Which agency?

31.01.08, 01:41
Hello, again.
My real name is Beata. As you know I'm an English teacher.I've been
teching English as a foreign language for 15 years here in Poland.
It's a great job but I need a change. I know that some Polish
teachers have gone to UK to look for a job and they have succeded.
I'm going to move to London next summer and have a try at looking
for a job there. I've been teaching children (from the age of seven)
and teenagers (up to age of 18)in state schools as well as in a
private English language school. I think that my experience and
qualifications would be useful in UK. I realise that there are a lot
of children of Polish emigrants who need help and support and maybe
I could work with them. What do you think? I would appreciate if you
gave me your opinion.
Do you recommend any agencies where I could apply for a job as a
teacher?
I read the article below and I think I have a chance.

After reading the articule you linked I definately think you have a
very good chance of teaching English as a second language to Polish
people resident in the UK. There are 12 Polish parishes in London.
Putting up details about the courses you can provide would be a good
start. I am sure you would be able to rent a couple of rooms at a
reasonable price and start up your own school. This would be a
better financial option (in my opinion) than going to work in a
primary school as a teaching assistant. I hope the links below are
      useful. Good luck!

          to do~

Jon, there is a forum called "Polish teachers in England". I found a
lot of useful information there. Some of the people who write there
work as TA or Supply Teachers in UK. One girl has just got promoted
and started work as an English teacher in the school, where she had
            worked as a TA.
I don't know if it is possible at all to find a job as ESOL teacher
and teach English to Polish residents in UK because there are a lot
of courses and schools and as far as I know they are for free for
            the newcomers.

I agree with you that teaching English is a competitve market and
personally I think you have to create a niche to succeed. The free
ESOL courses tend to be over subscribed and consequently students do
not get to speak much English during the lesson, hence the Oxford
Street hinterland of fee charging English schools. You could
consider a bit of both...setting up some weekend classes yourself
and working as a TA and seeing what suits.
Some useful ESOL sites, you may already know these, are:

        Thanks, Margot :)
When I arrive in UK in summer, I'll enroll my own children (aged 8 &
        11) to school and I'll ask for the possision of TA in their schools.
Jon suggested teaching English to Polish residents and starting my
own business but as far as I know there are many English courses for
emmigrants running for free in UK. I'm not sure if anybody was
interested in studying English with me.
I'm going to London because I have some friends there. I lived in
London for 3 years in the 90s. I know it's expensive but as dr.
Johnson said : "If you are tired of London, you are tired of life"
