have just returned from a two week stay at the pineta and i must say i was
pleasantly surprised as to how luxurious and comfortable this hotel was.from
the moment of arrival and having our cases taken straight to the room by the
bellboys till our departure we were delighted with the service.i was with my
partner and our 4 year old daughter who loved the pools and the kids disco in
the evenings.
our only dissapointment was the food,if you like salads you will love it but
if you want a bit of meat then there is not much choice, this also applies to
the breakfast there was not a great choice.having said that, there was a great
restaurant attached to the hotel(owned by the hotel!)that offered excellent
food from full breakfasts to steak and seafood dishes, hotel guests also get
20% discount at this restaurant.the staff here are excellent as was everyone
at the hotel.
most people at the hotel were dutch or russian but they were geniunely
pleasant.the resort was really cheap and lager was as cheap as 40pence in
some places(mayfair restaurant on main street)and all other goods were cheap
too.the hotel could also do with a bit more entertainment in the evening as
we found some evenings at the hotel rather dull so we headed for the bars.
all in all though a great holiday at this newly built hotel and the family
and i hope to book for next year.
This is the first time we had been to Marmaris, booking it as a late all
inclusive deal. We were meant to be staying at a different hotel but got told
on the drive from the airport that we would be staying at the Pineta. We
arrived and the hotel looks nice from the outside, and the reception looks
quite elegant. The room was a good size and had an extra bed in it.
The first time we went ot eat was at tea time, and in the restraunt there was
a big table full of salad which looked quite impressive. However we soon
found out that it was salad for breakfast, lunch and tea. My girlfriend is on
a diet and even she was sick of seeing salad after 3 days! The warm food is
actually colder than the cold food. People in white coats were going round
testing the salad bar with thermometers but ignoring the allegedly hot
dishes, i've never heard of anyone dying from eating a warm tomato! The food
is really catered towards the huge German population at the Hotel. I don't
consider myself a fussy eater and would try most things but i imagine it
would be very hard to feed english children anything that they wouldn't turn
their nose up at. In the end we ate out for the last three days and found a
turkish place called Aspava, just on the corner next to the Migros
supermarket which was excellent food and great value.
The entertainment at the hotel was aimed more towards the children which is
fine because i'm old enough to entertain myself. There is a lot going on
during the day, but the entertainment on a night was my worst nightmare, if
you like hearing aggadoo everynight then you will love it here.
Some of the staff were quite friendly and would talk to you including the guy
who worked at the 24 hour supermarket who never seemed to sleep! However some
of the bar staff could be quite surly when they wanted to be.
We would go back to marmaris again but we wouldn't stay at the pineta and
wouldn't stay all inclusive, as food is cheap in the restraunts. We would
also go more peak season as the majority of bars were not open and were just
painting and tidying up for the season.
The Hotel sadly did not cater for English people and definatly leaned more
towards the Germans/Russians, understandedly as the majority of the hotels
guests were these nationalitys. On arrival at the hotel we were put into...
all I can descibe it as is "the attic" hardly any balcony and what there was
had a view of a wall and if you stretched you could see some trees. Numerous
requests to change the room were greeted with "Hotel full".We spoke to the
Rep. but got nowhere, after 4 days we bumped into the Reps boss who manage to
get the room changed so for the last 3 days we had a fairly decent room. The
hotel is very clean, we were all inclusive but ate out of the hotel 5
evenings out of the 7 that we stayed. We enjoy the markets and on arrival
asked the Rep what days were Market day sadly we missed the big Market in
Marmaris on Friday but there is another market in Icmeler on Wednesday, the
Rep neglected to tell us about the market outside the hotel on Tuesdays
luckily we did not miss it!!. Breakfast consist of continental cheeses ,
olives etc. and for us English boiled eggs 6 out of the 7 days. We will visit
Marmaris again but a smaller hotel would perhaps be more to our taste.
