National dishes

04.06.06, 14:29
Is there something that you could recommend to me from your national cookery?
I ask as I'm not very fond of Polish tradiotional dishes (they're quite
heavy) and I like some coocking experiments.
You may also write are there any products you used to eat living in your
country you can't get here, in Poland. I'm interested in that issue, because
my sister, who lives in Germany, often complains that there is no white
cheese in German's supermarkets. She would like to buy it, but everything
she's able to get is cottage cheese smile Poor My Older Sister!

Yes. The English national dish is now officially chicken tikka masala, and you
can get a very nice version of it at the Tandoori Palace on Marszalkowska.

Thank you, it sounds quite interesting smile To be honest- chicken is my favourite
        kind of meat.
I hope I'll manage to visit this misterious Tandoori Palace (I've never heard
of it) just as soon as I finally finish my exams. Nowadays, I suffer from
common lack of spare time but I suppose- that's just life.

Are Englishmen just as crazy about butter chicken as Canadians? Indian cuisine
rocks! Sorry Dave, and not that I've ever been to England, but there is a joke
about the shortest book in the world being that of English cuisine....

Even though I haven't been to Warsaw in years, I've heard of the pierogarnia
restaurant. My dad loves that place and the last time he was there, he ran
into none other than R. Krauze who, before he made it big, used to rent our
house for his offices.... needless to say he was surprised to see the almighty
Krauze there and even asked him what the heck he was doing there without his
body guards?!? Not that he's known for his culinary tastes, but I guess the
pierogi are good if even he goes there.
