jonathan.oakley Re: Free house ----pub? 25.03.08, 00:21 A free house is basically a pub that is not controlled by a brewery and so is free to sell different brands of beer. Public Houses (abbr. to 'Pubs') were intorduced by the Romans in Britain over 2,000 years ago. Then known as taverns ("tabernae") they were usually constructed by the sides of roads and also provided accomodation and food in addition to drink. The Romans are also behind the traditional British Pub sign - Roman Britian Pubs had a sign with vine leaves to indicate their trade. :) Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś
