Witam!
Studiuję j.angielsi i jutro mam egzamin z historii USA. Wykładowca
(Rodowity Kanadyjczyk) dał nam przed egz. jedno z pytań do
odpowiedzi w formie eseju. Brzmi następująco: "Do jakiego stopnia
Amerykanie realizują idee wolności człowieka i dobrego
rządzenia, które wprowadził Thomas Jefferson w Deklaracji
niepodległości? Odnieś się do kilku wydarzeń z historii USA". Nie
jestem historykiem i dlatego chciałem się zapytać rasowych
historyków o wskazówki odnośnie tego problemu (mogą być w formie
haseł). Wiadomo, że można wspomnieć o niewolnictwie, ale to trochę
zbyt oczywiste. Dla znającyh ang. wklejam komentarze jaki zamieścił
mój wykładowca odnośnie tego tematu. Z góry dziękuję za pomoc.
"In answering this, show that you have read the whole declaration;
if nowhere else, it is available in the appendix to a book called
The Challenge of Democracy, available in the library. You may
certainly comment on Jefferson's famous line that all 'men [sic] are
created equal they are endowed by their Creator with certain
inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the
pursuit of happiness.' However, look further in the declaration,
including its various complaints against British rule under King
George , and decide what principles of good government Jefferson
suggested was being violated. Further, be critical but open minded.
It is fairly obvious that African-Americans, natives and many
immigrants have not always enjoyed equality or the right to pursuit
happiness, but also think about Americans' serious efforts to assure
these things. Neither 'American-bashing', nor 'cheerleading' will be
very appreciated, especially if it is not substantiated by facts
that you may have learnt."
