I would like to know what kind of Justice is being 'done' by the judicial
system allowing obviously guilty O.J. Simpson to walk free... and generally
finding American 'loaded' celebrities 'not-guilty'. But then, do I really...?
It's also the role of the few guys from Supreme Court 'helping' Bush in
Florida, that begs few questions but that's political and therefore see the
other thread... No emotions. It was you, who 'threw your arms up',remember?

High power people and celebrities escape harsh punishment in US courts. True
or false. Somewhere in between. Ivan Boesky and Leona Helmsley are good
        examples
of harsher treatment, as Lizzy Grubman is not.
O.J. is a totally different case. First it took place in California the most
liberal state. The presiding judge was soft from the get go and shortly after
lost control. The prosecuting team was no match to Shapiro, Bailey, Scheck and
foremost the star of that BS, the one and only, Johnnie Cochran. He played the
race card dealt from the bottom of the deck. And on top of this there was a
Jury. 12 men and women. Only one white and 11 others. I guess the white guy
just gave up. To this day most of blacks believe in O.J's innocence.
Don't forget who O.J. was. He was idolized.

Now I try to dissect the 2000 election for you.
After counting all the votes in Florida, Bush came ahead by about 2000 votes.
This triggered the automatic recount, as it is required by law. Gore was 1500
votes short of carrying the state. Then he and his team cooked a story about
voters' errors and demanded hand recount in three, heavily democratic counties.
Facing that possibility the Bush team moved to stop the hand recount in the
Court of Appeals. In meantime, the recount begun. After the first hand recount
Al Gore did not amass enough votes to put Florida in his box. So they demanded
another recount. Florida's Supreme Court allowed it to happen, but Chief
Justice and the other judge descended. Shortly after the verdict The Supreme
Court of the United States voting 7:2 stopped the recount. The next day they
vacated the Florida's Supreme Court order voting 5:4.
Not even once Al Gore had more votes than Bush.

Ask yourself what is "safe harbor" and "equal protection clause" and you'll
have the answer. Those were the basis for the verdict.

Hey, you seem to have all the answers ready. That's OK, but have actually read
that page with all the 'left hand' entries on that link i sent on Pol. Language?
          Really?

            No I haven't read it.
I was the eyewitness to those events. I remember them as they were happening.
Do you know that in 1960 the similar election controversy occured in Illinois.
Nixon was the one who lost and against the advise of his team he did not demand
the recount. He foresaw the negative consequences had he came short.
The biggest sin Al Gore commited is cracking te foundation of the system.
He will never be a president. He is politically dead, a cadaver.

Although I am a conservative I see myself voting for someone like Kennedy.
Not Clinton, not Gore, not Carter, not Johnson. Yes to Truman.
Making it more interesting - not for Dole.

Look, if you were an 'eyewitness to those events' than I am an eyewitness to
the evidence and its interpretation of my choice and I call him an un-elected
president, OK? And it is not because of Gore, for whom I couldn't care less...
Anyway, carry on with 'cloture and filibuster', I am quite interested.
I'm off to bed now. G'night.

..from "Stupid White Men" by M.Moore

..and so on , he has covered up his various arrests ( for drunk driving,
theft, etc.) and all the people in his administration who are now
secretaries of state who are meant to regulate industries in which they
have worked and which they have (and continue to have) made a profit
from eg oil, spoiling the Alaskan wilderness etc.

Wojciech, you are a helluva chick, keep your **** on and'ave a little read

no, but, you know, like it's hard, man.
first it's the responsibilities. then it's the encumbrances. then it's the
emergency alteration of priorities. then the total immersion in a world of
wonder beyond telling. you know, that kind of thing.
