Everest should be left in peace

22.05.06, 15:47
I'm sick and tired of all these people spending loads of dosh on climbing up
a mountain ... "because it's there".
I don't give a brass monkey, personally.
Perhaps I should start posting holiday photos on the net to impress people.
If they want to snivel away in their tents, let them. I don't want to know
about their uncomfortable holidays from hell.
Yours in absolute disgust,
Victor Meldrew

Personally I admire the huge numbers of helpers who accompany these spoilt
      brats on their adventures.
Like when that work-shy arse Richard Branson got bored with his other toys and
decided to fly single handed round the world in a big balloon, accompanied only
by an experienced professional pilot who did all the flying and navigating
while Branson grinned stupidly at the cameras.
And if I was part of a camera crew following some aristo layabout on a "solo"
adventure to the North Pole, I'd get one of the caterers to dress up as a polar
bear and then sell the exclusive pictures of "Posh Explorer Mauled By Stick-
      Wielding Beast".

Branson - famous for GBP 111 single ticket London-Glasgow

Don't know if that's an expensive plane ticket, outrageously expensive coach
ticket, or normal train ticket, but I suppose it's cheaper than ballooning it.

And how much faster is the 111 quid train than the 18 quid coach? And how much
more comfortable than the 22 pound aeroplane?
And how much of that money does Branson spend on paragliding to the North Pole
or ski-ing up Everest? Can't be that much, since I assume he employs non-union
              Sherpas.
