Polish banks a nightmare?

11.05.06, 23:02
Every time I have to use the services of my local bank - Kredyt Bank - I get
enormously frustrated. Lately they even managed to change the opening time
from 08.00 to 09.00 - speaking of asocial behave...
I am pretty much fed up with Polish banks.
Which bank do you use and would you recommend them?
I heard Citibank and Fortis are equally horrible and that Volkswagen Bank is
pretty good... Is this true?

From a retail point of view, I've found Millenium to be of no problem (apart
      from slow at the counter).

The staff at all of the branches I've used have always been friendly and helpful.

      From a commercial standpoint, crap.

so they don't pay you enough dividend?

Kredyt Bank is a Belgian bank not Polish any more. Why don't you use one of the
      internet banks?
What are the opening hours of banks in Belgium? They work from 8?

Do you have experience with internetbanks in Poland? What do you do in case you
need "physical" contact, like to pick up your bank cards etc ?
        • minimus Re: Polish banks a nightmare? 12.05.06, 09:45
I have my acct with mbank practically from the day they started. And nowhere
else. Physical contact is not needed. Everything can be done using the net,
phone, or post, for exmaple they just mail u the cards.

I use Citibank Handlowy, and I use the internet service and the phone in
service. I don't think I've been in a branch for more than one year.

It's dearer than most banks I ever had, but has the best service I ever
received, so I wouldn't think about changing it.

What are the services that you need a banker for? Can't you do it through a
      teller machine?
      Simple, isn't it?
How about your computer? Use it, sobieski. Don't even have to leave the house!

I am using PC banking all the time, but sometimes you need to go to the bank.
In KB they work unbelievable slow and inefficient.
I opened my account with them because I have also an account with their Belgian
parent company KBC and I presumed they work as efficient as KBC.
Last year KB offered my wife a creditcard. Turns out that they do not provide
monthly statements of your expenses, nor on paper nor online. So you have to
guess how much you have to pay and to avoid the cumulating 50 PLN in case of
        late payment.
Concerning ownership... well I guess most Polish banks are in foreign hands
        these days.

          mbank.pl

Sorts everything out. And has a good English language service.
          Never looked back.

      ... has the sexiest uniforms.
But I think it's called ING Bank this week.

They're as clueless as any bank - I've got two accounts, and they send the
statements for one to me, and for the other one to my mother in Scotland. I
used to ask them quite regularly to stop doing this, and filled in the
appropriate forms, but eventually I gave up.

I used to have an account with PKO, but they're just a bunch of incompetent
thieving bastards, and after an unfortunate altercation they're near the top of
my boycott list, just below the Royal Bank of Scotland.

I changed in the UK to RBS after getting annoyed with Lloyds TSB Bank's useless
service. I found them a lot better than Lloyds, which used to be the best bank.
It may be that they have gone downhill since, but I have always found them OK
        by UK standards.

If you are not happy try english banks for a change.
You won't have any problems because the will not let you open an account

            Yes they will.
They just won't let you open an account because you're an arse.

Just a level of conversation we all need sad

Back to the subject, BZWBK is fine for me. Never had any problem in the office
(well, I'm there maybe twice a year), and the Internet banking is very good.

                  What does, and how?
Can you justify your pathetic and irrelevant personal abuse?
And do you think I really care, you bitter, childish, opinionless, humourless,
                  frustrated little man?

I took originally an account with KB because I have always had one with their
parent company in Belgium, KBC. But honestly speaking I regret it now.
Does anybody have experience with Raiffeisenbank or Volkswagen Bank?
I also do PC banking all the time, could not live without it, but to join a bank
which is 100% online-based? As for now still a step too far I am afraid.
