More set backs for Wembley Another Wembley Setback
Wembley may not host next season's FA Cup final after Australian construction
firm Multiplex revealed the stadium may not be finished until June next year.
The stadium was due to open at the beginning of the year but has been beset
by a series of delays.
The announcement has forced the Football Association to keep the FA Cup final
at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium and arrange England fixtures at Old Trafford.
Wembley National Stadium Limited (WNSL) insist the rebuilt stadium will be
open for business by the end of the year, even if Multiplex miss their
September deadline.
However, Multiplex previously detailed how work which WNSL is responsible for
has not yet begun, pushing the likely completion beyond September.
In a statement to the Australian Stock Exchange they said the stadium is
unlikely to be finished this year.
"Unless and until WNSL hold and successfully complete this series of test
events, and obtain the required approvals, Multiplex will be prevented from
achieving practical completion," the statement read.
"The analysis has been reviewed with an expert in the operation of major
stadia and indicates that it is unlikely that the stadium will be able to
hold a test event for 90,000 spectators before June 2007."

And here's me thinking it was only in POland that you get this type of
aherm 'setback'

Hope they don't employ the same company to re-do the Stadion in Warsaw
Then, we might get lucky and it will be ready in the next millenium
