Monsignor Fitzgerald excused himself saying that Pope’s agenda was full. At the times of Pope Wojtyla this, for sure, would have hardly happened>>.

About the first two months of Benedict XVI’s reign, Al Rifaie draws this picture: <<He had words of encouragement toward the jews causing perplexities in muslims environments. It seemed that he wanted to appease the jews to the loss of Islam. We interrogated ourselves on this. But we have appreciated the sign showed to muslims by sending a letter of thank, in which he affirms that mankind needs common values. And upon this we totally agree>>. They find less agreable the opening in regard of the “bigger brothers” because the Quran incites to violence against the sons of Israel. And the sunni religious authorities don’t lose a chance to justify the suicide attacks against israelians in Palestine.
In the long cahier des deoléances of the Forum they prefer instead talking of matters of etiquette: they would have preferred to take place to the funerals of John Paul II rather than the naming of the new pontifex but <<nobody answered us. We had asked to take place to the funerals but the answer came only 3 days after the ceremony, then we had asked with another letter to take place to the crowning of the Pope, but nobody ever gave any answer to us>>. They didn’t understand that it was a silence full of meaning.
