20.06.09, 11:47
Hello,
That's my first post ever here
and I need your help ASAP ;)
Hope you can solve my problem stated above

Can you possibly say:

..to master/perfect sth FURTHER..?

And which of the two sounds better?

Looking forward to your response :)
Best wishes

You can only say it if you are taking the piss out of someone else. To master
something is to have complete capability, which cannot be improved, and nothing
is better then perfection. However, you could say something like 'it has gone
beyond mastery/perfection' or 'it has been taken to a new level', both meaning
that something has been achieved which would not normally be considered possible.

I came back again to read your answer one more time and look.. actually I think I can use the phrase

        > You can only say it if you are taking the piss out of someone else.

Because this is EXACTLY what I'm doing..
Taking the piss OUT of my students!!

.. or at least I do it from time to time ;)

        :D

I took anther look and realised that I should have said that is often used to
talk about yourself, not just other people.

Since you are a teacher, I should add that I didn't like using the word 'piss',
but I don't know a better description that has the same possibility of being
          everyday, mildly mocking humour. Strange!
