So, u mean to find a tutor (a native one, I suppose) who will come to your place and give you private lessons for free? (coz that's you call it - u set a specific date and place)

Hey! Good luck finding one! And while we're at it, if you DO find someone like that, please let me know, will you?

      <lol>

Go to www.skype.com, install the software for free (I hope youv have a
music card and microphone+kind of speakers in your computer). Then we can
talk.My <Skype> name is marekd65.Decent English without hidden contexts only.
        • Gość: struzka the answer IP: *.noname.net.icm.edu.pl 07.12.04, 15:52
          rotfl;-)
I'm studying English.second year now. just wanted to practise more.
skype is horrible.. I hate talking on the phone, u know. and it's so difficult
to find a nice person who speaks real English..

RP or so called british accent is the one I prefer.

So you would like to someone to come and see you in Friday afternoons/evening
for free. What does that mean "if u're nice and I have enough time?" And why
does it matter that you are 21? Are you doing us a favor by having enough time
or being 21? Have a great day!
    • lamia_k Re: I'm looking for someone to talk to; Warsaw 08.12.04, 15:09
why u r looking a friend ( if u mean a friend) in the Internet?
    • Gość: struzka being precise IP: *.noname.net.icm.edu.pl 09.12.04, 11:23
      perhaps a cv, huh?
OK, let's be precise this time;-)
      1. I'm the one who claims [;-P] to be qualified.
      2. I'm looking for an ordinary person [NOT a native-speaker] who is willing to
      talk to me.
      3. I'm not that bad or anything.. I just shy away from speaking during my
classes, so I need some extra practice.
      4. Some time ago I saw someone trying to do the same, and I thought it was a
      great idea.
      5. I'm 21, so talking to someone who's 13 wouldn't be fun..
      6. Tomorrow's Friday, and no one in Warsaw is interested, though it's
      absolutely free of charge.
      7. It's Christmas time and u should help others, even though they're as strange
      as me.
      8. I have my speaking exam somewhere around February, that's why I stress the
      time frame.
      9. I'm in hurry again.. bye;-)
      • Gość: md. Re: being precise IP: *.neoplus.adsl.tpnet.pl 09.12.04, 13:05
Sorry, I uderstood the whole matter the wrong way.I am to be learnt then?
      • Gość: lamia_k Re: being precise IP: *.neoplus.adsl.tpnet.pl 09.12.04, 14:01
sorry I still don't undertand, u re lookig sb who is speaking polish or english?
        what exams?!!
      • zoskaanka Re: being precise 09.12.04, 14:56
        1. I'm the one who claims [;-P] to be qualified.
So You are offering free speaking practice - nice :))
what qualifies you? second year studies?

        6. Tomorrow's Friday, and no one in Warsaw is interested, though it's
        > absolutely free of charge.

You expect free converstions (as I assume with a qualified person to practice
        proper English for the exams)
when you graduate, will you be willing to help someone this way?

        Good luck!
        I'm afraid I can't offer my services, I speak AmE :))
      • Gość: struzka mmm... IP: *.internetdsl.tpnet.pl 11.12.04, 14:46
        ;-)
md., I don't quite understand u.. u meant "learned"? nope, I only want that
someone to understand me.. I'm not going to explain every single word, though
I'll try to make myself understandable ;-)

lamia_k, I just want a high school student who wants for instance to study
English in his/her near future, and is interested in practising speaking ;-) so
I want a Polish student who wants to be talked to in English, and is able to
        answer me in English.
        a regular uni speaking exam

zoskaaanka, am I not qualified enough with all those pron and speaking classes
I've had so far? second year students give private lessons and run elf
courses, and I'm not good enough to talk to sb for free?

ur assumption is wrong. I want to develop fluency, not accuracy. I just want to
have sb to talk to.. instead of a cat, I mean. cats get bored too easily, u
        see..

gosh.. u know.. I'm all discouragement. I thought it would be nice for a poor
high school student who's absolutely into English to have some free of charge
practice.. when I was 17, my friends and I used to meet and chat in English for
hours - just for fun of it. we would exchange vocabulary and prepare lyrics
translation and all. no one would ask for qualifications. and now, when I'm a
little bit learned, no one's interested at all.
aren't there any nice people? I've seen someone in here who wants the same,
though she's not a student of English departament.. are u still there? u pretty
friendly though idealistic girl.. I'd love to meet u..

        • szczoter Re: mmm... 11.12.04, 15:17
the idea you have seems nice and useful, however I do agree that the way u keep
explaining it is not precise. Anyway, good luck in looking for such person and
          with your exam:)
        • Gość: lifeisgreat Re: mmm... IP: 64.108.12.* 11.12.04, 16:48
I'm all discouragement - wrong. I'm all discouraged - right. From the rest of
the letter it does not seem like you need much practice, as you have learned to
abbreviate quite a lot of words (must be from sending a lot of SMS-es). I just
hope that you first learn to speak the whole word before trying to abbreviate
everything you say. Anyway, good luck with finding this poor creature who will
want to spend free tme with you practising (B) or practicing (Am) English. Good
luck on your exam. Take care. Au revoir, arrivederci, tschüß.

          • Gość: struzka mm.. a question, then.. IP: *.noname.net.icm.edu.pl 13.12.04, 15:57
sometimes I negociate meaning.. and the phrase I know is: I'm all amusement [as
for the state/condition of being amused]. thus, I say I'm all discouragement
[as for the state/condition of being discouraged]. isn't it correct?
        • kociamama Re: mmm... 11.12.04, 17:49
Why don't you then just talk to poeple from your department? They seem to match
all the criteria you've mentioned. They're Polish, they have a similar language
proficiency (so there would be no prospective dnager of being misunderstood, or
difficulty in getting ideas across),they are your age, and what's more, you
guys probably share interests, so you have plenty of topics to discuss. And
even if you;ve covered all possible topics, you can always complain about
certain teachers or cirticize your classmates;)

          Later,
          Kocimama.
          • Gość: lifeisgreat Yeps. IP: 64.108.12.* 11.12.04, 18:00
I think that is a GREAT suggestion.
    • Gość: struzka I've given up. IP: *.noname.net.icm.edu.pl 13.12.04, 16:02
ah, btw, thanks for the comments. I've learnt sth new about people.
      • Gość: Bibliography Note Don't give up, girl.... IP: *.cpe.net.cable.rogers.com 13.12.04, 22:58
Don't give up girl. Talking here to people is also a practice, isn't it? Are
you afraid of pronunciation? I don't quite understand, why you need somebody
speaking also Polish and from the High School? Are you afraid talking to
somebody who's English could be better than yours?
