witam serdecznie. mam jeden problem, a ten problem jest spelling. oczywiscie
wiem jak pisac latwe wyrazy lub takie ktore sa czesto uzywane, ale gdy
przyjdzie to trudnych slowek to leze. czy macie taki sam problem ? jezeli
tak, to co robicie aby temu zapobiec. uwazam sie za osobe mowiaca bardzo
dobrze po angielsku ale jednak tego czegos mi jeszcze brakuje. pomozcie !

To tak jak z ortografia j. polskiego. Ci co duzo czytaja z regula nie maja
problemow z ortografia. Mowie z punktu widzenia wzrokowca :)

Poczekaj na ms. jones. Przyjdzie i wyjasni, ze ortografia angielska wbrew
pozorom jednak ma zasady. Przypuszczam, ze trzeba po prostu zapamietac
clusters czyli jakie zbitki liter tworza jaki dzwiek.

Z tymi zlepkami musi byc racja. Ja musze sobie niektore wyrazy napisac zeby
wiedziec jak sie je speluje. Natomiast moje panienskie nazwisko to po
prostu "leci" i z kolei jak Anglik slyszy jak je speluje to zawsze prosi o
powtorzenie powoli jeszcze raz bo im sie litery "nie skladaja" do kupy w
zaden "znajomy" sposob.

Ma zasady. 80% ortografii opiera sie na nich (podobno). Czyli jesli poznasz
tych kilkadziesiat fascynujacyzh zasad to masz prawo robic bledy tylko w tych
pozostalych 20% ;)

Ways to learn spellings:
1.Look for a cognitive approach to a word: Look at prefixes and suffixes; root
words; spelling rules/patterns; other versions of words (definitely - finite -
infinity )
2.Refer to word families and typical English letter strings: eg light, sight,
might. -tion; -sion; -cian; -ious; -ould; -ough; -ought, -ieve ...etc
3.Word history and etymology: Greek, Latin, Anglo-Saxon roots of words;
derivations;
4.Look, cover, write, check. (strengthens visual memory)
5.Highlighting: highlight the difficult part of a word - in colour;
underlined; in large letters...
6.Syllabification. Break a word down into syllables cos-mo-pol-i-tan; re-mem-
ber
Over-sounding syllables with elision/silent letters eg Wed-nes-day; Feb-ru-ary;
en-vir-on-ment
7.Mnemonics: useful only for repeated problems with an individual word

I think that it's very hard to remember all these rules. The best way is to read
a lot and use a spell check (not cheque - because you're not going to pay anybody!)
I know somebody who didn't have a clue about those complicated rules but read
lots of English books and then passed TOEFL with flying colours.
