"Many workers unaware of tax credits"
Many Irish workers are losing money because they are unaware of
the tax credits available to them, according to the Irish Taxation
Institute
Chief Executive Mark Redmond today said that workers should review
their tax situation and organise their tax returns well in advance
of the October deadline. He said the Institute found that one in
eight self-employed people who filed tax returns electronically
last year did so on the last da
Mr Redmond was speaking at the launch of Tax Return Week - a week
of events aimed at raising public awareness of tax entitlements
The body will also publish guides in five different languages this week to
service the growing number of foreign workers in the
country. The booklets will be published in Polish, Czech, Slovak,
Latvian and Lithuanian
The institute is to hold a forum for the construction industry
today and will relaunch its website, www.taxireland.ie.
