political correctness???

28.10.04, 15:09
(Daily Mail, 25 Oct., 2004) Barmy censors have cut the Beatles hit "When I'm
Sixty-Four" - because it could offend Jehovah's Witnesses.

They banned a choir from singing the line "birthday greetings, bottle of
wine". The aim was to protect one youngster at a primary school charity chow.
He belongs to Jehovah's Witnesses, who do not celebrate birthdays. Touchy
teachers at the schoolin Farnborough, Hants, feared the song could cause
him "embarassement and upset". (...) The Hart Male Voice Choir could not even
change the lyrics because of fears it would break Sir Paul McCartney's
copyright. Instead they were told to skip the line while the pianist played
on.

Somehow I am not convinced, with all those priests in Polish schools and
Jankowski pouring venom from his pulpit... It may happen, but I will not live
long enough to see it ;)

religious correctness - that is what we have instead. We're on the verge of
being a trendsetter as far as those matters are concerned
