How about "worse comes to worse", "not all that bad", "Not as bad as it
looks", "It will do", "it's passable", "so,so", And many others..........

not to worry; never mind; no big deal; minor problem (injury)

That's half the pity, he's hit himself but breaking his leg is really more's
          the pity.
          I'm not quite sure I'm right.I think it'll work.
btw.Do You know the meaning of the phrase: once in a blue moon?

It's not that bad if he just hit himself. It could've been worse if he would
            get his leg broken.

Tak przynajmniej powiedzialo by sie to w US. :)

hmm...Wouldn't it sound more grammatical this way: 'It could've/would've been
worse if he'd got his leg broken.' , in IIIrd conditional, I mean?

But never mind the translation, is there really no idiom for 'pol biedy'? I
know in Italian there's sth like 'meno male' (don't know the spelling, though:))

            Meaning:
            bardzo rzadko
"a blue moon is the second full moon(PELNIA KSIEZYCA) in a calendar month. For
a blue moon to occur, the first of the full moons must appear at or near the
beginning of the month so that the second will fall within the same month (the
average span between two moons is 29.5 days). July 2004 will have two full
moons: the first on July 2, the second on July 31—that second full moon is
            called the blue moon"

Once in a blue moon-raz od wielkiego dzwonu, rzadko.(chyba, z kontekstu przedm.)
half the trouble- looking for a trouble not for a pity.
