Nie ma reguly. Zalezy np. jaki ten phrasal verb jest. Long for czy miss out
(on sth) raczej nie rozdzielisz.

Taki, który da się rozdzielić, z reguły musi zostać rozdzielony, jeśli po
orzeczeniu idzie zaimek osobowy. Np.: I'm writing it down. (nie: I'm writing
down it.)

it all depends on what you want to insert between the two parts of the verb

for example, you could say either "I'm writing the information on XXXXX down"
or "I'm writing down the information on XXXXX"

Jest regula. Wszystko zależy od tego czy to slowko po czasowniku
to 'preposition' czy 'adverb particle', ale niestety jest to na tyle
skomplikowane, ze latwiej sprawdzic w slowniku jak sie uzywa danego phrasala i
zapamietac:-)

Have a look at some examples:

(1)The schedule says your plane is taking off at 4:55 p.m.
(2)You must take off your shoes before you enter a mosque.
(3)You don't take your shoes off when you get on a bus, do you?
(4)I just wanted to say hi, but he took off in a hurry.
(5)I am going to take a few days off next week.
(6)No, that's impossible. You took off two weeks last month.

In(1)"take off" is intransitive.
In(2)and(3)"take off" is transitive
In(4)"take off" is intransitive
In(5)and(6)"take off" is transitive
