They are called Phonetic Symbols. All of them together form Intaernational
Pheneti Alphabet (IPA). Try to google it to find out more.

Thank you anyway, dear villager, however, I'm sure they have a Polish name,
steming from latin, I suppose. Something like "znaki diaktryczne", but this is
obviously not what I mean.
Anybody else knows??

Thank you, but NO! NO! NO! The examples you've given are descriptions and I'm
certain there is a single word, like eg. "majuskuła" or "minuskuła". Anyway,

minuskuła - mała litera alfabetu
majuskuła - wielka litera alfabetu
uncjała - pismo złożone z zaokrąglonych, osobnych majuskuł

Ale nie było to moim zamiarem - odniosłam się jedynie do postu powyżej.

Znaczki słownikowe znam jedynie pod nazwą znaków diaktrycznych (tudzież innych
wariacji podanych przez Ciebie).

Chyba masz rację. One wynikają z zapisu charakterystycznego dla języka.
Natomiast "alfabet fonetyczny używany przez lingwistów do dokładnego
zapisywania wszystkich dźwięków (fonemów) jakie ludzki aparat mowy jest w

Gatsby, ja wiem co to są fonemy - przeczytaj jeden post wyżej. Wiem, że zapis
to nie to samo, co dźwięk. Wiem również, że "phonetic symbols" służą
do "phonemic transcription" -> hey, those phonems again?!

Uboot nie był zadowolony z wielu podanych tu odpowiedzi. Być może jego pytanie
po prostu było niezbyt prezycyjne. Stąd ta burza mózgów.

Sorry to state that, but my question was precise - these "letters" or "signs"
used in vocabularies MUST have a name! BTW - znaki diaktryczne are all
these "roofs", "tails" and all other stuff associated mainly with vowels,
mostly in French and Spanish. During the weekend I went through many
vocabularies - ubfortunately have not found an answer to my question :((

Well, I do appreciate your involvement in the matter, however, with all respect
due I must state that no one of you gave an answer of that type: "Look, pimp,
these signs are called: -blahblahblah." (a single word). I will keep searching
and just as I get this precious info I will let you all know.
