How can I say "nie ma powodów, są tylko preteksty" in English??

Can I translate it: "there is no reason, there are pretexts only"??

It depends on the entire context.

There are no reasons, only provocations

There are no reasons, only excuses

I don’t think "pretexts" is a correct word.

"pretext" is technically ok and since it is
a latin word it has preety much the same meaning
        in both languages.
However, it is not a word seen or heard too often,
so I would not use it.
