toja3003 What is EU really? EAU, means, 24.03.09, 09:54 What is EU really? EAU, means, European Agriculture Union. Why? Because agriculture subsidies is the biggest position of the E(A)U budget, about 50%! Right, agriculture is part of our civilisation, is important too, but what about proportions? We have 3-5% farmers on average in the most developt countries (in Poland still more but the trend is decreasing), so I would understand 3-5% of the EU budget for agriculture, but no more. There are another areas and even more important: education, infrastructure (transport, telecommunication), health, unemployment. We in Europe should not protect our agriculture market against third world countries like in Africa, because agriculture belongs to very few areas where the poor countries could do something, produce and export these goods. But we protect our markets, they can sell nothing to us and we must anyway send them money because they poor. So the taxpayer in EU must pay twice: for poor-countries subsidies and for EU-farmers-subsidies. That’s ridiculous. And we must pay even more for European apples for example. When somebody in Europe will produce apples I have no problem with that – please do this, but why with my taxpayer money? Odpowiedz Link Zgłoś
