko gorna
            Bake : obie
            Roast: dolna
            Prosze mnie poprawic.

              Mudzynku, zlosc pieknosci szkodzi, nie nerwujsja. A co, w naszym ojczystym
              jezyku jest tak prosto?Smazyc, dusic, gotowac, wedzic, podsmazac,
              piec,zapiekac, opiekac, grilowac (bardzo polskie), prazyc, jedno z lepszych-
              pitrasic/pichcic...i juz mi nic wiecej nie przychodzi do glowy. Jakby ktos mnie
              poprosil o przetlumaczenie dwoch ostatnich, to dziekuje bardzo:)

      I can only tell you how I see the difference. My roasted potatoes go into the
      oven partly or entirely peeled. Baked potatoes go in the oven with the skins on.
      If you roast something, you really want to get the nice crisp and brown skin on
      top. Baked potatoes don't always get that golden brownish color.

      Broiling is simply applying the heat from the top part of the oven . Once I am
      finished roasting a chicken, I usually turn the broil on so it can crisp up
      nicely with a yummy golden color on top.

      Grilling is done on things like a barbeque and anything else that comes with a
      cooking grill.
